I have tried more of the middle eastern food than I wanted to and when I came in Sydney the last time, I was prepared to be disappointed with just another person having no idea of what a restaurant should be but still have opened one and I have to try them out because everyone else in the group wants to. We came here on the 1st of January, on a day when almost everyone in the area were closed for New Year's Day and this guys were open.
The minute we opened the door, we were greeted by a really nice waitress who because we were with our family suggested that we try one of their rooms upstairs for much privacy and also comfort. The room was large and there is also one room where they don't have any dining table which is the traditional way of dining in Afghanistan and a few other countries in the Middle East.
The waitress took our orders and suggested some items on the menu.
We had
- Lamb Karayee- which is pieces of lamb cutlets with spices and a few other ingredients.
- Palau- is a specially cooked rice with a lamb shanks
- Paneer kishmish- a sort of sweet cheese with sultanas (desert)
-custard- (desert)
-Aash- homemade noodles in sauce.
The dishes were really nicely done with minimal alterations to the traditional style of making them. One of the alteration was the use of tomato sauce for the decoration of Karayee which I thought was out of taste.
Overall we really enjoyed the hospitality, the delicious food and the experience overall.
I will definitely give this guys another try the next time we are in Sydney. For now the Sydney siders can have this place all to themselves. read more
