I wish I could sit down with Dr. Friedlis and the rest of the doctors at Stem cell arts/natl spine&pain, to explain what part of their practice should encompass for each and every patient. I had the worst most life-threatening experience as a result of a stem cell implantation in my knee. I was a patient there in 2018 and I noticed a few things that should have put up huge red flags for me, but when you're desperate to be out of pain, you sometimes take a desperate route, which this turned out to be. Unbeknownst to Dr. Friedlis, I wound up worse off than when I began Like other patients and I realize there is no promise we're guaranteed that things will be better than before, any treatment started however, I did not sign up to wind up with septic arthritis! It took many, many months and several operations by a trusted doctor. I was in the hospital on two IV medications - Vancomycin and Ceftriaxone. And that isn't even the end of it. I wish the doctors would require their own bloodwork as well as any previous bloodwork, scans, x-rays, notes, before doing such invasive procedures. They also ought to look on the floor to be sure no one's bone marrow from the previous. Patient spilled on the floor in the treatment room. That was the signal that I should've gotten off the table before being drilled into. I wish I could meet with the doctor, but I'm sure they would want nothing to do with me. And I wouldn't like to meet in out of anger, but out of what I have learned and what they should know and do. read more

I have had chronic neck and thoracic spinal pain for over 30 years so needless to say that I have tried every conventional (i.e., covered by insurance) therapy known to man, including chiropractic, massage, steroid injections, radio frequency ablation, acupuncture, and on and on. I needed more prolo- therapy for my condition and ended up at a new clinic to get it. I am paying half as much and the treatment is better administered as well as more effective. The treatment I had from Mayo was the first time I had ever had prolo-therapy and I had nothing to compare it too. I'm only taking off one star because although I do feel overcharged, it did tremendously help my winging scapula and the Dr would treat me even when I was late. He knew I had to go through a lot to get there. An autistic friend of mine was driving me and my family was skeptical about helping me pay for this because they were not sure it would work and thought it was a scam. Therefore, they weren't helping with transportation ( mow that they see it works it's different). In addition, being treated here also helped me build the stamina I needed to drive, because before hand I could not. Mainly, I am taking a star off because treatment was too expensive and because I think Mayo could learn how to do more image guided work. read more

Getting your records sent to your provider can't be more difficult. After 4 requests still no records. I asked for the Office manager Saghi and told to call a 1800 number that goes to a voice mail. This company should be investigated. Look at the Glassdoor reviews by former employees. 2 out of 5 stars. Terrible reviews. Do you trust a company that is owned by Avista Capital Partners which is a private equity firm looking to make money. Physicians are encouraged to do MORE than less procedures and rewarded financially for this. They have a non compete clause in the contract where physicians are forced to leave the area for 2 years if they quit. In some states like California this is illegal. read more

Saw Dr Friedlis last summer for chronic knee and shoulder pain. I did the full course of stem cell therapy for my shoulder first. Amazing results. 4 torn ligaments and a broken clavicle from 3 years prior. Pain disappeared and I am still pain free today. Then I proceeded to have my knee done 2 months later. This was pain that resulted from a ski accident in 2004 that ruptured my ACL, gashed my cartilage, and caused a double spiral fracture of my tibia. Despite 2 surgeries in 2004, I was in daily pain for 12 years. The stem cell procedure eliminated my pain. I am pain free still today. The procedures are not covered by insurance and there is the risk of the procedure not working. But I am a fortunate candidate who responded perfectly. I would repeat these procedures again and again. The risk of conventional surgery is great (almost died of a post op infection in 2004 and was on vancomycin IV for 6 months and could barely walk for 1 year). The risk here is that it simply does not work for you and the money is spent. I can see where cost is an issue for many people. I ask you to consider the cost of daily pain vs a life without it. For me, it was worth the risk. And being in the majority of candidates who respond well was a huge win. Dr Friedlis is honest. He is candid about the outcome. And this is what he does. He does not do surgery. He down not do pain meds. His office does stem cell therapy. And they are very good at it. I have recommended Dr Friedlis and stem cell therapy to a dozen of my friends. If you are a candidate who responds to this therapy, it will change your life. It's the price of a year of Starbucks and a vacation. So do without it this year and change your quality of life. Dr. Friedlis changed my life. After having fallen 52 feet, I was living in pain. I was constantly going to my orthopedic surgeon and undergoing physical therapy. Dr Friedlis made my shoulder WORSE!! Areas that were not injured or in pain, he injected and now I can't use my arm. I can't take care of my kids. I can't sleep. I was not that bad to begin with and just did PRP to treat a very small minor injury. Now I'm over a month post treatment and ultrasound showed excess inflammation. I can't move my shoulder. PRP or the administration of it made me WORSE. I'm so devastated. He couldn't give me an explanation and just offered a cortisone shot, which is what I have been warned by shoulder surgeons to NOT do! When I've called for follow up questions because I felt so rushed during the follow up, nurses never call me back. The front desk is rude. Dr. Friedlis also offered MORE PRP to remedy the damage from the original PRP. That makes NO SENSE! They didn't show any concern for how they've hurt my quality of life not to mention the emotional distress from all of this. I wish someone cared and gave me answers. I suffered from chronic pain related to spinal instability and SI joint dysfunction. For years, i was unable to enjoy an active lifestyle. Dr. Mayo is terrible. I went in for extensive back and hip pain. Without much of an exam, he tried to sell me on doing stem cell injections, for about $18k of cost. None of this is covered by health insurance and there is no proof that these injections work. After 2 MIRs, it was determined that I have 2 herniated discs in the back and osteoarthritis of the hip showing bone on bone in the joint. A few months ago I had a total hip replacement surgery which has removed all hip pain. In addition, I've been doing physical therapy to strengthen my back muscles to compensate for the herniated discs. All this is covered by insurance. Dr. Mayo should be a shamed for trying to see 'snake oil treatment' to me and others. read more

I am so glad I finally was recommended Dr. Friedlis by my primary care physician. After being misdiagnosed by other doctors, including a spine specialist and orthopedics, and after several rounds of physical therapy, I finally discovered that what I really had was sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Dr. Friedlis recommended several rounds of PRP (platelet rich plasma therapy). He also recommended I take a couple of supplements. The downside is that the treatments are not covered by insurance, and are also a bit painful (for the first day). However, in all honesty this was a small price to pay for getting my life back. When I first came to Dr. Friedlis, I was in so much pain that I couldn't even walk around the block, nor sit down in a chair or even lie down without being in excruciating pain. For a woman in her 20s, this was a death sentence on my life. I gained 40 lbs in two years and was depressed and very miserable. After going through 8 treatments with Dr. Friedlis, I am now 95% pain free. After the first two or three rounds, I did not think the treatments were working, but some people's bodies heal slower than others, and I am so glad I kept up with my treatments. The change is very gradual but it does happen. I would say that Dr. Friedlis' manner is very direct and straightforward. He is an expert in his field and really knows what he is doing, and if you do some research on him you will find that he really is THE top expect on prolotherapy and PRP in this area. It has now been about 3 years since my last treatment, and I now go to the gym 2 hours a day, have taken several long 8+ hour transcontinental flights, have lost all of the weight and am living a vibrant, healthy life again. Dr. Friedlis has been my doctor for many years. I have a chronic condition that no other doctor has been able to help me with. He has been treated me successfully with both prolotherapy and PRP. I usually need about 3 sessions, and the results last me about 3 years. I am able to do many things (walking, running, biking) that I wouldn't have been able to do without the treatment, and I don't need pain meds. Dr. Friedlis is a kind and compassionate doctor. He is very innovative; he is always learning something new, and trying something new, to help his patients. He also teaches others to apply his techniques. It's unfortunate that insurance doesn't cover all of his treatments, but insurance companies are in business to make money, not to make patients well. Despite what the National Spine & Pain Center website says, Dr. Friedlis was unwilling to examine me to identity my specific source(s) of pain (his PA did a cursory exam); he was only interested in selling the one procedure he does feeling confident that, despite the lack of information he had about my health, would likely work. His procedure is not covered by insurances, he could not cite any literature specific to my case, and offers no guarantees. If others have had good experiences, I would like to see their reviews. What a waste of time! These guys seem to double and triple book. I was given an appointment for 2.15PM, and I didn't see any sign of the doctor even until 2.45PM. I refuse to give my money to people who don't value my time so I walked out. I am talking to civil attorneys to ask for compensation for the time that I wasted by leaving work early. This "doctor" should have his license revoked! I went in with an unusual pain in my very lower back! My first appointment with him I had no X-rays or MRI, but without so much as a finger on me, he said he can "fix it" by manual manipulation!! You know that little feeling you get when something bad may happen? Well THANK GOD that my little feeling screamed at me! I did not do this, so Mayo wanted to do prolotheraphy, which I agreed to and I am telling you all that this therapy is a bunch of BS!!!! No other pain docs do it, so what does that say about Mayo!! I had it done 3 times and absolutely no change!! So $1500 later oh and no Mayo's "sugar water" is not covered by insurance I found an awesome doc who took great care of me, oh and get this!!! If I would have let old Mayo do the manual manipulation, well if I had, I would have been millions and millions of dollars richer but in a wheelchair for life!! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! THEY DON'T CARE, THEY PUMP YOU FULL OF NARCOTICS, AND DO NOT LET MAYO TOUCH YOU!! Oh get this... You they prescribe narcotics and if you need a change in them, you have to bring in the others so they can be replaced, well, one of the PA's at the office in Shirlington, she "likes" to do that a lot because she gets her fix from it!! See they don't care about you, it's their way of making money on sugar water and getting narcotics themselves without a prescription. I was treated by Dr. Friedlis. I have back pain. I believe he has a one-size-fits-all answer for every ailment. After a brief exam he recommended three treatments of injections in my lower back. They were expensive and not covered by insurance. He said they are successful 80% of the time. After the third visit, he said to return for an evaluation. My pain lessened but it was not as improved as I expected. When I returned for the "evaluation", his staff informed me that I was getting more injections. When I said that this is not what Dr. Friedlis and I discussed and I expected him to review with me my progress. They put me in an exam room and an assistant came and gave me a hard sell for another expensive round of injections. I was told the doctor would see me but he never came. After a long wait, I was told Dr. Friedlis was busy. Funny, he wouldn't have been too busy if I wanted the expensive injections. read more
