from the 3+ hour check in time. i received 0 care for the reason i checked myself in. after 3 days of improper medication and no treatment i asked to sign myself out. i was threatened and intimidated to resend the request for discharge. after i resend the request i was told i needed to attend all of the group meetings if i wanted to get out. i was sick and nauseated but sat thru 7 days of group meeting which were about relaxing,or to play games. nothing about by illness. day after day of how to take deep breaths to relax. i think most adults know this. The room assigned to you is kept locked all day so you cannot brush your teeth or use the toilet. there is one toilet for the 25+ people to use. your room is locked. on the 3rd day i got food poison from the cafeteria food,i needed to use the toilet that was in use i went to my room and the door was locked, i went to the nurse station to get the door unlocked. i defecated on the bathroom floor and toilet and myself. this was completely avoidable. you are not provided any towels or soap to clean up with. i was provided the wall mounted hand soap and 12 paper towels . i was provided moist towelettes to clean myself. i informed the staff the floor needed cleaning it was stained. two days later at 2:30 a.m. some demon was in my bathroom making a lot of noise in an attempt to clean the floor. if you would like some water. you have to ask for it. the only water is in the nurse station. some of the nurses would decline or tell you to get someone else to get the water. if you ask a tech for water you get water from a container kept in a refrigerator. i wonder if the container was ever properly cleaned. the food for the most part is uneatable. I ate very little. i asked for help. i got 7 days of hell. refused to release me. you are kept until your insurance runs out. there was a 91 year old lady there with dementia she also was forced to stay in the dayroom 12+ hours a day she would ask to go to her room (wheelchair)and be refused,she would ask for help to get to the restroom that is locked. the techs said they would be back they rarely would return. this lady thought she was on a ship or airplane. sad the way the techs treated this lady. I would take her to the nurse station and they would get help. there was a mid age black lady Tisa i think was her name she would be very loud and disruptive. she should be institutionalized she did not know were or why she was there. roy a veteran and very hard of hearing and talked very loud and disruptive to the group (relaxation) classes. roy and tisa both would be removed from the meeting because they were disruptive. george very very loud and would talk over the tv and presenter . george was never removed from group meetings the night crew would come to your room every 15 minutes and wake you and shine a light in your face they are demons for some reason when george was admitted . he was given control of the tv. he would seat himself blocking the tv for others and talk over the tv so you could not see or hear it, discrimination do not allow your loved ones or even you enemy to go to this shit hole disgusting hell hole. they are unfit to treat anyone for anything at anytime. The group of 25+ people are corralled in the day room, i never saw anyone get any treatment for their ailment. i didn't. threatened and intimidated . kept against your wishes even if you checked yourself in. one phone with a handset 1 foot long for 25+ people. 1 toilet & locked ask for water food disgusting no privacy evil night crew demons Morgan the lier "patient Advocate" true job "employee coverup." unable to take a shower because i required a shower chair/stool. declined every day. if you need a shower stool instead you are manhandled in a medieval looking room clean like livestock. kept here against your will until your insurance runs out. Mental hospital, Hah! If you want access to group sessions, but little or no personal care, this is the place. If you want absolutely NO information about your loved one's care, this is the place. If you don't mind your calls not being returned, this is the place. Patients are allowed to attend group sessions if they want. No personal care is provided. If I could give this place zero stars I would. They don't deserve anything. They will coerce you into a "voluntary" stay and you can't stop your stay without a court order even if you aren't a threat. They know the laws but intentionally mislead their patients and families in order to keep patients longer. All they will do is sedate you and not help you. I'd give a -5 million if I could. Christiana, a nurse, is AWFUL. None of the other nurses like her nor the techs. We are too scared to ask for our much needed meds and she lies. She also admits she's very overwhelmed with the "5-6" patients she is in charge of during her 12 hour shift, which is why she admittedly drops the ball. Also, they never returned my shoes or purse and didn't account for my money or any contents in my purse. They did say they found my shoes but can't seem to find my purse. I didn't sign the inventory sheet because when I went in I obviously wasn't in the right state of mind. Their solution was to have CHRISTIANA look for my purse! Lol it's been 15 hours since I've been released and no purse, shoes, or phone call. I offered to send a pic of my purse since they were saying how they'd have to go dig into the storage and how inconvenient and difficult it would be but that didn't seem like a good solution for them. So... yeah! They're thieves!!! They're stealing from some of the most vulnerable groups of people. Shame on you guys!!! read more

Horrible. Greedy, money seeking without patient care. They refuse to allow a patient to sign themselves out to get care from a better hospital and provider. My son has been there 2 days and has had zero counseling and therapy. They refuse to allow visitors claiming Covid protocol but not one single person wears a mask, not even in the reception area. They isolate patients from the people they want to be with them. Appears as old school, dysfunctional mental institutions. We have a much better place and program for him but they refuse to release him until they have to and can get as much insurance money as possible. Look at WFAA news story, read reviews. MOST IMPORTANTLY. My son has received zero treatment or therapy. They drugged him without consent yesterday. read more

Don't expect to her from your loved ones without having to argue with the nurses. They will put your elderly parents in what really amounts to jail cells. They will not speak with you in regards to their care even if you have medical power of attorney. A friend stayed there for 8 days, having started new bi-polar medication and not needing to be on her own during this transition. This was her second visit in 4 months. She needed her walker with her as she was having issues with one of her knees. We were told no walker and they put her in a huge, old wheelchair, so she dragged herself around in the wheelchair using her good leg. Two days later, we were told she could have her walker. By this time, her other knee was starting to cause her pain. The walker was left at the front desk the next day with her name on it and an explanation she needed it immediately due to orthopedic issues. Attempts to call and reach her were unsuccessful during the week. When I picked her up at the end of 8 days, she came out in a wheelchair. The walker had been put in storage and NEVER made it to this patient. Her name was still on it. By this time, she was bent over and practically had to crawl to move around her house once she reached home. The only help this place provides is group therapy. She said she only had a half-hour individual therapy the entire 8 days. This facility is run as an adult day care. We have already scheduled home health care to try to undo the physical setbacks she incurred at this facility. A formal complaint is being filed to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. read more

Good place for a short stint. Awesome people. Some really care and some are there for a paycheck. Scott, Annie, Eli, Shelton, Willow, T, Alex, Lee are just to name a few who will treat you with respect. Dr. Sayed and Emily, his nurse practitioner are the very best in their field. I went for a week "voluntarily" and I saw fights, I was groped, I felt I was in danger at some points and the only way you can get out is if they "felt you have stayed long enough" in reality you have to sign an ADA (against medical advice) and they still say "the doctors still have to sign it though and they decide to not sign it". The doctors sometimes don't even see you the entire time. you have no idea when you are "allowed" be released and they don't give you any sign either. there are also many "friends" I made and eventually turned out that all they wanted to do was have intercourse with me. We actually called it "Mayhell" because it was almost like you were in a prison. In the dayroom all you could do was watch TV, do puzzles, and color. You could also sleep... that is it. It was one of the worse weeks of my life. I don't recommend going there. The only thing I can say that is nice is that some of the staff were pretty chill. One of them carried around a speaker and you could request to play songs. read more

Where do I begin? If you have a loved one that is not the place to send them. Ashly the social worker never returns calls nor dose the supervisor which I have yet to speak with. The phone's are never working and when you do get to talk to someone and voice concern you will just be hung up on! My son came out of this hospital worst than when he went in. Ashley the social worker told I his mother and grandparents he would be court ordered from a judge to take his medication or he could be picked up and taken back which was a lie my son has been off of his medication now for two days and will not take it! The referral that was given to us the place was closed down and no one would never call us back. Now that I have finally have him an apt for him in the morning he dose not want his medication. His Diagnosis was Bi polar which is a joke he is still talking to his Imaginary friends and talking crazy has been since the day he was picked up! He threatens me he will kill me and is very unstable! I called again today to try and get Ashly to call me back well once again no call back! I am writing this so for anyone who has a loved one who is real mentally sick I would look else where. read more

This hospital is a curse...do not send your loved ones here as they may come out of hospital worse than when they went in...which is the case with my husband. He had to be involuntarily admitted due to being in a sleep deprived and manic/psychotic state from withdrawing from Xanax of which he has a dependence on. The hospital knew this coming in and they should have been addressing the Xanax dependence....not prescribing it to him again....he should have been fully detoxed....not only did they leave him on that horrendous medication that is destroying his life, but they also added medications that have done nothing but double the problem since he left there. Beware the visit to the doctors once you are released and they are still monitoring your medications....they are so non-caring and could care less about the meds that have been prescribed as well as leave you hanging on some that were prescribed. This hospital is nothing but a place to receive money and that is all that they care about....If your loved ones need a true detox...a TRUE REHAB environment is the route to go...True Rehab Facilities address the dependency issue and completely eliminate that medication, or other medications that a person may have abused, which when completely eliminated from the body will no longer be a drug craving. True rehab facilities main goal is to get a person back to where they were before they started abusing medications of which a person has become dependent on...Hospitals like this one only bring in a person with an existing problem, keep them on the med that is causing the problem and then prescribe more meds that only exacerbate the problem. It is my thoughts that a place like this wants people to stay in the state they are in, without a care for helping them completely get off meds that are ruining their lives, because if no one had a problem that would cause them to be admitted, they wouldn't make as much money. They want people to stay in bad shape as it is to their benefit!!....Hospitals like this one never fix anything but just bring more harm to the patient.....I had to put one star as had to put something but I wouldn't give this place any star if it were a choice....I would have to give negative stars.....this place is horrendous....just a mill to make money and don't care about patients' wellbeing in any form or fashion....my husband is worse now than when he went in and it is about to cost me my marriage of almost 30 years.....BEWARE!!!! read more

Mayhill Hospital is a Great Behavioral Health Facility! The Intake process, while lengthy, was good. Just make sure you make it clear to them who you want to talk to and who you don't! Dr Islam and Dr Trieu were very helpful and asked a lot of good questions. Oh and the smoke breaks were a life savor, but the patch was better with it so cold outside. Currently attending outpatient and it's just what I needed to stay on the straight and narrow. read more

Don't send a family member there. This place is not safe. A family member was transferred there from Baylor, we were not given a choice of any other facility and it was voluntary, I went there when they were checking my family member in, in the intake area there were at least 6 patients of the facility in this area, we were left alone with these people at times for 20 minutes. One patient walked up to us and got very close and just looked at us. There is so much wrong with this place, there is no security, my female family member was waiting to use the phone and the same girl that was in the intake area came up slapped the cup of water and papers out of her hands and shoved her. She went to the nurse and they told her, just stay out of her way. My relative asked for an extra blanket because it was so cold in there and they told no. There were people fighting in the halls and screaming, there was no security or anyone to stop this. When my relative asked for the paperwork to leave without medical approval, they refused to get it to her. She was scared to death and when I tried to speak to someone, I was told they were all busy. If you have insurance they want you there, they get almost $2200.00 a day. When I found another place to move her too, I went to Mayhill and said I needed to speak to someone about transfer, I was told they were all busy and I would have to come back. I told the reception I will stand right here and ask you every 5 minutes till you find me someone to talk to. When I finally got her ready for transfer, the ambulance waited for over an hour to take her. I believe they were holding her so they could get paid for another day. I was never inpatient at Mayhill (would not recommend from what I've heard and seen there) but I've been twice for their PHP outpatient program. Rachael and Earl (both outpatient therapists there) were wonderful. The things they taught us were very helpful and something I use to this day. I met tons of awesome people there and heard lots of stories that I could relate to. Everyone was understanding and patient with you, and other patients (and staff) always had advice to give when you needed it. I give this four stars because a therapist guy named Stephen took the place of Earl while he was getting surgery my first time there and he bullied and made fun of me for like, 30 minutes straight. Luckily no one there put up with his BS and he was promptly fired within four days. It's still something my friends that I've made there and I laugh about to this day. 10/10 recommend their outpatient program. read more

My daughter was a voluntary admit to this hospital after taking 10 to 15 ibuprofen. Her roommate panicked and told the responding medics that she thought my daughter was trying to commit suicide. At no time did my daughter say she was trying to commit suicide but she volunteered to be admitted after being told that if she did not, she would be forced. Her fist "evaluation" by her doctor was about 1 or 2 minutes long and consisted of only four questions. The same day she asked to leave. The next day she met with the doctor for about 10 seconds. The doctor simply asked "how are you feeling?", and my daughter said she was fine. On the third morning she met with the doctor again for only 10 seconds. Each day my daughter asked to go home because she was fine. My wife and I went to the facility to check on these issues. We asked for a supervisor and met with the Director of Nursing. He came back and told us that she was refusing treatment, refusing medication and refused to see the doctor. Then we met with the Patient Advocate. We were in the meeting with the Patient Advocate when it all went down hill. I was frustrated with the process, the staff and their lies about our daughter refusing treatment, etc. I got up to leave the meeting. I looked at my wife and said "we're leaving", and the Advocate grabbed my wrist. I don't know what she was thinking. I tried to pull away and was eventually pushed to the floor. As I continued to leave the Advocate continued grabbing me. I had to force my way out of the room and down the hall. The door opened and there were several more staff in the lobby where I was grabbed again by unknown staff. I was pushed against the door and it opened. My wife ran to our car and I broke free and ran also. After this we both filed assault reports with the Denton Police Department. We have yet to see if anything comes of this incident. read more
