I was hung up on because…read morethe lines are "down" and they have no help for anyone other then you have to drive down to a DES office whether it's 30 minutes or an hour away from you to make an appointment drive all the way home and then go back when your appointment is scheduled whether it's the same day next day following week. There is no organization whatsoever they do not care about you are anyone other than getting paid to hang up on people so they don't have to actually do their job. There are no options to speak with anyone on the phone other than someone who is beyond hateful and has no empathy for others. No one wants to be in this situation. Life is hard for everyone. We just want to have everything sorted as quickly as possible and we are tired of a bot misreading our uploaded documents.

I just got the letter that my son was not approved with the exact same information that got me approved. we have a household of 3. when they submitted my application its stated a household of 3 and it was aproved as such. when they did my son they stated we did not qualify for a household of three but as a household of 2. I want to know why the exact same information got me approved as a household of three but my son denied because they state we are a household of 2. how is the government getting away with aproving the parents or only some children in a family and then the rest? It makes no sense that the mother is approved but not the child!

Did a renewal for SNAP, and we've received nothing since January. It's March now. My husband is a…read moreveteran with an injury that keeps him from employment, and we have 3 minor children, that I homeschool. They claim that they haven't processed the case because they're short staffed, but they have no issues with denying cases. It's impossible to get anyone on the phone, the in person service is awful, and they do absolutely nothing to help. We also applied for TANF last year, and never received a dime, despite qualifying and getting approved. They told us we had to call an ever changing number, and at one point, it was the number to an Indian scammer who claimed he was giving us a bonus, but needed a number on a card, whether it was a debit card or an ID. He hung up once I called him out for scamming. DES did nothing to make this right, and now families like mine are going without. Of course people will tell you to get a job, work for it, but do you know how many people do work and still qualify? Many. Shame on you, DES. You're supposed to be helping families, not treating people like they're nothing.
