AVOID. I have never experienced such rude and aggressive behaviour from a service representative or company. When I inspected my items, one (out of many items) that was described as new condition had tags but very clearly did not appear new. I approached a representative to ask about a refund. I waited patiently as I got passed off to someone else, and as multiple staff were called in - not at my behest, but because they weren't sure what to do and said they needed someone with more expertise for that item. I was patient and calm and never raised my voice or was rude. Towards the end I did approach the desk and speak to several people as they were examining it - again not being aggressive just explaining what I knew about the brand/item and condition. They denied the refund and I expressed that I didn't think that was appropriate and was trying to ask if there were other options or someone I might speak to about it. Suddenly another representative - (who I was later told was the manager!!) Samantha - cut in and was extremely rude and aggressive. She cut me off repeatedly and said "The answer is no. We're not having this conversation. You can take it or restock it for a $50 fee. Decide and leave." She did this multiple times when I tried to speak calmly to her. There was absolutely no need for this behaviour. First thing this morning I received the following email: "After your visit yesterday we have decided that it is in both of our best interests to close your account. We ask that you do not visit our premises at 200 Bartor Road, North York, ON. If you do, we will ask you to leave. We ask that you do not open new accounts as they will be closed." Ha! Pickup policy is unreasonable. If you purchase the product and not pick it up on time, they charge you steep fees, $40 in my case, plus tax, and re list the item. You lose the item you won of course. They do not send any email reminders, pretty much a scam, they basically look forward to re listing the item and charging YOU. Ridiculous condescending response from the the manager, "It's in our terms and conditions" This is not how you do business. They cancel your account for the smallest infraction, such as complaints and returns. They claim you can notify them of price issues, but when you do, they cancel your account. Many people have been turned off by their business practices and have never returned. My last experience with them was in January 2023, when I won a small item valued at $115 that retailed for $60 on Amazon. However, the item was discontinued at the time, so it wasn't much of a deal. After years of bidding without payment issues, I failed to pick up my item on time and missed the store by 20 minutes. My credit card had expired that month, so they couldn't receive payment. December 2023, I went to pick up the claimed by the company for a new item. I realized that the items did not have the original package. When I read the description before purchase it did not state that the items did not have the original packages missing. I went to customer service and claimed right away to avoid issues with the purchased items. I said that the package did not have the original package and I did not want to have this item because it missing the original package. The customer service abruptly dismissed my claim and did not help me. I requested to talk to the manager and this request was dismissed as well. The associate told me that this is me wasprivate property and I needed to leave. I came home and I received an email that the Maxx.ca company closed my account because I requested to have the original packages for the item that I purchased. It is not right to treat the customer this way because I was your customer and I want to get the item with the original package as the ad did not specify that the original package is missing. I talked to Samantha who did not disclose the name of the supervisor. I asked to leave and no one was able to help me with the claim. Maxx.ca (which is also known as AuctionMaxx) has some of the absolute worst customer service I've encountered of any company. I had won one of their auctions for an item for $165 - they had even sent me an e-mail advising me of so. But shortly after winning the auction they deleted my purchase and removed the item from my Cart. When I asked for an explanation why, they advised me their servers were not working properly the night of the auction and to be "fair to other members" they were going to remove my purchase and advised me I would have to participate in a new auction if I was interested in the item (they were going to relist MY ITEM). I then asked if this is about fairness to customers, what about me - the customer that won the auction and has an e-mail stating I won the item? They advised to me that I would receive no compensation or discount due to this inconvenience and then banned my account. So this is the kind of service you should expect from Maxx.ca - if your item sells for a bit too low and they happen to be having server issues (which happens almost all the time btw), they will cancel your purchase and relist it. I highly advise anyone who appreciates good customer service look elsewhere. read more

I was a good client of Auctionmaxx until I recently got ripped off. I purchased a very expensive cargo e-bike in their auction. The description said NEW, the photo showed a box that was strapped shut. I can only assume since it was STRAPPED shut and NEW in box that everything was there but no, guess what?; the 2 most expensive items on the bike were conveniently missing - the 2 batteries worth over $1000. Without the batteries a cargo e-bike cannot function!!! I emailed the office to return the product but I was basically told - too bad, you did not inspect the goods in the warehouse. I had to pay a ridiculous restocking fee to return the dud e-bike. I feel completely squandered. That same day I also purchased a cantilevered umbrella. The description did not bother to mention that the crank is missing which they clearly knew because they had to open the umbrella to photograph it. I was a loyal customer until today when I went to pick up some purchases from them. In the past I had issues with their products that stated "new" which actually were used or missing items and the misrepresentation in the ad is misleading. I supposedly had a credit from a refund that was removed and I ask them why. Their answer was management did it and it's at their discretion. The location is in an industrial area. The area doesn't look too friendly. Do not expect a high end shop when you walk in. It is practically a junk shop. The staff members are a hit and miss depending on who you communicate with. My husband and I go to auctionmaxx almost on a weekly basis for the past year or so. A couple weeks back we tried to return a faulty microwave within the 14 days. The microwave didn't cook items properly and when we brought it in to return the cashier got angry and said 'wait over there, this guy will be over in a minute to deal with you!' not help, deal. Anyway, the guy who came over laughed when my husband, who is a licensed engineer, was trying to explain to the guy what the issue is. As a true engineer my husband did multiple comparative heat tests with this microwave and our current microwave. This microwave did not work properly. While this was happening I was texting someone I know who used to work here. He was telling me that the owners and managers actually tell their employees to treat anyone returning things with disrespect and tell them that people are trying to do is scam the company by returning items. He said that it's a very toxic environment. I suppose I should feel bad for the cranky cashier who is clearly jaded and angry. We ended up taking the microwave home and we resold it online whilst being honest about the machine's issues. We will continue to shop here as my husband likes to buy certain things there, fix them up and resell them. I just thought I would leave a review because we have been going for about a year, never returned anything and the only time we did we were treated like criminals. Bought furniture . Ad only mentioned cosmetic scratch. But when install at home found more defect like wood not made for the right length and screw hole not matching the right position. They will claim "1 week warranty" yet are only open 4 days a week. Frontline staff is great, manager and above EXTREMELY rude. Terrible experience and will never use again. After opening and setting up it was clear they had been used and resealed. They even had someone else's name on them. Someone is using their business to commit fraudulent activities. I came back there to tell them what happen inside the box. They said they are not responsible for my problem because I was late for their 1 week policy. When you do business you get to stand for what you sell no matter what. This place is a horrible place for buying because if something go wrong, you have no mercy from them. I have to agree with the negative reviews on here. I really liked AuctionMaxx at first, I liked their apparent openness and honesty and I HAVE found some good deals, but those deals are getting fewer and further in between and I'm beginning to question their honesty. I don't even bother with the auction anymore as I am convinced it's a bit of a scam. On a few items I really wanted I had gotten in the last bid and thought I had "won" only to see that they extended the "deadline". This happened THREE times on one item! What the hell is the point of having a deadline if you're not going to adhere to it??? Anyway, I gave up on the items AND on the auction all together after that. I figured they either have bots or insiders bidding against you just to jack up the prices. Never again! As for what I've bought, most of the items still work well, except I am having issues with the Apple AirPort Extreme I bought as "New", so I would avoid those if you see them. Otherwise it really is buyer-be-ware. Yes they do have some good deals, and even the odd great deal, but a lot of the "deals" on AuctionMaxx can be found at regular retail stores with full warranties and better return policies. **UPDATE** Due to recent events I have given AuctionMaxx another Star. I would actually like to give them a 3.5 out of 5 but it seems you can't give half stars on here. Anyway, my reason for the extra 1.5 Stars is that I had an issue with an item and true to their word AuctionMaxx refunded my money. On top of that, the employee that handled my return was very nice and helpful. Still, I am wary of buying anything electronic from AuctionMaxx because two out of the four electronic devices purchased from them were faulty.
