Here we are, the last day of instruction (05/29/2020) for my grandson. He has grown here from…read morekindergarten through fifth grade and it has been the best experience ever. From his first day of registration for kindergarten to his last day in elementary his has learned above and beyond our expectations while growing spiritually. From days filled with fun activities such as Cardinal County to the most grueling of days of mostly tests, he has always learned to the highest level. There have been many days when he came home feeling over burdened but that was just part of the learning process. Yes, there has been a few rough days such as friends lost (for now) or getting called in to the vice-principal's office for a "chat"...his days were not pristine but the other 99.9% was great. From his kindergarten teacher, Mrs Lokkesmoe, to the trio of fifth grade teachers it has been the best we could ask for. So far this sounds like what you should expect from any school but where Woodland Christian Schools family really shine, was during the COVID-19 restrictions. Once the State and county implemented the restrictions, the administration put the student's and staff's safety first and the Distance Learning began almost immediately. While other schools and school district were talking about it, Woodland Christian School implemented it. By day three of the State's Shelter At Home orders, the students were online and learning continued. By day four, the kids were having their first online class meeting. It was great to see the trio of teachers pool their resources together and make it happened for all the students. Side note from the teachings, there are a few students here that are not Christian and the are welcomed with open arms. To the "trio", Mrs. Lottridge, Mrs. Heskett, and Mrs. McGinnis along with Mr. Devine, Mrs. Geiser, Mr. Diehl and many more WE THANK YOU!

Tafoya Elementary School is located in a great residential neighborhood. It is adjacent to a…read morepublic park/baseball diamond field. My introduction to the school was two years ago and I have been very impressed with the cleanliness of the school, the faculty and staff. I am a grandparent of a student here and have volunteered for school trips and other activities that appear to really engage the students, like the spelling bee recently held, of which, my grandson was part of. Apparently, the students were selected by their classroom teacher and peers which was is both an honor and difficult to be in front of an audience of 4-5 grade peers (who can be brutal at that age). However, the students were respectful and cheered for both correct and incorrect spelling bee'ers, and it was fun to watch their reactions especially at the final champion. Another thing I was impressed with was they have a program where students are loaned a laptap for reading at home purposes that includes a wi-fi router for the laptop. They do not have a uniform policy, or bus transportation for students. This is a school that I feel my grandson is cared for and taught well which gives me peace of mind knowing he is receiving a good public education.

I'd give it a fifth star if there was a) more shade for the playground - the play equipment gets so hot sitting in the bright sun and b) if the class size was lower - but thats not the schools fault - thats the district and the state's lack of funding. They have 3 kinder classes with 32/class... there should be four with 24/class. it would make a HUGE difference.

My youngest son is in kindergarten and is also excelling! The school has small classes. I love they are faith based! The staff is amazing! Their current principal started his 2nd year with HR and he has done so many things for the school! The teachers keep in contact with us on a weekly basis on how our children are doing!
