I mean-- is the endodontics office ever THE place to be?…read more Has anyone ever been like; 'Man, I had a blast at the endodontics office! Can't wait for next time.'?? My eight year old broke his adult front teeth last June. In true Luke fashion he tripped while running in PE and broke his fall with his teeth. We've had a wonderful local pediatric dentist who has taken care of us. But after the latest dental trauma (kneeing himself in the mouth (as only my son, Luke, could manage)) we were referred to Corridor Endodontics as it appeared his right front tooth needed additional care. After a quick consult a root canal was prescribed (which we will need to do at their CR location as Luke requires laughing gas). Reasons this was a five star biz: - Location is easy to find, plenty of parking. - Open M-F. - Wonderful staff. Dr Jorgensen and everyone we encountered were professional. - Upfront on cost. I love walking into an appointment and being told off the bat what to expect. Any bills that are medical and dental is just so intimidating and known. - Excellent communication. We were referred and got two phone calls with an email to ensure we had the paperwork in (available to be submitted online) and were reminded of our appointment. Overall, I hope we never have to see Dr Jorgensen again but he and his staff made a bad situation pleasant.

Wanting a second opinion, I obtained my X-rays and consulted two other dentists in person. Both dentists advised that I did not need any of the fillings that were recommended. I encourage anyone receiving extensive treatment recommendations to seek a second opinion before proceeding.

I was also wondering how dental offices were handling the pandemic, from scheduling to cleanliness practices. Based on the recommendation of a friend, I decided to give Design Dental a call. I'm glad I did! They made everything easy and I felt comfortable the entire time. For new patients, they split it into two visits - one to take x-rays and do a general review, and then a second to do cleaning and/or work needed. When I called they were able to get me in in a reasonable amount of time. They were limiting the number of people in the waiting room by having you call from your car to let them know you had arrived, then took your temperature once they greeted you. The hygienists who took my x-rays and looked over my teeth and gums did a good job explaining what they were doing and looking at. Dr. Schminke was amiable and also clear about the process, answering any questions I had. They were able to get me in for the follow-up cleaning the very next day, which was a pleasant surprise. During the cleaning they offered me an optional item and mentioned that it wasn't covered by insurance, so I didn't have any unexpected charges. I found everyone there to be very helpful and friendly, and the place to feel clean and well cared for.

Because their machines were down on the first visit they had to schedule a follow up, though I was still charged for the first visit. Then today, two days before, they said I had to reschedule because they were having an "analytics meetin,g," I.e. not some patient problem but internal business. I offered to come on Monday or Tuesday at 5. Nope we can't do. Would you refund me the first visit. Nope we can't do, It is like playing a game of "Mother May I". In 62 years, a dentist has never, not once rescheduled, let alone for an internal business meeting. I have had dentists come in after hours for a root canal. When a judge tells me to be in court, I don't look in my schedule book, and say, gee, judge, you are going to have to reschedule. They are supposed to be PROFESSIONALS!!! NOTE: I checked with a long dentist I had in another college town. I was informed than other than patient emergencies and a dentist getting sick, they have not in their memory (which is long) rescheduled on a patient. I suspected as much. Not sure what to do now, since they won't refund the first visit.

Fast forward about 10 years and I'm thinking about replacing the crown. My dentist in the Cities can't quite tell some specific info about the crown by looking at the x-rays and suggests I call my old dentist to get my records. I call today thinking it's going to be something like 6 weeks and a $50 processing fee to get my hands on the info, especially when I learn that my old dentist no longer works there. Instead, I spoke with Vicki, a wonderfully competent individual, who was able to pull up my records within about 2 minutes of talking to her. She did say that the specific info I was looking for (which, btw, I could barely articulate, "I need to know something about my crown. Was it put on directly or was there a post or something like that?") was probably on a paper copy, not on the computer, and asked if she could call me back. She called back within, I'm not kidding, 10 minutes and told me exactly what I needed to know. I love being pleasantly surprised like that!
