(and then suffered some catastrophic medical events) in July of 2023 suffering with my jinxed Hyundai which I finally gave to family in Tijuana where its problems were acceptable. In December of 2023, I purchased an used Prius hybrid from him and he has steered me through my transition and the repairs and service which it has needed. All cars have idiosyncrasies and the make has its own along with a lot of blessings. An hybrid car owner needs knowledgeable mechanics and I found that with Tuan and his employees (though I get some of the simpler work done in Tijuana where I also live). Was in desperate need of my car getting an oil change. I did a little research around my area and was surprised to see how much everyone was charging for a basic change. Luckily I happened to have received the Penny Saver ads and found a coupon for an oil change at Maxoto for $9.99!! That's cheaper than buying the stuff and doing it at home! I took my Honda in on a Saturday morning and it was done in 30 minutes. They had a few suggestions for me to have done with the car----she is getting on the older side :) They didn't pressure me at all and although I didn't have those things done that day, I'll be back to get the work done in a few weeks. I experienced a very DANGEROUS situation after taking my car in for a regular oil chage at Maxoto today. Santos, the mechanic who serviced my oil change, also checked my brakes but failed to secure my tire bolts after he removed the right rear tire. I drove away thinking my car was OK until it started making noises as the tires rotated. At first I thought I was being paranoid but the noises got louder and my car started to shake when I stepped on the brakes. Fortunately I was on surface streets and not going too far, just running errands. But I felt like I was about to lose control of my car as I made my way back to the shop. When I got there, an older guy, who appeared to be related to the owner called out the problem immediately after looking at the tire and shouted "It's loose!" The owner knelt down and tightened the tire bolts with his fingers! Unbelieveable!!!! If I didn't have other errands to run that day, I would have driven home and would have discovered the loose tire on the freeway on my way to work Monday morning. The owner said he was "sorry" and that the tire wasn't tightened because "Santos' pressure gun failed and it still makes the noise so there was no way for him to know it didn't work." I doubt that's true and believe the tire was never fastened. The worst part about it is I was the only person at the shop around 12:30 p.m. If they are this careless when they only have one customer to serve, how careful will they be when the shop is busy? They may have low prices but being careless and having BS explanations for their mistakes is not worth the price. If you decide to use their service, pay attention to your car when you drive away, it's worth double checking! read more

Definitely recommend this place for oil changes. Cheapest BY FAR in the area. I need synthetic oil changes and it is always a hard pill to swallow when you hear $78 (jiffy lube) or something similar for an oil change I'm used to paying $20 for (regular). Maxoto is around $40 for synthetic, they are fast and don't haggle you. I'd recommend bringing some magazines, since they don't have much in the way of entertainment and you may want to call ahead just to check the wait time. Yesterday I was in and out in 30 minutes. Can't beat the $9.95 oil change special (coupon in SDReader). Get there when they open, and you are in and out in 30 minutes tops. I used to use synthetic oil in our Infiniti, but now I just change it more often with Maxoto's prices. I can change my oil with them at 2000 miles, and still save money and time over my own synthetic oil change at home. What's the catch? We been to a lot of auto/car shops around San Diego County and we are so thankful to tried MAXOTO. This place is simply the best, the customer service is great the price is fair and very friendly people. My husband brought our Jaguar XJ8 to about 3 jaguar specialists around San Diego and ended up wasting our money for services that didn't really help. Think about only about 2 months same problem again and again and I was really mad to my husband already wasting too much money for the car. Until he tried MAXOTO and maxoto found out that the other shops just actually made the problem worst and that wasn't even the problem. It's been about a year now and so far our Jag is still running smooth and I also brought my car here for gas pump last month and for that they gave us free oil change for our other car and even change the front bulb for free too.
