Food, Drinks, nice people, a boat ride on the 70 ft. Moon Chaser with Captain Mike, Dillon another crew member and the charming Robert.
Beautiful views, of the sunset and lighthouse whilst listening to a live Jazz band; with Carmelo on the strings, a lady sax player, drummer and a jazz man on the electric organ and lovely singer Alexis Cole.
Late in the summer this was a cozy amount of about 70 people as to the 200 the boat can hold.
Food was catered by Coliseum Caterers in Plainview, with chicken, vegetables, pita bread and couscous. It is to say, that it felt to me, a bit like a church social. You are not really going for a gourmet meal. In these events you go for the overall experience. The trays were brought out and the crew served, paper and plastic cups even for wine or soda, served from the little bar by Dillon and people ate at the folding chairs and tables set up on the main level.
The desserts made from Cupcakes by Carol, with proud husband standing by, were made fresh and customized to the music theme creatively with kit kat piano, music note sugar cookies and yummy peanut butter cupcakes with tiny edible cookie guitars on them, well at least I hope they were edible! They were creatively placed on an actual album record 3 level tier display. (see Pix)
Carmelo mc`ing had a bit too much preaching between songs. Cole finally cut to the chase, punchline before they did an odd jam session of something they called Sweet Georgia Brown, far different then the versions that I have heard.
The fresh air at the front of the boat was windy and a bit cool though very refreshing and the
overcast clouds were blown away with the wind preventing rain and cooling the night air, leaving the water calm. People overall enjoyed the music as the two young sweethearts danced and cuddling into the night as the sun set between the clouds by the bridge and turned the sky beautiful colors before a quick departure.
Some nice Kodak moments, (see pix) music, food and an evening out from Captree pier, not as far east as some of the other noted sunset cruise excursions. This was their 3rd annual trip. With time going so quickly before you know it, it will be their fourth.
