I watched the sunrise from Maximo this morning. It is a really beautiful, tranquil park... especially at that time of day. You can get into the park before sunrise as they have a boat ramp. It doesn't look like it has a gate or gets closed down at all. I found my way in and to the water in the dark. As the sun came up, more and more off the landscape was revealed. It was majestic. You can't see the actual sunrise from this park, but you can see the coloration in the sky and the reflection of it on the water. It was unfortunately a little cloudy today. However, it was still a sight to see. After the sun was up, I noticed a lookout tower and I was able to have an even better view from there. It would be really great for sunset. The park had a lot of boats in the water. It has some cool trails, beautiful old trees, a bee hive, wooden boardwalks, a gazebo with benches to sit in, and more. There is also a disc golf course here. It is easy to get here as it is right off of 275. The park was clean and well maintained too. I really enjoyed my visit and I will be back soon.

Enjoyed seeing the birds by the boat ramp and walking the trail :) Hope to drop by again in the future to explore further

Wanted to go for a brief stroll. Decided to drop by Maximo Park. Was able to snap pics of birds by the boat ramp and walk the trail. Looking forward to visiting again.

The views of the water and Skyway Bridge are amazing as you are right at the shoreline. Also small trails of plant life exist and gives an up close look of Florida's wildlife. There are tables as well as a playground and a disc golf course. The only flaw is there isn't a water fountain or vending machine or soap in the bathrooms.

View from a picnic pavilion near the beach.

People also seem to love the disc golf course - someone told me it's the only course in St.

This park is smaller then my back yard. It has 3 play things…read morefor kids. Two which are different from most other parks. It's really not worth your time. Mike

This is a pretty nice park. It is all fenced which is nice. One section has exercise equipment…read morefor the adults (although kids try some of them also). My only issue with this side is there is one piece of equipment that I cannot figure out how to use. Wish there was some signs with instructions or illustrations for each piece of equipment. Other part of park is for the kids. One section seems like a toddler area with baby swings nearby. There are also 2 regular swings in this section. In the middle are lots of climbing type pieces with a section with a slide. There are at least 3 spin type pieces and one "elevator" type piece you have to climb up to the step area. This is not obvious so my great niece had to watch someone else do it before she figured out how it worked. After that it was her favorite thing to do. The slide only has a bar type climb access which is not great if you have a kid that prefers steps or is smaller. There is a slide in the toddler area that is easier to get up to but a smaller length slide. Overall we enjoyed coming to this playground. It has wood chips on the ground and is fairly shaded. There is parking for about 6 vehicles which seemed adequate when we were there. It is at the end of a neighborhood and runs along Gulfport Blvd. I recommend trying this location especially if you are near this area.
