David and Kate really goes above and beyond to help their clients- I was flying a drone and made the rookie mistake of flying in into the top of the tree. David climbed the tree, lowered the coconuts, fronds and sections of the tree, landing each piece right where he wanted it. When we moved into our home the backyard was completely overwhelmed by an invasive vine that had engulfed and killed an orchid tree and had overtaken a mango tree that was still hanging on. I was referred to Maui Arbor Scape by a friend regarding trimming of a hedge bordering my property. I was hoping to be able to use them and refer them on to others in the community as well, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Initially my voicemail wasn't returned so I followed up again to try to reach someone. We set an appointment for the following day which was great, but they cancelled 15 minutes before they were supposed to arrive. The following day they showed up an hour after they said they would and texted me a bid for trimming 7' off the hedge for $975 when that isn't even close to what I asked for. I only needed it topped by 3 feet. In the past this has taken my landscaper 20-30 minutes to do and it looks fantastic. That landscaper charges $60. This company said it would take 3 employees a full day and refused to give a bid for the 3' of trimming that was needed/requested and instead insisted on cutting basically 70% of the hedge off which would have been both drastic, aesthetically unappealing, exposed my property to vandals from the back and completely eliminated my privacy. They came, they saw, they conquered all of the overgrowth at my new home. I bought this little cottage in Makawao after it had languished on the MLS for almost a year. In this community of 9 cottages, one two doors away sold in 72 hours for $100K more but this one, well, you can see the problem. David and his crew came in and took out all of the overgrowth, including 20 banana trees in the back yard and hedges that were breeding grounds for mosquitos. Just three days later, clean and clear of pests. (They drilled down to remove the fan palms that are partially shown in the after picture.) They advised me on what I should keep, and when those fan palms tried to start again in a few weeks, they came back and made sure they were gone completely. ISA Certified Arborist Licensed in the State of Hawaii and Insured Professional I managed a farm in Makawao that needed to remove a 75-80ft ironwood over a house. The tree base was at least 3ft in diameter and positioned right next to the house, over a chainlink fence, and a storage unit. A part of the tree was pushing up against the corner of the house. I knew how tricky a removal of this nature needed a professional arborist with experience. I did my research and called a few arborist companies for a bid/estimate. I got bids all over the place. Some I didn't feel they were qualified and others gave a price way to high. Maui Arbor Scape was the last company that gave a bid. At first experience, David (the owner) was very professional. The guy knew what he was talking about, and is ISA Certified Arborist. He gave a proposal and requested a deposit. His price was fair with the other prices I was getting. Maui Arbor Scape made a fairly complex removal of two trees that were planted (many years ago), too close to the corner of the fence line we share with our neighbour.
