Want to give a shout out recommendation to Nick Gonnella and Mattresses by Appointment in Auburn. We originally thought about getting a new adjustable frame split king and Nicks selection was high quality, great warranty and the mattresses were super comfy. His price for the whole package was MUCH better then anywhere else we checked, by nearly 2K. In the end we decided to get a bed for our guest room and keep ours as it is only 2 years old vs buying the king and using ours for guests. Having just bought a home we needed to watch the bank. Nick and his wife run this local business, we met by appt, no pressuring salespeople, no gimmicks. He was thoroughly knowledgeable about his products and owns what he sells. He ran all over Sac to get us a low profile boxspring so it could be delivered next day as our dogs are old and can't jump well on the traditional size. WOW! Talk about excellent customer service. We went into Mattress By Appointment about a month ago in desperate need of a comfortable and affordable mattress. It was a rainy day, and we didn't know where to start, so we began going into local mattress stores in hopes of finding a comfortable mattress in our price range. My husband googled Mattress By Appointment and didn't get a hold of anyone. He didn't leave a voice message either. As their name implies, we assumed we couldn't just walk into the store, so we continued pounding the pavement in search of a mattress. Would you believe that we got a call back from Nick, one of the owners of the store, and he was able to see us! I am still floored that Nick went out of his way to call us back when we didn't even leave a voice message. And I am floored again that he made himself spontaneously available in OUR time frame. Its as if our appointment wasn't really an appointment. These two gestures show his level of motivation to provide good customer service, and he didn't stop there! We told Nick our exact price range over the phone, and he told us up front whether he had something in that price range, or not. He did not try to bait us to get us in his store. We bought a mattress and a few of the structure frames so far. We love the service here, just about the nicest family run business in town. But can I say something about those steel structure frames? They are the best bed frames EVER! They don't budge, don't squeak, offer great support for all types of mattresses and no box spring needed. Don't pay retail! Great business. You make an appointment and get service from the owner, not some creepy sales guy following you around the store. They have all the latest styles and you save money cause the overhead is lower than a regular mattress store. This place is awesome. Made a same day appointment to check out mattresses, Nick allowed us to enter building without anyone there..which was great due to the Covid pandemic. Worst place ever!!! Was sold a defective mattress. Owner would not even lay on the mattress to see what the problem was due to liability. In the end, I was told they would give me 550.00 credit for that store only on a mattress I spent 800.00 for, and to keep the defective mattress. Needless to say I am out 800.00 and have a mattress that I can not sleep on. When we went to buy a mattress the lady was no help and was on her phone the whole time. Nick has signs posted NO CREDIT CHECK. Yet that's what they did. He told me the finance company will only finance 650.00. Bed was 750 and the extras I wanted made total 801.00. So he said he will finance the 201.00 even though I offered to pay that right then and there. He told me that I can pay for it at the end. Well it was a RENT TO OWN FINANCING. Total was over 1400.00. And after the 90 day grace period he started hounding me for the 201.00. Then started charging removal fee every month of 50.00. I still have the bed. Not removed. So I started my research and found out that it is totally illegal to say No credit check and run one. Also illegal to do rent to own with out proper notification and signs posted on the product what the rent to own price would be. After Nick's threats, I pointed out "NO Credit Check" and you did. His text response. "No Credit Needed. Ugh." Haven't heard from him since and I called the rent to own finance company and paid off bed right then and there. read more
