These clowns tore up my yard with their equipment while accessing the backyard to my neighbor's home for a job there. Dealt with Nate Chad, VP, after 4 unanswered calls for a resolution. He was dismissive, defensive and told me my yard was "collateral damage" and "part of doing business". I am now forced to sue Mattingly to get their attention. Avoid these losers. read more

Mattingly Concrete is a 37 year old family owned business with a reputation for quality and customer service. I have been wanting a patio for years, but wanted to make sure that the job was done right and that the contractor was dependable. The owner was my estimator and made me feel very comfortable with understanding the inputs and the care that goes into the work that they do. My project went extremely well. From the free estimate, to scheduling, on through the day they poured the concrete. I couldn't be happier with my outdoor space. I've recommended them to all of my family and friends.Now, when I see their trucks around the hamilton county area,it reminds me of my patio haha. From schools, to parks, to residential work, Mattingly is certainly one of the most dependable and capable concrete contractors in the area. Not consistent. Two pours for driveway within two days, Friday and Monday and they are different color and different brush marks. Crew is good, but I see waves on some slabs which speaks of past installs of not consistent leveling. I was stuck between paying a lot of paying a fair price for a house I am selling. If this was my forever house I would not hire them. Also had issues with concrete edging and worse I told them no noise before 7am and once I went in the house they did it any way and I have long term neighbors that were pissed. read more

Had them pour a new driveway 3-4 years ago before the pandemic. Well over $10,000. The did it in two pours. 1st half of the pour stopped just after the lake you see in this picture. They either set the forms to far apart, didn't order enough concrete or enough concrete was not delivered. Either way it was their responsibility. Installers had to know when they tried to level it that this was a problem. I asked them about it as soon as the pour was done and was told this was within tolerance for level on concrete pours. I don't know what is or isn't correct. All I know is every time it rains a little I have lake in the drive and even when it is dry it is discolored compared to the surrounding concrete and sticks out like a sore thumb. 2nd picture is of the expansion joints over where they installed a new culvert. Other parts of the drive they did not disturb as much have not settled(cracked) as much. My opinion the sub base was not compacted as well as it should have or the cracks would not be this wide. I recently scheduled Mattingly Concrete to replace and re-pour my front porch concrete pad and a new path with steps, after previously making the mistake of letting a rando repairman "concrete" patch the same area...which immediately started falling apart 6 months later. Both my dad and granddad owned commercial concrete businesses and were probably turning over in their graves, with the shoddy cheap work I had first contracted out. I knew I needed a more reputable concrete business and needed to pay more for quality work; after research, I decided on Mattingly. Knowing that concrete work picks up dramatically with warmer weather, I reached out to Mattingly in February in order to get on their spring project queue. A project coordinator was able to come out within the week. We talked about what I was looking for and he put together a quote within the next day or so. Customers are required to put down 10% of the quote, which I immediately did. You receive a pretty extensive contract with a lot of legalese and expectations (i.e. don't salt your concrete after, cracks may occur, liability concerns, etc.). Mattingly utilizes texting/email to keep customers up-to-date, which I appreciate. Because of the COVID situation, my project date was rescheduled a few times, but Mattingly was very prompt and kept me up-to-date via text, phone calls, etc. On the project date, Mattingly was able to remove the old concrete via drilling and re-pour within one (1) day, which was amazing. My neighbor commented on how quick the project went and how good the concrete looked. Even though my front porch was probably a lot smaller in scale than Mattingly's typical projects, I felt they still treated it as just as important as a huge driveway or landscaping project. The resulting concrete looks great and will last much longer than the previous attempt. I'm sure my dad & granddad would give their approval. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. My HOA hired Mattingly to replace sections of sidewalks and driveways in my subdivision. The work was started in February of this year. I noticed that there were dark spots and "pitting" on those new sections. I notified my HOA management company of the issues mid-March. I was not the only one who had issues with the replaced concrete. Mattingly came out at the beginning of May and "patched" one of the dark spots that had started pitting and it looks AWFUL. It took Mattingly until mid-June to respond, and they basically said that they are not responsible for the issues as they are common. So now I am stuck with newly poured concrete that looks awful. read more

Our driveway was installed by Mattingly in the fall 2017 and 4-5 months later it started to crumbling all over - was told it was due to road salt. After several months of contacting the company, they agreed to remove the driveway and reinstall a new one. It looked great except for the fact that the crew forgot to place a finishing/smooth surface and line on the edge of the driveway that extended from the garage, about 8-10 feet, to connect with the existing edging that extends to the street. I hadn't noticed it was missing until I was looking out from inside my garage. Representative came out and his comment was "yes, it does look odd" and left. A neighbor had Mattingly install their driveway and it started crumbling about a year and a half later. They were told it was not in warranty - it's about 2 - 2 1/2 years old now and it is still crumbling. It was not sealed. When your neighbor's driveways, that have been there for 20+ years without sealing look better than your replaced driveway, there is a concern. Mattingly suggest that I have the driveway sealed and contacted their recommendation. It was sealed by 317 Seal, Inc. in 2018 immediately after the curing time was done. No sure as to how long this seal will last or if I need to have it done again before winter sets in - for the past two weeks contacted this company with several phone calls and left voice mails w/no response. No information is available on their website and I was not given any form of document. read more

Horrible performance. A large job of 25000$ plus. Irregular stairs of 2"s in 5 steps. Pooling water on stairs and patios due to poor grade. Damage to pool equipment with concrete on cover motor and retractor ropes. Billing errors - for work done by others. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. The lady who answered the phone couldn't find the address to my home. So, I proceeded to give her the address to the model home. She had issues locating both addresses and was very rude! I will take my project elsewhere. read more

Mattingly Concrete installed my driveway 4 inches higher than surrounding ground and they are telling me it is my financial responsibility to pay to regrade half my yard to accommodate their installation. After 2 days of disputing their installation they are now threatening to send me to collections. read more

Do not ever use them for pouring a patio for your hot tub- they didn't include the rebar to make it to code and then would not make it right. We had stray voltage in our hot tub and they lawyered up immediately instead of working with the electrician and the hot tub company to figure it out. They were rude and disrespectful to The specialist from Duke energy and everyone involved. I have nothing positive to say about them. read more

Beware, this company has no integrity or customer service and not flexible for even small changes. After waiting nearly 2 months to get on their schedule, 2 days before the job starts they come back with a 50% cost increase to make a very small modification (that they said wouldn't be a big deal). Either they completely misestimated the original job and didn't want to admit it or this is a business tactic to lock people in and raise the price at the last minute because it would take weeks to get on another company's schedule, either way very shady and poor customer service. Find another company! Keep looking around! Had they be up front about their estimate or ability to change this could have been totally different, but handling it in a shady manor tells me there are bigger problems at this company. In response to owner comment - I'd be happy to review the facts with you if you'd like to call me back, but that's just not true. I asked one question your guys backed out and then I couldn't get a hold of anyone to explain, there was no frustration until you dropped the job with no explanation, there was shock, which anyone would have when you raised the price without explanation. The trail is clear, simple communication would have made it a lot easier and probably could have worked something out, but rather than try to help me understand your team decided not to help explain where things went wrong, maybe to cover up a mistake, maybe laziness, maybe just a bad choice in communication, I don't know because I couldn't get anyone to talk to the facts and there were just wrong information that your team had. Mattingly recently re-did my driveway. I was very impressed with Mattingly's professionalism, especially after dealing with a very frustrating contractor for my basement remodel last year that devolved into a yelling match at one point. Not Mattingly! They removed an old basketball goal for me at no charge while doing the demo of the old driveway, and even patched some of the old city-owned concrete where the street met my driveway, also at no charge. When I came out to ask questions about how the work was being done, they were more than happy to explain it to me. Despite there being a lot of rain that week, Mattingly was able to get my driveway demoed, poured, and finished on-schedule without any damage to my yard. Further down the street, Mattingly redid a neighbor's driveway, and corrected... for free... a mistake that they had made in the drainage slope of that driveway. Which involved re-pouring two entire slabs. Mattingly also poured a beautiful back patio for my next-door neighbor. At the end of the job, when their coordinator found that my neighbor's yard had been torn up a bit by their equipment during the pouring, Mattingly brought in a landscaper and re-grassed that part of the yard at no cost to my neighbor. So everyone on our street is very impressed with both Mattingly's work, and their professionalism. I can't speak to the exact circumstances of those who say their driveways are crumbling. But if I were to talk to them, I'd have to ask if they sealed their new driveways after 2 months as Mattingly strongly suggested. Some people (even my next-door neighbor once) forget that salt will dissolve concrete. So you can't spread salt on your driveway in the winter (use calcium carbonate instead), and you need to at least seal the end of your driveway to keep the salts put down by the city from dissolving the end of your driveway where it meets the street. Better yet, regularly seal the whole driveway to keep the salts tracked in by your car from doing the same to your whole driveway. Particularly if you regularly leave your cars parked on the driveway in the winter. read more
