So excited to see that they now have a permanent home in beautiful Sandgate and went to check out their new cafe this weekend.Located in a quieter section of Rainbow Street, their cafe is perfect for the local community and regular visitors. The decor is stylish yet simple (check out the mural on the wall!) and the coffee tastes as good as it always has! I came to visit on day 3 and already it is hard to find a seat. Well done to the team at Wired Owl Coffee Co. Always friendly and amazing coffee - what more could anyone ask for. Love it!

The dead cute Queenslander is lovely and open with a great park / glimpse of sea view outlook. As it's high on the bluff there's also a decent breeze. I went on a public holiday, so had to pay a surcharge but that's pretty standard. I shared a vegie fry up and pancakes with a friend, the eggs were soft poached (yay!) and the mushrooms and spinach were garlicky and tasty. Hash browns were also a nice touch. The pancakes were fluffy with a giant ball of ice cream. Shame the syrup was completely fake, but for less than $10 a serve what do you expect?

Cypher is right next door to Sandgate train station, which is ever so handy when I'm on my way to work. They always greet with a smile and are super polite, which is something I always look for when I try new places. I've had coffee from Cypher on a Saturday morning, week day morning during rush hour and on weekdays outside of rush hour, made by different baristas and I've always had a great coffee. You can text ahead, which is super convenient when I know I'll have no time to spare between getting to the station and getting on the train. Cypher also serve light meals and although I've not tried their food, what I've seen looks pretty great. Sandgate, you finally have a great place for coffee ... thank goodness for Cypher!

Staff seemed very quiet and preferred to stay in the kitchen. I chose the Spanish Eggs and my friend chose the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Sadly, neither were inspiring when they reached the table. I have never seen eggs benedict served on a bread roll and the hollandaise sauce tasted like it was from a jar despite a large serving of it. Spanish Eggs are traditionally served in a clay pot or bowl, with the tomato & bean mixture on the base with the eggs cracked into it and baked in the oven. Not this version - poached eggs on the side, with the tomato, caper & olive mixture in a separate serving bowl. However, the toasted turkish bread was tasty and plentiful. Coffee was ok and I can see this place being popular during the week with local workers. Maybe I am just over cafes all serving the same dishes with the same outcomes. When was the last time we went to a cafe who served freshly made hollandaise sauce or had items on the menu that truly reflected their style & background?? One last thing, if you are going to have pop/rock photos on the walls - can you please play some music to reflect your design? I would probably go again, but not for a while.

The great sense of community and bustle that is present makes up for the understandably delayed coffee orders. The coffee is well made and the food is standard cafe fare.
