The facilities…read moreare outdated, the class schedule is nearly impossible to get into, and everything is falling apart. Even the dispensers for shampoo and conditioner in the showers don't work correctly. The jacuzzi and sauna are too cold, instructors for classes suck, and the pool feels like a free community pool. This is a gym that people are paying luxury rates for and it feels sooo low class. It's just shocking how bad the amenities are tbh. They should make their class cancellation policy stricter so you don't have waitlists of 10+ people that all clear at the last minute. Super annoying system. I never would have joined virgin active if I had gone to this one first. Horrible gym.

The biggest problem with VA Swiss Cottage is its total focus on making money rather than providing good service. I train in the pool at least twice a week but if you don't get there at very specific times (early morning or late evening) you have 1 lane for members whilst lessons or family swim activities go on. The things that cost money (e.g. fixing Wattbike's that are always broken) are completely disregarded until you complain (sometimes several attempts needed). If I had a more convenient choice that put it's members first I would take it.

So i'm a bit of a gym rat / fitness freak and i've been going to this gym since I moved to the area…read moreabout a year ago. It's in a great area and the best thing is that it's open 24 hours a day, which is perfect for me. Over the last few years, due to the recession, we have seen a lot of these cheap gym chains sprouting up and I usually go with the saying 'you get what you pay for'. Now where that's usually proved me right for the most part, it's completely untrue with this gym chain. Monthly rates are dirt cheap, usually around £20 and the gym has everything you could want and need in a gym - state of the art equipment, full range of free weights, stretching areas, changing rooms, classes and PT sessions. Notice I said gym and not HEALTH CLUB. When I go to the gym I like to TRAIN not swim, jacuzzi, play tennis, steam room, spa or play tennis. If that's what you want then this place is not for you, as it hasn't got any of them and you want somewhere like VIRGIN ACTIVE or DAVID LLOYD and the price that comes with it (upwards of £65 per month plus joining fee). When I joined this gym I was shocked at how cheap it was a month as I would have gladly paid double every month as that's what I was expecting to pay at least. It's clean, nicely decorated and has everything you would need and more in a gym. A few recommendations - - Take full advantage of the 24 hour services. I would say to not train after work 6-10pm on weekdays as you will not be able to do what you need to do in less than 2 hours so you may as well not have gone. I go before work during the week and sometimes at weekends and have no problem using the equipment I need. - They don't have a wide range of classes so take a look at what they have on the website and see if they do things you like if thats a factor for you. - Don't get PT sessions here. I've trained athletes and know bad trainers when I see them. Apart from a few, most of the trainers here recycle their sessions and don't make sure their clients are doing the exercises correctly. I think they care more about their money than helping them. Or if you do want sessions here send me a message and i'll recommend the good ones and I promise I don't know any of them personally to just be giving them your business! Apart from those minor points if you live local and are looking for a gym I thoroughly recommend this place!

Always has been clean for me, and the other patrons are a nice cross-section (read: not full of gym rats). PT professionals I have not seen to be amazing for the price - they seem more just like the contractors who didn't have a job elsewhere - and they cost 50 to 80 an hour typically. Better to head to Pure Fitness or to another big London PT house for that price (and maybe get medical insurance to cover it). The nautilus machines and free weights are plentiful during non-peak hours, though can get a bit crowded with the afterwork crowd. Either way, the gym is great value for money if you're within walking distance.

I conducted a google search for gyms in the area, and Fit4less appeared. I called ahead to ask if the gym had a few key requirements. I was greeted by a very friendly women, who assured me they had everything i'd need. So i agreed to visit the location in Kilburn. The gym is quite big, and has everything you'd need to get in a good workout. It has a squat rack, a smith machine, a bench press, an incline and decline bench press, and tons of benches. It also has multiple cardio machines, ranging from treadmills to bikes, to ellipticals. They also have TRX bands set up for use. The bathrooms are small, yet clean. The only thing missing from the females change room is a full length mirror. The staff are friendly, and helpful. The only issue i have had is waiting for the squat rack. The price is the best part. Fit4Less is half the price of Fitness First, its opening hours are much better, and all in all, its a much better gym!

The facility turned out to be a closet in a small gym in the basement in the less than modern Danubius Hotel. Our first red flag was that the woman at the reception desk had never even heard of them and there wasn't even a sign on the door. The room had the ambiance of a locker room complete with dodgy door that was off its track. My wife made an appointment with Hannah (the director) for the both of us but when we arrived, we were met by a different therapist who was friendly enough and knowledgeable about personal training and exercise, but as soon as the massage began it became obvious that is where the expertise ended. Our sports massage was an uncomfortable mix of excessive oil, kneading, and fingernails that left my wife with bruises up and down her legs. We contacted Hannah who runs the company and after explaining our awful experience we got offered a refund, which we never received after further attempts at communication. I can only conclude that this person does not keep their word and therefore I would be leery of doing business with someone like that and my advice would be to steer clear of these services even if they do offer up a discounted voucher. There are plenty of other alternatives out there. Update: Mail T's review was added the very next day after mine. It is a very obvious attempt to try and fluff up their service after my awful experience.

The people who workout here do…read morenot understand the rules or working out by which I mean properly putting equipment and weights back where they belong. The worst part is the trainers don't either and as they are working out with clients or working out themselves they don't have their clients put stuff back nor do they when they are working out. I have emailed customer service about it and I received a very canned response and nothing has changed from it. It would be very helpful if the trainers would put stuff away because the members might then follow their example. In the morning the gym is trashed by the members at night but the cleaning crew does an incredible job of cleaning in the morning. I see him arrive early in the morning and tackle a job that scare most anyone away. I have not tried their classes since they don't align with my schedule so nothing to comment on there.

The guest pass codes constantly do not work. I invited friends multiple times, only for them to be refused entry because the system failed. It was embarrassing, frustrating, and a total waste of everyone's time. What exactly am I paying for? The condition of the building is even worse. Every time it rains, the gym leaks like a broken roof warehouse. There are colourful buckets scattered everywhere to collect dripping water, it honestly looks ridiculous and completely unprofessional. This is not what you expect from a gym charging premium membership fees. To make matters worse, the gym is frequently temporarily closed because of these leaking issues. As a paying member, it is unacceptable to arrive ready to train only to find the place shut due to ongoing maintenance problems that clearly have not been properly fixed. For the amount of money charged for an Ultimate membership, the service and facility standards are shockingly poor. Basic systems don't work, the building is not properly maintained, and members are left disappointed again and again. I strongly advise anyone thinking of joining this The gym to think very carefully before signing up. Save your time, save your money, and avoid the frustration.
