okay, for starters I haven't been going here long but already hate it and will be looking else where for getting help with my depression. they have a cancelation policy (like any other practice) and I adhere to that. my work schedule CONSTANTLY changes so if I get told short notice I have to go into work I go into work. I called 24/hrs (within their business hours) prior to my scheduled session and I STILL got charged a cancelation fee. so they expect us to follow their policies they don't even follow???? joke of a place. front desk staff/ schedulers are also rude and not the nicest. considering this is a place for people to turn too not the way to make people want to come back. read more

I am over this place! The desk staff speaks to you in a very condecending mannder... GREAT job guys, for people who already need help! They acted like I was inconveniencing them by asking for any kind of help in selecting a therapist for my 16 year old son for general anxiety. After scouring through the list of their therapists online and choosing one, they say "sorry that person does not see under 18"... UMmmm ok well who does? Then they give me only two options... I say ok that makes it easier to decide! Then I look for the name of the first person they give me and low an behold no bio for that person. I say "can you tell me anything about this person".... the receptionist has the audacity to say "you can Google her". Um... again.... the therapist had a common name and I could not believe they asked me to Google... This place is a joke and CLEARLY they do not care about someone's mental health. I too am a patient there.... I had one session and it went ok, but it just is not the warm and fuzzy vibe you would want from a therapy center. SOLID no for me!! read more

The only reason I continue to deal with the highly unfriendly front office staff and scheduling is due to the doctor that I currently see and have a wonderful working relationship with. I value the psychologist I see but do not appreciate the administrative staff. They make scheduling as difficult as jumping through hoops of fire. This office has extremely lengthy policies such as filling out a "new patient" packet if you do not come in for six months. This requires you to come in 20 Minutes early and you are considered a "new patient" even if you have seen a certain doctor many times. What if I go through a good time in my life and don't NEED the services for six months? That should be a positive thing I feel. If your insurance does not cover, this is one of the most expensive offices I have ever been to at almost 250/hour. Please do your research well. read more

*This review is for ONE doctor at this firm, not Matrix as a whole* If this review had been written 2 weeks ago, it might've read 3-4 stars. (Actually it probably wouldn't have been written at all) I suggested my husband go to a counselor to get some stress management techniques as he's in a very high stress job. This was the only reason he went to Dr. Brandon Kozar (sp?) and made that clear. You have to fill out all kinds of personal info on the first visit which is to be expected. My husband was helped by the techniques he taught and Dr. Kozar said he could end sessions in two more visits as he was confident in his progress with handling stress. (He was going to stop going anyway because he wasn't really getting much from him at that point) When it was brought up the other day that it was the 2nd to last session, Dr. Kozar acted like he'd never said that and started grasping at the checklist he'd filled out on the first visit looking for things that were possible family issues and began blowing them up to make them into something they weren't in what appeared to be a sad attempt to keep him in counseling. It was quite obvious what he was doing and really shook my husband's confidence in what he thought was a decent counselor. He was also not comfortable that Dr. Kozar felt the need to curse during sessions, dropping the F bomb several times in an attempt to look relatable. Don't get me wrong, we say our share of curse words but when you're seeing someone in a professional capacity for their help, the last thing you need is some dude with perceived acceptance issues trying to be your "bro." Needless to say if he ever needed the advice of a counselor in the future, he is now the last person he'd ever go to since it seemed quite obvious he was trying to get him to pay for sessions he didn't ask for or want. Sessions, I might add, that were $30-40 per session OVER the quoted prices after they had done extensive research into our insurance and refused to see him until insurance was locked. The only reason I'm writing this is because I feel it's important for people to be aware when someone in a professional capacity may be trying to work a client over to put more money in his own pocket whether that was his intent or not. read more

I have had a series of terrible experiences. Therapists don't seem to stay long. I saw a nurse practitioner for meds and it was a grueling process to try and find something that worked, when I felt better after I weaned off. Now I am lacking motivation, feeling overwhelmed and I feel worse after my appointment. It's a terrible experience. My appointment was 30 minutes late for 5 minutes of just plain having to review my chart and asking me what meds I would think would work. How the hell am I supposed to know? I'm at a point where I need help, not a shove off a cliff. read more

This practice was recommended by my Family Doctor. I scheduled an appointment back in August for the first available appointment which was Monday, September 24, 2018. I called Monday morning to confirm the appointment, as I had received no contact since August. I was told, "Due to a database merger the appointment was canceled and subsequently 'filled' by another patient." Asked why I wasn't contacted when the issue was first discovered, and why I wasn't rescheduled immediately. I simply received an 'I am sorry' response 'can I reschedule you.' My new appointment was for today, Thursday September 27 at 5pm. This afternoon, I receive notification that it too has been cancelled without explanation AND the appointment has been filled for tonight and would I like to reschedule for the following Monday. Previous reviews indicate the focus of this practice is not the patient. My experience supports that review. read more

People go to therapy many reasons. One of which is panic disorders and anxiety. I went to a doctor there who was very kind at first. Relatable and seemed to genuinely want to help me. Panic attacks are a horrible thing to go through and when a person goes through them they need reassurance and patience and help getting out of the "fog." I called my therapist on a bad morning in the midst of a bad panic attack hoping he could help me pull out of the fear .. just wanted to hear a friendly reassuring voice. Instead he tells me I need to check myself into Harding hospital. So the fear of "going crazy" was then amplified by 100x. It took my family doctor to help me realize this could have been very damaging to me. In addition I called to make my daughter an appointment because she was having anxiety about school (she is 7) their first response was to take her to a mental hospital. Please do research before coming here... they could have done a lot of harm to me and my daughter. Never again. read more

As a business, they are decent. I find that when I ask for an itemized receipt to use for my HSA, they cannot give me one for the actual session I am attending. In regards to specific therapists, Dr. Schroeder is fantastic and I'd recommend her to anyone. Personable, understandable, patient, listens well, and best of all... provides real, valid, usable input. I had seen 4 therapists for various things earlier in life, and all were of the sort that sat back and did the, "Tell me more," "Expand on that," "Yep, uh huh," "Please go on..." without actually giving you anything to work with. I like that there is progress, and real things being thrown around with ways to cope or reduce what is happening. I picked Dr. Schroeder for the cool German name and that my insurance/employer covered her. I lucked out and could not be happier with the randomness working out. read more

Stay away from this place. I should have checked them out first before calling. If I could give no stars I would. I called to make an appointment for my son. I was able to get an appointment for sooner than I expected and I was very happy and impressed about this. Unfortunately, I missed the appointment and I called back to reschedule. I was told that because of the missed appointment I would have to pay a fee before I could be rescheduled. I figured that this was only fair since I had wasted their time. I paid the fee. The next appointment I was offered was in a month's time! I asked if I could be placed on a cancelation list and provided the times that I would be available. I was told that this was not possible because I was a first time patient. I told the lady on the other line that it wasn't fair and that I felt that I was being penalized for not showing up for my appointment. She told me that my son was not in a life or death situation and that I could go some where else if the end of November was not alright with me. She told me that if I felt penalized that I should go see someone else, another provider. I told her I felt like I had no choice since I had already paid them and I would probably have to pay the next provider, so I would go ahead and take the date she offered. She then says that if I feel that way that they would rather not reschedule me at all. Needless to say, I felt scammed. I wasn't told that I would have to wait a month, or I would not have bothered. What goes around comes right back around. I would leave this business in the hands of God. No one should take anyone's hard earned money in such a manner. read more

Dr. Kozar helped me tons. I had long standing work related anxiety which was acutely exacerbated by a family trauma. I saw him 3 times over 6 weeks and I was better than ever. After that he only sees me a couple times a year....Thanks "bro". read more

I am a 57 year old gay man who has been struggling with anxiety and all the other "fun" things that come with having had a challenging childhood and suffering from PTSD. I've had 8 therapists in my life including three renown psychiatrists. I can say without hesitation or reservation, none of my previous therapists have been able to help me as quickly and effectively Dr. Kozar. This is one therapist who is not married to one exclusive mode of treatment, but who can appropriately and effectively help his patient with what I would call a hybrid of different therapeutic techniques. There are sessions when we are clearly doing cognitive therapy and Dr. Kozar is helping me to realize that I don't have to always react to the same stimuli the same way and there are sessions when re-visit life-changing experiences that have impacted my perceptions of myself and others. Just today I remarked to a close relative that I had all but given up on finding a shrink who could really help update my personal "operating system." No, I'm not suddenly the happiest, most serene or confident person, but in just 6-7 months of weekly session with Brandon Kozar, I'm managing my anger and tendency to overreact to the world around me. As a social worker myself, I've always cognitively known that it is the individual who ultimately determines his/her happiness in life. Dr. Kozar is helping me to develop the capacity to learn how to roll with the punches that life throws at us everyday. read more
