(Summer 2016) Conveniently, while walking I stumbled upon the window of this Spanish school, the owner had been inside as she was setting the school up. (She was new to the strip of Smithtown) I requested a card and some information. I took a chance by signing my Oldest son up (3 years old)- he is extremely shy, and does not take to many places very easily. I expected him to resist the school (especially because he is shy - young and learning social cues- now throwing in a a second language/ culture) My son took very well. The teacher (also the owner) is more than just a teacher, she truly loves these kids. I am the creep that walked by the school at all random times to check in on my son. I feel safe leaving my son with her. In addition my son comes home with all sorts of information on culture and language. She makes learning less of a chore and more of a game. My oldest son loves it so much that now I send my youngest son (just turned two) and he is thrilled. I can't say enough good things about this school, the teacher & the environment. Parking can stink at times because it's in town, but it's close enough to a corner making parking lots a lot more available for a short little walk. The price is well worth the experience for these children& the owner is more than willing to help you work within your budget- although this is her job you can tell that this is also her dream and passion. The staff is as equally as warm and welcoming. The teachers and other staff are NYS certified and have many years of experience. The facility that houses Galileo Preschool and Daycare is well kept and very clean. The curriculum and educational program is equitable to the local school districts. Children are happy, well cared for, and enjoy wonderful learning opportunities such as themed cooking classes each with a Registered Dietitian, sensory play and age appropriate Math, Science and Literacy activities. Galileo Preschool helped my child become ready for Kindergarten and build the necessary social emotional skills that would ensure future success.

When my wife and I found out about Kumon in 2013, when the kids were 4, 6 and 9 years old, we figured we'd give it a try, a little boost to ensure academic success. Fast forward to the present - those "kids" are now 14, 16 and 19. The oldest is in SUNY Binghamton majoring in Mathematics. She likes math. She's getting As and 100s. She got a 1350 on her SATs. The middle kid is in all AP and Honors 11th grade classes and her GPA is 95. The youngest is in 9th grade with the AP and Honors courses and he's also at a GPA of 95. They excel academically. The best thing that Kumon does is it gets children accustomed to the idea that success is attained through hard work. They learn over the years that consistent hard work produces success. Kumon is not easy. Sometimes, yes, there will be stretches of familiar work, but difficult mathematical concepts will present themselves. Getting to where these concepts can be comprehended involves failure, frustration, and patience. Over time, it is learned that they can confront difficult problems and succeed. Always. This connection - hard work + consistency + patience = success ... this stays with them for life. This work ethic will enable them to master whatever is put before them. The academic confidence my kids have, the understanding that when confronted with an academic challenge, it is a pain in the ass, but with patience and work they will understand it, because they have been in this situation with Kumon hundreds of times before, and they know the drill and they anticipate their success with confidence. And in the end (which, for us, is when my kids stopped Kumon in the summers after 8th grade), you, as a parent, will end up with confident, patient, hard-working young adults who are readily able to confront academic challenges. They will be imbued with the ingrained understanding that with consistent hard work they can pursue anything they want to, academically or otherwise, with the self-assuredness of future success. This mindset is gold. P.S. it has to be an all-in whole family affair. You (and your significant other) have to help your child grind through challenges week in and week out. It is worth it.

I wanted my son to complete his first year before writing my review to see how the full school year went. This school has been great for us in so many ways. Our son who is now just over 2 has completed his first Stepping Stones year. His two teachers Ms. Celina and Ms. Lisa treat our son and his classmates as if they were their own children. The kids get a lot of care and attention. The classroom environment is a very positive and well organized one. Our son loves going there every single day, which makes life easier for us parents knowing our kid loves it there and is in great hands. The other families who attend there have been very welcoming and friendly. Within just 1 year we have become friends with many of the parents at the school and love hanging out with them outside of school. The staff really goes above and beyond for the children and parents. Whenever we visit the school, everyone's always in a great mood. If you're looking for a school where your kids won't get lost in the mix this is a perfect school. The school is also very safe - everyone there takes school safety very seriously which is so important these days. They even has a summer program for the children which is great. The school and parents do an awesome job with the events they organize for the students and parents. I've had the pleasure to get to know the Head of School, Meg Sheehan. This school is staffed with the most amazing individuals. No one ever does not have the time to speak with you. Someone is always willing to help, guide and explain things. Our son has only worked with 8 of the teachers, however I have personally gotten to know every single one of them and know them. They are all amazing. I would be comfortable and confident putting my son in ANY of their classes. Recently our country was turned upside down, quickly. Without skipping a beat, the administrative staff, teachers & assistants all stepped up and put in 150% of effort to reconstruct how they teach our children. They learned a new way to ensure that all of our children were still learning. Everyday. From the classrooms all the way to gym class!
