Review for Huntington Learning Center of Woodstock…read more Our experience with the Huntington Learning Center of Woodstock this summer was unfortunately disappointing--especially considering we had worked with them in the past, under a different director, with no issues at all. The change in management has significantly impacted the professionalism and overall experience. We enrolled both of our sons for summer tutoring and had initially agreed upon a discounted rate with the previous director for enrolling multiple children. However, that agreement was later disregarded by the owner, who insisted we pay the full amount--$5,000--upfront, even though no assessments or personalized learning plans had been completed yet. We clearly stated our intention to pay weekly while Huntington conducted evaluations and developed a structured academic plan. Instead of honoring that, the owner repeatedly pressured us and even interrupted one of my son's tutoring sessions--not only disrupting his learning but also directly questioning him, a minor, about how he planned to pay for the session. We found this to be highly inappropriate and unprofessional. Despite no game plan being shared and assessments still pending, she sold expensive books to our sons--knowing they had a credit card meant only for weekly session payments--and charged the books without our prior approval. Shortly afterward, she emailed us stating that services would be discontinued because we hadn't paid the full $5,000 upfront. We attempted to continue the program at the Alpharetta location, where the director initially had everything set up for us to start. However, after speaking with the Woodstock owner, he reversed course and refused to work with us as well. We then requested the academic assessments we had already paid for. The owner first refused to provide them, and after we pointed out that the assessments were conducted during paid sessions, she reluctantly agreed to send them but said she would not explain the results. We told her that was fine--but we never received anything. Fortunately, we are now working with a different tutor outside of Huntington. While his hourly rate is slightly higher, the total time built into his program is less than half of what Huntington wanted to charge us $5,000 for--and we are already seeing amazing results. After this experience, my older son even admitted that Huntington seemed to intentionally move slowly to extend the timeline and charge for more sessions. We're sharing this review to help other families make an informed decision. Our past experience with Huntington Woodstock was smooth and productive under the former director, but since the change in leadership, our experience has been marked by broken agreements, unprofessional behavior, and poor communication. We're relieved to have found a more effective and transparent alternative.

Conferences to review the initial assessment were scheduled and then cancelled on two consecutive days. The staff is evidently not privy to her schedule to assist them when they are scheduling conferences or she approved them (one employee put me on hold to speak with her about availability) and then had staff call me to reschedule due to a meeting one day and "administrative" duties the next. When she called at my request so that a schedule could be resolved for the conference she was rude, stated that conferences were never scheduled before noon ( I was offered several 11:30am slots or from 9-3 on the second day), and stated that having the assessor involved in the conference was not the way they did things even though that was a request that was granted when I scheduled/rescheduled on both dates. I questioned why the communication between her and her staff was so lacking and this made her mad. She said that now the assessor would not be in the conference. I stated, while being rudely talked over repeatedly, that none of this was shared verbally or with a brochure when I iinitially contracted for services and that as educators we look at the whole child to assess strengths and weaknesses so it was important that the person who assessed him provide feedback on demeanor, attentiveness, etc. during assessment. She (the director) had never even met the child. She never offered a time/date for a conference. I stated that this was not in the child's best interest and that I'd just like my money back and she could keep the assessment results. She said no and that I could pick up the results(no conference for explanation or suggestions). She then said "I have another conference and hung up on me. If this is indicative of how Huntington works then my professional advice is to steer clear of them if you want help for your child.

My child has been crying every day of the new school year, emotionally distraught and has lost all confidence that had finally been gained. The leadership and board doesn't really care about the students just about the money and the mask they show the community. Unfortunately the reviews don't always tell about the people they kick to the curb.

He's a normal 4 year old, and when behaviors happened at home, we disciplined him. But we were never aware of the frequency at school they were happening. After speaking to a few teachers, they confirmed what would happen and that the behaviors did happened, and our son was never guided through emotions. He was left to just deal with it without help from a teacher to guide him through what he was feeling. Ultimately, this didn't keep him emotionally safe or teach him how to process the emotions. This also enabled behavior by the teachers, and ultimately, a reflection on the lack of leadership over the daycare itself by the owner. A child needs guidance. Now that we are aware, we are working in collaboration with his school to give him the help he needs as well as a few therapies. Due to all of this, we pulled our toddler who was still there and secured another location for him. When I brought this information to the attention of the owner, she had the audacity to say that it was not happening. I told her I had the confirmation that the behaviors did occur and what was done. She stayed silent. The lack of responsibility and ownership of your own business is appalling and abysmal. The infant room teacher and the 2s teacher are the best teachers in the world, this place is lucky to have them, but in all honesty, those two teachers are too good for Little Minds. Everyone who knows the infant lead teacher and 2s teacher would gladly keep them, but 3s and up, do not send your child here if you want them emotionally safe. We really feel as though things were not reported to us just to keep numbers and money coming in or the teachers are inadequate for the 3s room. Either way, it's unacceptable. I wish we had pulled our son after the 2s teacher. It went down hill from there. I came back on to edit my post. Everything above is true, but I wanted to add that my son has been in speech and doing wonderful. His speech therapist happened to ask where he started at with daycare, and I told her Little Minds. The speech therapist said, "say no more. I've had many kids from this facility." This is horrible that the speech therapist knew the daycare by name. I should have never trusted this place.

We signed my son up for 6 months so that he could get additional help with his 6th grade math. For…read more~2-3 months of picking him up and him telling us they worked on math that my 3rd grader is currently doing (and that he had no issue doing on the pre-test they give, ie multiplication facts of 2's, 7's, etc). I told him to speak up and let them know he didn't need to work on that but to help him with what they were actually working on in school. I spoke to the manager when I dropped him off and she was kind and took the pages out of his "curriculum book" as well as marked off that he did not need to do those things. I thought this was it. NOPE! We took in one day for help with some homework. He had only completed 2 problems during the hour he was there and said the lady gave him a sheet of their work vs helping him with his homework...that he still did not understand. I then asked to speak with the head guy, Justin, who called me the next day. He proceeded to laugh and tell me my son was "pulling one over on" and lying to me b/c they were not doing those multiplication problems with him. He also told me that he should be there for 1.5 hours 2-3 days/week in 6th grade. My son was being released at 1 hour to leave on the days we took him and would be waiting at the front door when we picked him up. He told me for the first time that it is their policy to work on their curriculum and only do homework for 30 minutes and only work on school quiz information for limited amount of time because they worked on their curriculum. "We are not a tutoring service". This information was not made clear when we signed up- otherwise we would never have enrolled. After a good 30 minutes on the phone with him insisting that my son was lying to me, he found where the sheets had been pulled and admitted that. We agreed there may have been some miscommunication. I thought we were all good but with summer decided to freeze the account b/c May has been too crazy for us to get him there and we will be gone June and July. Today I got a call from Melanie about a 1 star review I had given on an email I rec'd from them. When I called her back she said she wanted to discuss this and get more insight into why I was dissatisfied. When I tried to talk to her and tell her my concerns, she began to speak over me and would not pause to hear me out. She proceeded to give me the option to terminate and pay them the difference of the 3 months membership fee (which is more than the 6 months so we would owe them more money) vs continuing for 2 months in the fall. I tried to again tell her my issues and she would not stop talking to hear me out and told me that she only needed to know what I wanted to do- the 2 options above or turn me into collections if we refused either. Lesson learned- do not sign up for something like this with a contract b/c they ultimately do not care if you are satisfied- you are under contract. Since dealing with this I have talked to some other people with similar experiences. Bottom line- save your money and hire a HS or college student to help your child with grade level, schoolwork they need help on. I have never dealt with such poor customer service in my life.

She has made close friends, and the entire grade level supports each other. She has told me there are no mean girls at this school, at least not in the 10th grade. In addition, the teachers and the curriculum are great. This is the best place for your children if you are a Christian. My daughter has learned so much about the Bible and how to apply it to her life. I do not doubt she will carry these principles into her life when she graduates. , Academically, under the direction of the counselor, Ms. Hood, the seniors receive incredible scholarships. This year, the seniors got $3.4 million in scholarships, which averages $192K for each recipient. Last year, scholarships was $200K per recipient. Incredible.
