If I could rate it as minus 1 star, I would do that gladly…read more My son is 7 years old. Due to personal issues he joined 1st grade in January. He missed a lot from school and I thought I should have him join some tutoring classes. I signed him for Kumon were they did a placement test and told me that he needs Reading and math classes. We started with them. After close to 8 months and hundreds of papers (and dollars) done at their place and as homework (that I needed to check and correct); here is where we were at: **He was doing subtraction in his school (and he was doing great) **while in Kumon he was still doing addition!!!! I addressed that with them and their answer was (he's not fast enough!!). Kumon is so structured and they don't think outside the box. On the other hand, Mathnasium has been GREAT with my kid. They started the placement test and they addressed his weaknesses... Made him practice what he needs to be better at and they give him ideas of how to think outside the box! How to make the problem solvable from another perspective. They don't give him homework, but he's welcome to go 6 days a week. Where, by the way, they do more like a one-on-one sessions. They make it personal. They make it fun. He's advancing there faster than in his school (that's the point of tutoring) and the main point is HE LOVES IT!!! Oh when I remember the nightmare that is Kumon: my son hated it, we were fighting all the time for him to do his homework (on top of the homework he gets from his school).. Even there in the Kumon center (where they were open only two days a week) he would do his work on his own.. They were not spending special time with him to teach him tricks or techniques.. They were mostly trying to get him to MEMORIZE BY HEART additions!! I'm so happy with Mathnasium and I highly recommend it to everyone who needs it! If you need more information about Kumon center, please private message me and I will be more than happy to meet you and talk to you about it in full. Good luck.

We had been using their services on and off for about 6 months. The sitters are hit or miss and I…read morewould recommend exercising caution because some just don't seem like they have had much experience with young kids or don't seem to be all that capable, so you take a risk. Let me put it this way: the background checks don't seem to be much more than those provided on other child care websites, they are more expensive but you get lower wage quality sitters because the franchise takes a cut of the hourly wage and my 15 year old does a better job babysitting than many of the sitters they send over. An example: once, I scheduled a back up care nanny through my work program for the day after fourth of July as I had to work. They called about 20 minutes before the nanny was to arrive. They described her as having been bitten by a dog in multiple places and in the ER for a good portion of the evening and into the early morning on the 5th. They were going to send her anyway, even though she wasn't "at her best." So this was who they were going to send to care for my very active 5 and 8 year old boys, who need someone who has the energy to be constantly supervising them. We haven't used the service since. I am not opposed in total, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it. In fairness, we have had a few good ones who my boys really liked and who I felt did a good job. It is just really hit or miss and the lack of training really shows for some. Also, the "nannies" part is a misnomer. They provide babysitters who will (probably) ensure your kids don't get into trouble or injure themselves but otherwise don't do much in the way of what I would consider full time nanny duties. I doesn't seem like they get much training.

With Brian's help, I got into the University of Virginia Darden School of Business on scholarship!…read moreI purchased a 10 class package from Brian to improve my GMAT Score. After learning through other self-paced test prep companies for over 10 months I hit a plateau and couldn't get the score I wanted. Even after my free consultation with Brian I realized that he is worth the money. Not only is he wickedly smart and helped me see the test from a totally new perspective but he also is able to communicate his logic when solving problems- which is something I could not find in any other GMAT tutor I consulted with! He also is incredibly patient. He went above and beyond as a tutor and regularly checked in on me to see how practice tests were going, how my studies were going, and even sometimes just words of encouragement throughout the week. He was more of a GMAT Coach than tutor, which I really appreciated! Even after my 10 sessions were up, I still had not gotten the score I wanted. Brian told me he would meet with me every week for free until I felt comfortable with my GMAT score. I really cannot recommend someone enough and he really is worth the money because he is one quality tutor. With his help, the price I paid for tutoring was a drop in the bucket compared to the massive scholarship I received. If you're undecided, give him a call for a free consultation, you won't regret it.

I was stuck there a year until I started working with Brian. Brian provides his students with surmount resources and confidence in their abilities to succeed. He truly is the best tutor and coach. After working with him, in only six months I was scoring in the mid to high 170's before I took my exam. His tutoring doesn't stop with standardize testing, as he then helped me as I applied to law schools, helping to read my essays and provide edits/advice. With his help I can successfully say I'm going to be attending a T6 Law School next fall and I can't thank him enough!!! Hire Brian, he works miracles and he is an amazing guy!
