I loved this place! Great location, cool rooms, and, most importantly, awesome staff. My favorite hotel on a recent European vacation.

We started with a chicken Caesar salad followed by an entrecôte with black peppercorn sauce and rosti potatoes served in a separate "Le Creuset" skillet. The Caesar salad impressed with its presentation and delighted in taste, a small deviation from the classical Caesar salad but surprising in its flavours. The entrecôte with black peppercorn sauce was grilled to perfection, simply delicious ! "U" - as this restaurant is simply called - is a reflection of the Flemish polite form for "You" which is how someone is addressed when being polite. It is also a reference to something of high standard, meaning it should be addressed accordingly, hence the name "U" for this high class restaurant. More than class, it simply serves excellent food and wine. This establishment will soon be at the top of every respectable restaurant review list. Try it out before reservations are only available in the distant future and waiting lists are the norm of the day.

We arrived ragged after the trip over the ocean. We were all able to check in when we arrived at probably around 2pm. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that I had been upgraded because of my diamond status. I was SHOOK when I saw what I was upgraded to. Let me put it this way, it is the only room I've ever seen that has a double door to get in. There were two bedrooms with multiple other rooms including a lovely living area. The master bathroom was one of the biggest hotel bathrooms I have ever had with a gigantic tub and separate shower. Everything inside the hotel felt old and continued the old world theme of the narrow alleyways and cobblestone streets of Antwerp and other Belgian cities. The location is fantastic. It literally faces a square with gorgeous views of the church. It is literally a few steps away from a bunch of restaurants and bars and similarly close to many other attractions in Antwerp. Everything was within walking distance. The bed was comfy. We didn't hear anything from our room. The linens were also soft. The towels were a nice touch. I don't think we could have chosen a better hotel for our stay in Antwerp.

Had some issues with TV not getting reception most of the time for certain financial news channels. Note that it's not an American breakfast with eggs and bacon. They have salami, ham, bread, cheese, yogurt, fruit, cereals , juice, and coffee. The rooms on the back side facing the water and the Mas are very quiet. The staff was all very friendly and super helpful. Like some hotels in Europe, they are on a dual-climate system. That means on a certain day, the hotel flips a switch and the system in your room (and the whole hotel) goes from being AC to being heat. I checked in my room and thought it was warm. So I turned what I thought was the AC all the way up and left the room. Big mistake! When in Europe always ask about the climate control systems! The window does open, but only about an inch due to a regulation. The beds were good, not great, but better than some of my other hotels. By European standards the room is huge. Staff was very friendly and super helpful. Unlike some hotels, the free wifi has good throughput. Definitely a great option when staying in Antwerp. Be sure to ask the hotel the best route to get to old town, as the small red light district is in between, but easily avoided.

The staff is super friendly and will help you locate anything you are looking for. We really liked everyone we dealt with. The hotel is super dark and the rooms are similarly dark, but with the curtains pulled back there's ample light. The bed was the comfiest of all the hotels we stayed at in Europe. The price was great with a summer sale at hotels dot com, and like I said, in a great area. The two downsides: Internet and shower. They have free wifi, which is fantastic, except the signal in our room was really weak (sometimes dropping and not connecting at all) and you had to enter a really long username/passcode every time you wanted to use the internet. I'm an iphone girl and I'm constantly checking the internet for addresses and places to go, so it was somewhat annoying having to always enter the info. Now the shower...while the water pressure is great (love that!), the problem is there's no door. And it's easily possible to flood the entire bathroom with one shower. It made the whole showering experience less than stellar because I was constantly stressed about flooding the bathroom. Overall, the hotel and staff were great and we really enjoyed our stay here. We'd just love some better internet and a shower door :)
