Short explanation: At best, they are simply cold, indifferent, and severely lacking customer…read moreservice skills. At worst, they are rude, mean and dishonest. After Amy's alterations closed across the street (where I was very happy), I decided to try A&A Alterations even though some online posts suggested the owner, the wife of the couple who owns the place was rude. When I first went, the wife was out of the country, and had someone else helping. This other lady was very nice and pleasant. When I went to pay, I was surprised at the $20 cost of having each of my 5 dress shirts taken in, when Amy did it for $14. I asked why so high, and the husband (who doesn't speak English) agreed to lower the price to $18. The work was perfectly fine. However, since the dress shirt still hung out loose around my waist, I wanted it taken in more. Usually, alterations places make additional adjustments at no additional charge. Since she thought the shirt would be too tight, I agreed to just try one and would bring the others back if it worked out well. At the same time, I brought additional shirts and pants to be altered, and had already also brought in a winter coat. All in all, I brought 10 shirts, a pair of pants, and a winter coat, totaling more than $250 in alterations. But AFTER having the new shirts pinned for sewing, the nice lady told me the price for those shirts would be $25--even more than the $20 originally stated the first time. She explained that the wife owner was going to be back in town when it was finished so they didn't want her to see that they had been charging less than the wife wants to charge. The lady said "she is mean." I said really? She said "I am nice, but she is mean." But she should have told me about the change in price before I spent 30 minutes trying on shirts to be pinned. Since I had invested the time, I went with it, knowing it would be the last time I went there. I tried to pick up the shirts multiple times in the evenings, as their sign says they are open till 7. But every night for a week they were gone by 6:20. After I did pick up the shirts, I noticed that all of them had the same excess material hanging out of my pants. I was right in telling the nice lady that it would NOT be too tight. As we had agreed could/would be done, I brought all the shirts back to be taken in more at the waist. This time the wife owner was back. She apparently does not speak English either. Their daughter communicated with me. After I told them I wanted the waist taken in more on the shirts as the nice lady had agreed we would do, they all began inspecting the shirts and the husband and wife began getting excited, seemingly arguing. I saw the apparent meanness of the wife owner that different sources had suggested existed. It all made me very uncomfortable. Finally, after much confusion (somehow) they told me I could try the shirts on for measurement for re-sewing. Being scared of surprise charges again, I asked if everything was ok, and if there was no problem in re-doing the shirts. The daughter told me that there would be additional charges, only now, after I asked. So after increasing the price to $25, and even though alterations places usually make additional adjustments, they were going to charge me still more for getting the shirt right when it was not right to begin with. And they were not nice about it at all. It was as though I was bothering them and they were doing me a favor just taking me as a customer at all. Separate from these bad business ethics, the owners seem very difficult and cold, if not outright mean. Even before the definitely mean wife returned, even with just the nice lady and the husband owner there the place felt awkward, and was stressful. I found myself dreading going back to try my shirts or to take new ones. Everything was difficult and unpleasant, separate from being costly and possibly deceitful. I am glad to be done with them.

Horrible customer service! Went in to ask for a price for hemming a pair of pants and sewing…read morepatches onto a military uniform the lady looked at me and said "no" and walked away leaving me at the counter. Absolutely un-believable!
