I really like this gym. I tried it today for the first time. Here are some quick notes on it:…read more 1. Well-maintained equipment. The pulleys on the machines pulled smoothly. This isn't always the case at other gyms. 2. Good selection of machines and free weights. 3. Everything is super clean. There was even an employee dusting the (clean) machines. 4. The locker rooms are really nice. The showers looked super clean. 5. It's not overly busy, so you can do 2-exercise supersets (e.g. push/pull) without upsetting anyone by using two pieces of equipment. 6. One of the employees (maybe the owner?) was consistently out on the workout floor and seemed really friendly and helpful with everyone. No major cons that I could see. Some of the free weights had numbering that was a bit worn, but an employee saw me notice that and said he was going to re-paint the numbers soon. The most comparable gym to FIT would be The Institute in Longview (about 3/4 of an hour away), so this is a great option for Tyler.

If you want to check it out, show up 30 minutes early and these folks will set you up. There is a system, one that works. I've lost over 40 lbs with Orange Theory and believe in it, and as a traveler, so happy it is here. I have been to over 20 Orangetheory stops and this is one of the best. Alex got us through a very challenging workout and it was one of my favorite workouts (after the fact). So happy and lucky that Orangetheory is in Tyler. I live in Austin and Boulder, and am so jazzed that I can get a workout with Alex in Tyler.

I also want to address the 5 minute comment below. If you've been to OT you understand the class is very structured and broken up into 2-3 groups at a time. It is not a freestyle workout and often includes partner workouts. They have a 5 minute warm-up period that makes it easy to enter the class, but after that period it is VERY disruptive to have people coming and going. They also often have a waitlist of people to get into a class if someone no-shows so the 5 minute period also allows for this. If you are the type of person that can't show up a few minutes early then maybe OTF isn't for you. I know I've had life get in the way a few times and been turned away at the door. It's certainly frustrating but after going for a few sessions you understand why that's the policy. I've lost 30 pounds on the program and continue to go multiple times a week even after meeting my goal weight.

They do not consider that many people feel the gyms as unsafe especially if they or their family members have autoimmune systems and can not take the risk of Covid 19. Poor business decisions which are unethical. ABC financial calls. Gym managers are there and then gone. No one returns messages. You talk to their finance company who is powerless and are then sent to collections. Management has no regard for their members safety.
