"OnPoint" also offers therapeutic relaxing massage, cupping therapy, and hot stone massage. 2 hr session of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy includes Ice and Stretch/ Active Isolated Stretching. (Cryotherapy) Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy is a technique that was developed by Drs. Janet Travell & David Simons in the 1950s and 1960s. Dr. Janet Travell was best known when she became personal physician to President Kennedy. Spray and Stretch was the technique that Travell followed her Trigger Point Therapy Sessions with using vapocooling spray Cryotherapy. The session then ended with a period of rest and rewarming. Exactly what is a Trigger Point? Drs. Janet Travell & David Simons (1993) described a trigger point as, "A highly irritable localized spot of exquisite tenderness in a nodule in a palpable taut band of (skeletal) muscle." These highly irritable localized spots can range in size, from a tiny pellet, to a pea or even a large lump. They can be felt, embedded within the muscle fibres, by therapists who have developed a keen sense of touch. When active trigger points are palpated, they produce pain and the usual ‘jump sign.’ The secret to release is applying just the right know how and patience.
