I have been a member since 2012 and consider my membership as a health necessity. The membership pricing is excellent, especially considering the service is fantastic. The staff in Ankeny is always warm and welcoming, the facility is always clean and comfortable. I have had several massage therapists over the years and they each do a wonderful job. I always leave feeling relaxed and mentally better. I highly recommend this location and company! read more

I was a client before Covid. My son passed away in 2019. I didn't go during Covid, I have PTSD, long story short, with a number of manage changes. I paid for months & didn't use their services. A manager told me not to worry, she'd pause my account and when I was ready to return, my points would be there. New manager, no points. They don't deserve anyone's business! read more

I went in for a Swedish massage, which was very relaxing and exactly what I needed. And a facial which my skin feels so amazing. The products they use are ones that I'm familiar with which made it more comfortable on my skin definitely would recommend. read more

This is the third appointment i have had booked with this location in the last 7 months. Every one of them have been cancelled by this location with less than 24 hours notice. i know a lot of places are having staffing issues but I will never book another appointment with Massage Heights again. Extremely frustrating that you have to book so far out and then it gets cancelled at the last minute. read more

They expect a 6 hr cancelation notice from you but it's fine if they cancel an hour before your appt. It was a 4 pm appt! They don't give you much notice, no big deal, we will just reschedule for you. No thanks. To many places to chose from to be treated as second rate customer. I'll add I talked to my daughter after hers. She said the massage was good but after something changed with the way the staff treated her. It was obvious that they weren't happy with me so they turned sour to their paying customer. So nonprofessional!! read more

The thing I really like about Massage Heights is you can usually get in a few hours after you call if you are looking for a day of massage! I played a few shows this past weekends and man I was pretty wrecked! My legs hurt, neck, back all in all I felt like crap! So I made an appointment and headed north! The massage therapist did a great job, and the massage seemed like it went so fast, so that means it was great and I was enjoying it! Now mind you Massage Heights will probably try to get you to sign up for a membership which might not be your thing but if you do want to you can go to any of the locations and get a bit of a deal on your massages! Clean place, and nice to get in fast! read more

After getting a comment on this review that this retreat had been taken over by new owners, I started getting emails about last minute appointments available at the Ankeny retreats, usually for the same day and the next day, tempting you into getting a massage. Well, the last email I got included the "State Fair Special," which was a free foot scrub elevation ($14 value). Okay, that was enough to get me in the door that evening. I found that this retreat had much changed, by way of the front desk staff, which was my major complaint in the original review. They were very kind and took good care of me, and the other customers that came in. My massage was I the last time slot of the evening- 8 p.m. So, when I got out, it was quitting time for everyone. I did *not* get any "here's you hat, what's your hurry?" attitude. No impatiently leaning on the desk, watching the clock. They checked me out and asked about my massage, (the therapist was overly chatty, but I didn't say anything. She was nice.) and offered to book another appointment. They were still as pleasant as when they checked me in. The Ankeny retreat has improved greatly under new ownership, gaining two more stars. I can't think of a bad thing to say. read more

First time at Massage Heights, great experience. Booked online and received great service from Nicole at the reception area. Then I enjoyed a wonderful massage from Jeff. I had a gift certificate for my service which was nice and will definitely be back for future services. read more

I've been a member at this massage heights for about 8 months. Most of the front desk staff are downright petulant. I have to call back 3 or 4 time to even book my appointment because I can't stand speaking to most of then, so I just keep at it until I get one of the few decent people on the phone. I firmly believe that my massage therapist, Christine is excellent. It all depends on who you get- so of you're doing a walk in or randomly selecting a therapist, you might have a bad experience. To be fair though this place is always clean, and they carry high quality products including dermologica and clarisonic. I wish the manager or owner would fire almost all of the front desk staff and get some appropriate coverage. That would go really far in making me up my stars. read more

I have been trying to cancel my membership since September 12th when I filled out the paperwork to do so as I was leaving the state. I was taking care of my Mom who is dying of a glioblastoma and when the deductions continued I called. I thought that would end things. I emailed corporate and they told me that I would have to cancel with my center. I called again and didn't get a call back. Unfortunately, when the Coronavirus hit I realized that the deductions had continued. I called immediately and left a message to immediately cancel my membership and to call me to confirm they had received my message. I have never received a call back and the deductions have continued. I have continued to call but the machine won't even accept a message and although it says it is transferring to someone it cuts you off instead. ALL I WANT IS TO CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP AND STOP THESE WITHDRAWALS! read more

I used to be a member at MH, and my services were always good--both facials and massages. My beef is with management or whomever trains the scheduling person and receptionists--especially in the area of problem solving. We booked a couples' massage about 3 weeks before our wedding. About two days before the appointment, I received a call asking if we could move our appointment from 1:00 to 12:30, which was fine with me. When we arrived for our 12:30 appointment, we were told that we had one massage scheduled for 12:30 and one for 1:00, as opposed to simultaneous massages as we originally scheduled. Additionally, the receptionist told us that the scheduler called her THAT MORNING to tell her that she had made a mistake with our appointments. I am willing to acknowledge that scheduling mistakes happen, but if they knew that morning, why weren't we contacted before we came in at 12:30? Furthermore, when we arrived, the receptionist said, "I'll check with the person who is scheduled for your 1:00 and see if she can do it at 12:30." Unfortunately, that person stepped out for lunch, so they could not make that adjustment. Again--when they realized that morning that there was a snafu, why didn't they talk to the 1:00 therapist right away to see if she could switch to 12:30? There was an absence of any kind of problem solving. To be fair, they called my husband a day later to see if he wanted to reschedule, and when he expressed his frustration, they offered for a manager to call us. However, this was one of those moments that we wanted to accompany our wedding weekend--especially to have these services on the heels of the stress that goes with planning and executing a wedding. Anything after that is anti-climactic. I would not recommend this place unless you want to carry the burden of checking multiple times between booking and your actual appointment to ensure that they have, in fact, kept your appointment as you originally scheduled. read more

I have been going to Massage Heights in Ankeny for about 8 months now. My first 5 months were with one lady who was nice and did a good job. She left the company so I started going to Chris and she is amazing. She is friendly, kind and does a great job each time. She listens and tries different things. She also gives me a hand and arm message which is so enjoyable and relaxing. The business is clean and neat. I would recommend this business! read more

Megan's review is very accurate. The hours are convenient, the trick is finding a good therapist who will work with you. The modalities available are pretty limited. If you're athletic and want a sports massage go somewhere else. If you want relaxtion, you're in the right place. Be aware that paying for 60 minutes doesn't necessarily mean you'll get 60 minutes. Last time there I got exactly 50 minutes and was told that was normal, it takes time to change sheets, prep the room, etc. I felt cheated. read more

I was also dissapointed in this place. I recieved a gift card for the massage, so I scheduled it and they didn't ask me how long I wanted it for and they did the 50 minute instead of the 30 minute, so I ended up having to pay for my gift. I understand that was partial my fault, but I had never done it before. My massage therepist was Janan. She kept talking about herself and even about a few of her other customers, which I think is inapropriate and unprofessional. My deep tissue massage was pretty good for my first time, but she kept laughing when I couldnt relax my muscles. Also, she would not stop trying to convince me to buy a membership. I kept trying to explain I was in college and couldn't afford it, but she was very persistent. On the bright side, she gave me some stretches to do to help my tight leg muscles, and she was also very polite about my privacy. read more

I had been going to Message Heights Ankeny for several years and always been happy. When I purchased my prepaid package in April and was told that it went month to month after that, I told them that I did not want that. They assured me if I told them in June, they would cancel it. In June after I used up my prepaid package, I told them that I did not want to do the monthly charge. They assured me that no money would be taken out of my account. They continued to take a monthly amount out for July, August and September. I called and they were suppose to reverse the charges. They did not. Now they have charged me for October. I will never go back there. read more

I have been a member for 18 months and it is worth it. It is easy to get in for an appointment. I have been to several therapists and every massage has been very good. I like the fact that I can "bank" my massages so if I am not able to get in one month for a massage then I can have 2 the next month or I can even have a 2 hour massage. My only issue is that the Ankeny site seems to be out of eucalypts aromatherapy A LOT. I have had to go to the Johnston location just to get the aromatherapy that I want. read more

I was bitterly disappointed in this place. First they are more interested in selling their membership than waiting on customers so be prepared to be the last thing they think about if they already have your money. The therapist was just ok and remember you aren't going to get a 60 min massage you get "50 mins of hands on time". My husband paid for a hot stone massage but apparently no one told the therapist and Heaven forbid she look at what her client paid for, so I had to remind her and then felt like she went through the motions but it wasn't anything worth the money. I can't believe anyone likes this place. It was not relaxing, it was money, money, money. I always tipped my massage therapist where I lived before but this was so not worth the money that I didn't even tip and just left. I won't be back and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I signed up recently for a year. After experiencing HORRIBLE customer service and reading the terrible reviews and complaints of this company I completely regret signing up. After I found out it is NOT an hour massage like they advertise, I told them I might cancel. Instead of being understanding of my disappointment , y They immediately threatened to send me to collections if I cancel. Evidently they love to do just that to the thousands of bitterly disappointed customers. They are heartless thieves who care NOTHING about customer satisfaction. When my contract is up I plan to close my credit card and change my phone number because I found out that they will FOREVER charge everyone's account. They even OVERCHARGED my account by 10 dollars and have refused a refund!!!! The only good thing that could happen is that people band together and close ALL Massage Heights down! Until then I am STUCK with a rip off membership. read more

I have had nothing but trouble with this place. You pay for the massages, but due to the way they write their contract, even if you have many saved up you cannot gift them even to a spouse. You also have to fill out a form to have them cancel your membership. It auto-renews and they won't refund your money after the 12 months if you didn't fill out a form to cancel. Additionally they have 30 days to remove the eft after you fill out the form, which means they will suck yet another month from you. If there are any unused massages (paid for but not yet performed) you have only 30 days after the last eft to use them or they will be lost, even though you paid for them. All this might have been in the very fine print of the contract but it all seems pretty shady to me. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. read more

The first time I went to massage heights in Ankeny was for a couples massage that I booked 2 months in advance. I was told as we checked in for our appointment that they were unable to accommodate us in the couple's massage room. My husband and I spend our anniversary massage in two different rooms. They were apologetic and sent us a commentary package through the mail because of our bad experience. It was a nice gesture, so I decided not to let it ruin my future business with them. My husband bought me a gift card from Massage Heights in Ankeny for my birthday. Last week I called and scheduled an appointment for a massage for the following day. I was asked to give them my card # to "secure" my appointment. I was not asked if I wanted a 60 minute or a 30 minute massage. I didn't question that until the next day I called to reschedule my appointment because of a work obligation that prevented me from going to my scheduled massage appointment. I was told from "Tressa" that I would be charged 50% of my 60 minute massage because I had to reschedule. I augured that I wasn't asked if I wanted a 30 min or a 60 min when I was scheduled. I said I shouldn't have to pay 50% of a 60 min massage when I only intending for a 30 min. She told me that I "confirmed" the appointment and they will charge me 39.95 no matter what. She basically called me a liar and insisted that she knows I asked for a 60 min massage. She then asked me if I would like to reschedule my appointment. I told her, certainly NOT! That I will no longer do business with a company that scams people out of their money. She then told me to have a good day and called me by the wrong name! A terrible Business and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

My visit to Massage Heights (on 4/24/2014), in which I was treating my best friend with a day of relaxation. This was such a disappointing experience for my friend and me. The rooms were lovely and the waiting room was classy, but that is all that I can say was positive. When I called to make the appointment, it was for a special occasion for my best friend (and I joined in), I asked for a 2-hour massage AND a 1-hour facial. The massage was only 1 3/4 hour, not 2. Even worse, they did not provide us with the scheduled facial. When I pointed that out at the end I was told, ma'am you didn't schedule that. Which is bull**** because I made the appointment while I was with my friend and I was given a verbal confirmation from the salon while on the phone. I am so seriously disappointed. I could have gotten a wonderful massage for 1/2 the price right down the road. The ONLY reason I chose this location was so that we could have a full spa day which was to include the facial. To top it off, no one offered us ANY solutions to the incredibly disappointing experience. I thought for sure they would have provided a discount (since I paid over $200 on our massages) or offered us a voucher to come back for the facial that they failed to provide to us. I would strongly encourage others to avoid this place as well. I will be posting this on every website that I can post a review. It was such a disaster that I couldn't even get anyone to listen to me, to try to remedy situation, but instead the staff were completely unapologetic, and even more unprofessional, and instead of assisting me in order to remedy this nightmare they decided it would be time better spent laughing and cracking jokes about their boyfriends/dates while I was standing there feeling like a fool because I had promised my friend the 2 hour massage and the 1 hour facial. I will never go back to Massage Heights and I will pass this information on to my friends and family so they know that this place is not worth it since they can't even fulfill their scheduled appointment. It was absolutely the worst $260 (including the tip). read more

I have been a member for 1 year. I am not new to massage/facials as I have been getting massages my entire life. I would say that my total experiences (12+) over the last year or so maybe 4 have been enjoyable. A 1 hour massage is maybe 45 minutes. There is a high turnover rate of therapist so once you find one that actually is good they seem to be gone the next month. The staff upfront are always welcoming but look as though they do not bathe frequently. No one has ever helped me find products or explained the ones I show interest in buying. Half the time my massage would be scheduled with one therapist and then i would come and I would be with someone else. Staff does not seem to be enthusiastic about their jobs and management has never followed up with me about concerns I have raised. I once had a therapist adjust my neck like a chiropractor. I then had to be go to physical therapy to fix the damage. Don't be fooled by the lower cost for a membership. Pay a little more and go somewhere that actually provides good service! read more
