All around great massage experience here! Nothing uncomfortable, great price and a professional staff! My fiance and I have came here a few times (their old location on Big Beaver and now their new one). The first time was our very first time going to a massage spa and we didn't know what to expect. It was a through a Groupon so we thought, "what could go wrong? They gotta be good if they're through Groupon". We were quite impressed at the service we received. We got the standard couples full body massage and continue to get it today due to how great our first experience was. Each time we've had a female masseuse who truly takes care of us and is responsive to our requests (whether we want focus in a specific area, avoidance of a specific area or if they're using too much force). This last time in particular was quite a spectacle because we were both riddled with knots in our shoulders. They used their entire body's force to kneed out the knots we had. It was overwhelming at first and we were frequently asked if it was too much, but we let them continued and as I'm writing this, the soreness has gone away and we both feel a lot better. We pretty much had a deep tissue massage for the price of a full body massage, so that was nice! If you're looking to experiment with getting massages to either de-stress or to have some actual issues resolved for yourself, come to Massage Green! Any location will do in the northern Metro Detroit area, but the Troy one is definitely our favorite. read more

I scheduled myself for an hour of massage and facial. I will divide my review into two parts. I just want to say employees were very nice and friendly and my frustration comes from the results of services I received. 1. Massage. I was scheduled for a relaxing massage and usually I like decent pressure. I voiced it answering how strong I wanted the pressure to be. After massaging my back, my masseuse started doing moves as from physical therapy (PT) ( I went to PT for 3 month because of injury to my back). She started really pushing on certain areas of my neck and back making it uncomfortable and painful as when you get bruised from the injury. She started stretching me, and I thought it was more improvising because I didn't feel or hear a solid explanation or support for those stretches (pelvis and hips) and I didn't feel comfortable with that because you have to have physical therapist degree to perform those stretches and treatment; remember, I came just for a relaxing massage. Then, the masseuse started "cracking" my neck, head, hips, arms, and back by stretching and by sharp movements as I was at a chiropractor office. I felt even more uncomfortable because it would be a totally different area of treatment and practice with totally different level of knowledge ( I went to chiropractor for years and know it can be a hit or a miss and how dangerous their practice can be for the patients). After all concerning and uncomfortable experience next morning I had a sharp back pain as I had a year ago with my back injury when I had to go to PT. It was almost a week now and I still have those pains every morning. It improves with stretches I learned at Physical Therapy though. Not coming back for sure. 2. Facial. Breath... ok, I attached pictures of my totally ruined skin. I included pictures of areas of my eyes and chin before and after facial. Backstory: I have my skin care routine and I order different facial serums, moisturizers, and eye creams on Amazon and I never have issues with the products. It means I don't have severely sensitive skin. I explained my esthetician I use facial serum, eye cream, and Retinol or collagen moisturizers every day, and areas around my eyes might be more sensitive ( no sh..t, right, it is more sensitive by definition). Facial took also an hour: some massage, spraying with something, mask, creams, massaging again, "steaming" face to clean up some areas. It didn't feel painful or uncomfortable at the time. That evening I was not able to clean my face or apply my routine facial care products because of severe burning around my eyes, my chest, neck, and some random areas on my face. After this happening for several days, my skin on my neck, chin, eyes, and face started peeling off, burning like it was chemically burned/destroyed. It has been a week already and my skin is still in a horrible condition: burning, itching, and inflamed at baseline or when I just try to wash it with water. For a week I am not able to apply any regular facial cleansers, use my cleanser facial brush, not able to apply ANY of my regular facial products because it is extremely painful and all my skin becomes more inflamed and dry. Vaseline? Oil? Yep, the only things are tolerable. I think, I will file a complaint to their corporate but I am pretty sure it is not going to do anything. Esthetician mentioned I had mostly normal skin with some oily skin areas. Well, thank you, I definitely don't have this problem anymore because all my skin extremely dry, peeling off, and chemically damaged. read more

First, I will say, I have gotten many massages by many different massage therapists, even at this location. They have been great. This one was not. Shakiara was the worst massage I have ever received. As someone who has gotten a lot of massages and had a partner who went to school and got licensed for massage therapy, I feel like a pretty good reference for this. First, Shakiara did not understand the services that the spa offered and insisted they didn't do "Hot Packs", which is just wrapping hot towels around your feet. This is simply annoying and would not push me to write a review, but then it just progressively gets worse, so I will break it down into a couple categories. OIL: In the beginning the pool was dripped on my back, as if we were in a scene from a Showtime movie. In addition to that, it felt more like lube than oil. To add to the instances of being taken out of the moment, she didn't have a holster, so she kept having to walk over to the counter and then back to the table every time she needed to get oil. Get it together. DRAPING: This lady went right in on my bare butt cheeks. I have had a number of massage therapists help with hip pain and target muscles that are in my buttocks, but it's ALWAYS over the sheet. This lady tucked the sheet in my butt crack and just 'massaged' my bare cheeks. That was a first, and surprisingly not enjoyable. TECHNIQUE: This is the real kicker. I find it hard to believe she went to school and got her licensing and I would argue she couldn't name a muscle group if you asked her. She primarily used her knuckles. She massaged nerves and bones more than muscle and the entire time, it felt like she was taking out some aggression on me. I am usually all about the deep tissue, and often say that more pain now equals more relief later. In this case, it was borderline masochistic that I laid there. I asked her to lighten up and she said okay, and then didn't. On sensitive areas she just went harder. She moved my muscles around the vertebrae on the back of my neck to the point that it still hurts and feels bruised over 24 hours later. She massaged my chest and said it felt tense. I wanted to tell her "that's because those are my ribs", but being naked under a sheet feels little vulnerable, so I literally just sat and took it. I will make sure to never book this lady again, but I would also caution others to be aware and ask that Massage Green verify the education and licensing of this individual. My husband used groupon to book us a couples massage. It was super easy to use the groupon certificate to then book the massage, and we were able to get a weekend appointment (Sunday evening). When you first walk in, the decor does not give off a luxurious feel. If you are looking for a spa-like feeling, this is not the place for you. For me, I care more about the quality of the massage. Christa was my therapist, and man was she AMAZING! I have terrible back and neck issues, and she was firm with my body but did it in a way that felt so good. I walked out of there feeling so much better, and that feeling lasted for DAYS! The nice thing about this place is the price. While I am not sure if I would become a "member" (which gives you discounts and essentially pays for a massage every month), I will certainly go back given that the massage was under $60. Also- it was absolutely packed in there, which I always find to be a sign of a well-established, quality facility. The other nice thing is the location. It is kinda hidden, but is in the new shopping center where shake shack is. There is an adorable coffee shop and juice shop right next door, so after our massage my husband and I sat down and shared an acai bowl. I booked an appointment online a week in advance. Something came up and i was unable to make my appointment. I called numerous times, left a voicemail, and still nobody had contacted me. Well two days later, i try calling again leaving another voicemail only to have my call returned saying there was nothing they could do. They don't do same day cancellations! I wanted to reschedule NOT cancel. This was a gift for my birthday and they still took the money without offering any results other then "there is nothing we can do". Very disappointed. Massage was awful. Felt like he was just rubbing my bone which hurt. I told him the type of massage I wanted and he didn't listen. Didn't wrap the blanket around my legs either, almost like he was trying to get a look underneath. Very unsettling. The sauna is right next to the wall for the gym so no music or entertainments advertised and you just stare up at the very bright fluorescent light inside. I left early. Not relaxing or worth it. I'd like my money back for sure. I have yet to be contacted by management or anyone from the establishment to offer any type of apology. I usually don't leave bad reviews, but I wanted to share my experience to hopefully prevent someone else from encountering the same thing. If I could leave a zero I would. I've been a long time customer for several years and I've always left feeling relaxed and peaceful. My last appointment was beyond terrible, I was violated by the therapist during my session. I left feeling humiliated, angry and ashamed. What's just as bad is that it's been over 3 months and the company still hasn't reached out to me. This makes me feel as if this is something that they're used to covering up. The worst massage place I have ever been to. I had an appointment at 6:00 pm. The instructions on their website and over the phone call for the client to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment. I did show up at 5:45 pm. The receptionist told me that the massage therapist was finishing up her client and would come shortly. I waited until 6:10 then I asked the recetionist about where therapist was about. The therapist was not in the Spa at all. When finally she answered her phone, she claimed that she had a migrain and couldn't wake up. However, she was planning to show up for her 7:00 pm appointment. What a disrespectful act of her and the spa managemant. They do NOT check if their employees are in, or they can alwayus find an excuse and waste the client's time. "Tania" was the therapist's name as far as I remeber. I have wasted one hour for travel time and 30 minutes in the spa. I had no service, and they dared to ask me if I WANTED my giftcard Back. I am definitly throwing the gift card in the garbage and won't let any of their uncompetent therapist touch me. Unprofessional business. I do not expect them to be around for long. read more

Once again I went to book an appt this week and both Charles and both Anthony were booked. Carlo had one evening opening. I just got home. My husband asked my why I looked like I had just woken from a 12 hour sleep! Carlo gave me the best massage of my life!!! He is friendly, says he's loves what he does. He listened to what I like. I'm more of a do my back but don't focus mainly on that. I walked out feeling the most relaxed I ever have in my life. He touched on even the ears and scalp. The foot massage was incredible. DO NOT BOOK A FACIAL. I had a facial and made sure document my rosacea and sensitivity. The therapist said that I didn't have sensitive skin...um... that's what rosasea is.... The day after, I broke out in an itchy rash. I called in the AM and spoke with the manager, she said she needed to talk to the therapist and call me back. Well, guess what? No call back. I called and she had left for the day. Also, I had the groupon that included the infared sauna session and no one mentioned this. Wow. I just had the absolute WORST MASSAGE of my life. His name was Ryan and I urge you to steer clear. I don't even know where to start. Let's start by saying I've had regular massages my entire adult life. I'm a member at massage green (for now, we shall see if I'm able to get ahold of a manager about this experience as they also have issue answering their phones). His name was Ryan, but he didn't tell me because he didn't introduce himself. I had to ask after the hour of hell when I walked out. Does Massage Green not interview new people and test them for their technique? Or are we now just allowing anyone with hands to come in a rub on people? Shame on you Massage Green as I can see other reviews on this concern and you obviously have done nothing. At first I thought it was just a lack of experience I was dealing with. It then became abundantly clear that it was both a lack of experience and a giant lack of care. Zero technique. Zero knowledge of muscles, tendons and bone locations. Pressure went from "putting on my own lotion" to almost breaking my arm. He used 4 general "moves" if you will, and did them over and over and over and over and over and over again. If he found a knot (which there are a ton to find), he has a complete lack of knowledge on how to work on it. He rubbed on my forearm so deeply, at least 13x to the point that my arm actually hurts (not in a productive massage pain kind of way). I write this review because I have genuine concern that he is going to hurt someone. He needs to take some time (a lot more time) learning about the human body and techniques used to massage it. My lower back had been nagging me for about a week so I decided to make an appointment for a massage. I work right up the road and they were offering a $29.95 special for new clients so I gave them a shot. Also I liked the fact I could book my appointment and pay online. My appointment was at 5:00 with Katie and I arrived about 10 minutes early and already had the new patient paperwork filled out. She didn't come out until 5:05 to get me and then by the time I had undressed down to my knickers and she started it was 5:10. Now as far as the massage goes, it was one of the best I have had. She applied the perfect amount of pressure and had me in a state of relaxation the entire time. So why the two star rating? When she told me she was finished and to meet her up front when I was dressed, I looked at the clock at and it was only 5:50. With her starting 10 minutes late and ending 10 minutes early, the hour massage I paid for only ended up being 40 minutes. It sucks for them because during the massage I was highly considering getting a membership to get the discounted massages each month, but after being shorted like that that, that idea quickly went out the door. I am all about first impressions and even though she was awesome, the fact that I was jipped out of 20 minutes is a little unexcusable. Had it been five minutes then I would have let it slide, but I cannot justify going back after this. Luckily for me I didn't pay full price or else I'd be even more miffed. So yesterday I took my pregnant girlfriend to get a massage mind you that I already paid for it So when we get there I drop my girl off then omw back to the house so when I get home I get a call from my girlfriend she says the front desk white lady was very rude and mind you that we are black too so my girlfriend fills out this form and it ask was she pregnant she checked yes of course and put she's 3months so this lady that was finna do the massage says ooo I can't give you a regular massage but I prolly can give you a prenatal massage so she went back to the front to talk to the white lady I guess the white lady told her no so she came back to tell my girlfriend that she couldn't do no massages so my girlfriend was basically saying so are you going to reschedule the appointment or give me our money back so the lady wasn't giving great customer service at all and basically was saying we lost our money so once my girl refused to leave she calls the police the police come 3 deep mind you the cops was very understanding and trying to help us they told the police my pregnant girlfriend was loud and rude and made her feel uncomfortable and did not want to massage her or want her back on the property!!! I purchased a membership Stretch Smart Infrared Therapy (located inside Massage Green in Troy) and due to the pandemic, services were prohibited. Since restrictions have been lifted, they do not have a Sports Therapists to administer the stretches. I have called repeatedly to get a refund or transfer of the 13 stretches I have left several messages to no avail. They will not return my calls, I called another location and although they are listed on the Stretch Smart website, they "Have no idea what Stretch Smart is." It's very frustrating because this service was great for my sciatica and I would prefer to continue. I understand that COVID closed down many small businesses, but to not communicate with the customer is unacceptable. I do not advise anyone to patronize Massage Green in Troy and I certainly will not ever again. read more

I've been a member at several area massage studios and this Massage Green location is the best by far. I use their website to make my appointments. It is very quick and easy to use. I can see when my favorite masseuse is available and adjust the length of my appointments. When I need a last minute appointment and my masseuse isn't available, I have always found a fantastic substitute. Massage Green only hires the best and most qualified professionals. The background music is better and more calming than any other spa I've ever visited. I suggest everyone to try this place at least once. I was assigned Tanya who was wonderful! She asked about my areas of concern and gave me a satisfying facial and massage. It was a great experience. Massage green does not let people cancel appointments on the same day, no matter what the circumstances are! Yet they called me a few hours before my appointment to tell me that the therapist cannot do "Reflexology" and that no other therapists is available so I will need to reschedule. When I asked for a reimbursement for my appointment, they refused it! This is hypocrisy and only money making business without keeping the customer in mind! read more

My boyfriend scheduled an appointment for me as a Christmas present. I had a 60 minute massage with Maki, who did a fantastic job. She was attentive, focusing on the points we discussed on my initial intake form and she make sure that I was comfortable and ensured her pressure was comfortable for me. My reason for 3 stars has to do with the cleanliness of the facility itself. My only disappointing factor was after my massage when I realized that the walls and carpets were visibly dirty. Great, no problem, I am always looking for a new massage place. I even looked online for review of other locations since this is a chain and also they had a ok looking web site. I always think it is a good idea to do your research. I get a massage every 1 to 2 months. As my first sentence says "you get what you pay for". The price was 29.95 for an hour and the paperwork was short to fill out. I wanted an nice relaxing massage and the therapist seemed nice and professional when she introduced herself. The massage started nice and relaxing...but...then it happened...dun dun dun...she put the bottle of lotion on my legs as she was rubbing my back. I didn't say anything because at first I thought it was just part of the blanket that she moved and flipped over. Once we reached about the 30 minute mark this happened 2 more times on me during it. Once more on my covered legs as she got more lotion for my back, then placed it on my covered back when rubbing my legs. I still tipped at the end (for a full price massage) but I will not be back. Unfortunately I had the worst professional massage of my life here. First off it was supposed to be a couples massage but my guy was 35 minutes late so they ended up being two single massages. Then when he arrived he told me that if he was any later he would've refunded me but I would've had to reschedule. Then he burped pretty loud at the very beginning. There was also no music playing for the first 10 minutes so I could only hear the sounds of squishy lube. Every time I itched myself he made a comment and kind of made fun of me for it. He sat on my feet to do stretches. That's weird. He did a few stretches with me when I was there for a massage, it should be noted that I am a flexible person and the stretches were uncomfortable. He karate chopped my back which is fine but that's not typical of a relaxation massage. He also massaged my butt without permission which was kind of odd because every other Massage I've been to they have made it very clear that they will not touch your butt. He also called me the wrong name twice. I had put on my intake sheet to focus on my neck, but he never touched my neck once. Overall I left more tense than when I showed up for my relaxation massage. I kept asking question because it was my first time going there, she got tired of me and did not answer me nicely, I haven't seen a rud employee like her before! This was friday noon. I wish there was an option for 0 stars. So I called on a Sunday afternoon to book a massage for Monday evening. Monday, I am on my way to the appointment and ended up getting side swept on i75. Luckily, no one was hurt, but we had to wait for police of course so I called the place to see if I could reschedule. They told me they would still be charging my card $70 for the massage. I pleaded with them and told them I was planning on joining their monthly membership program since I just moved to the area. The manager told me flat out no that they will not change their policy for me...I even offered to send them a copy of my police report for proof. Charged me the full massage...unbelievable and despicable customer service. I understand I took a time slot for that masseuse, but an exception would have been nice considering my circumstance.
