I have an excellent experience every time I go. I have never been unhappy! I've been going since 2021.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I rarely write reviews, but my experience with Massage Envy has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. After canceling my membership, I continued to see unauthorized charges on my bank account--charges that I did not approve and were clearly against their own policy. To make matters worse, multiple appointments were canceled last minute without proper communication, leaving me without services I had already paid for. I tried contacting management several times to resolve the issues, but received little to no response. The lack of accountability and customer service is unacceptable. Massage Envy's failure to respect cancellation requests and respond to concerns borders on unethical. I expected professionalism, but instead encountered mismanagement and a total lack of transparency. I strongly urge others to read the fine print and be cautious with this company. read more

I've been to Massage Envy in Slingerlands a few times now. Finding a good masseuse is like finding a good therapist - They both involve a bit of a trial and error process. I've had a few good massages in Slingerlands and a few not so great massages in Slingerlands. On my most recent trip, my masseuse was Raphaël and oh my God... He was amazing. I'm trying to come up with some kind of play on words involving the artist Raphael and the masseuse Raphael and both of them being absolutely incredible with their hands, but my mind is coming up short. Basically, Raphael took directions very well in regards to focusing on my back and my feet. I didn't shave my legs before my massage so I definitely felt a little cactus-y but it didn't matter to me. And honestly.... I'm sure Raphael has seen / felt worse. The facility is beautifully maintained. The lobby is clean and welcoming and waiting for my session to start in the quiet room is a wonderful way to get in a relaxation headspace. I have absolutely no issues with massage envy whatsoever and will definitely be back read more

I've had good experiences here & the prices are very good. Except for times when they were short on massage therapists, I've been able to schedule at convenient times. The current staff is very professional and attentive to hygienic practices, masking and screening clients. Shaina gives a very good massage- I've seen her several times....also Caroline for facials. I do think there should be more flexible policies on freezing one's monthly auto-charge during pandemics. I have a lot of services accumulated that I didn't feel safe using until I was vaccinated. These are good for a long time, (forever?) but if I want to cancel my membership, they must all be used within 30 or 60 days. That's tough! read more

After posting this review, I was contacted within the hour with a new contract, this one with correct dates, and a promise that I will not be charged any future payments. I'm filing complaints with their corporate office and with the Better Business Bureau, regarding treatment received from manager Rebecca at the Slingerlands NY location. Considering class action based on experiences and conversations with Rebecca. Consumers beware. My first impression was that it was a very nice spa, very clean and very Covid cautious . Staff was friendly. My massage was relaxing. I arrive 30 minutes early, my appointment started 10 minutes late. I was advised that my 60 minute massage was really only a 50 minute massage because they consult you five minutes before and five minutes after. I am not sure why that's necessary because you complete a questionnaire in the beginning with where you would like them to focus for your massage. My questionnaire indicated that I would like my feet massaged, Each foot got 23 seconds.The consult was really about 20 seconds. And my 50 minutes was less than that. I'm only coming back because I have a gift certificate but I'll be sticking sticking to my normal spot where they never go wrong. read more

I got a massage here about a year ago. I got a gift card for Christmas that I used. The massage itself was good and the facility was clean, but the massage therapist was not professional. She stunk of cigarettes and snapped her gum the whole time while getting spit all over me. She talked about her family and how she was moving and her son who is a rapper. All I wanted was a quiet relaxing massage, not to be a therapist and hear her life story. When I was done with the massage I got asked at least 5 times to sign up for their packages. I kept saying that I wasn't interested and the more I said no the worse the attitudes got of the employees. Is still have enough on my gift card for a full massage but don't want to go back because I know I'll be attacked again to buy a package. Great place for a good cheap massage, but you better bring your patience with you when you go. In addition, I have attempted to schedule an appointment to use the rest of my gift card and it has been near impossible to get an appointment. read more

I had an account in another location with hours to transfer to the Slingerlands location. I booked a massage and was told I'd need to restart my subscription plan at the new location and have the other location then transfer my hours. I was told the person at the desk would know what to do. When I arrived to check-in, I came early to handle all the details. Almost immediately, Rebecca, the General Manager told me I could not transfer my old account and had to sign up at the previous (out of state) location. I explained this was not what I had been told. Even my previous location told me I could "revitalize" my prepaid hours at a new location. So, I was on the phone with the previous manager and she was telling me how to work it all out (had her on speaker phone). At which point -- out of the blue, Rebecca says, " we are not going to provide you service. You need to go." I was shocked and asked her why. She said, " I don't like the energy you are bringing." I was shocked - I said I'm not even speaking to you. Well - they are doing you a favor and I don't like how you are speaking with them. What the heck?? I was working out all the details with the other Manager and checking on another account our family had as well. So this entire conflict was started by Rebecca who lied about what I was told and then when it was clear there WAS a way to sort out these booked hours - abruptly decided not to provide me with service. She kept saying the former Manager said what she had told Me but it wasn't true. She made a conflict and argument where there was no need for one. I have a call into Corporate Customer Service to complain. I also see others have complained about Rebecca previously. What the heck. Beware... Wasted my time -- Too bad - the ME I used to go to was really nice with nice staff. This Rebecca needs to go. read more

Came down with Covid symptoms evening before my appointment. Since I was unable to reschedule or cancel online I called as soon as the shop opened in the AM to reschedule, not even cancel. I let them know I was sick with Covid symptoms, they said I can either come in or be charged $50 regardless of rebooking. I understand they book up quick, but to say you'd rather put your staff and customers at risk then allow someone who is trying not to get others sick to reschedule is completely absurd to me. Will never come back to another massage envy. in these precedented times you would think businesses would be flexible given that if I came in and got their employee sick they'd be missing a whole lot more then 1 appointment. So I don't recommend going to a business that doesn't care about the health of their employees or customers. read more

So normally I'd say I love this place the people are very nice and the therapists know what they're doing BUT today my reviews completely changed where I've contacted the BBB files a complaint, the attorney General & the health department. So scheduled an appt and mind you live over an hour away so gas mileage is not cheap. The 1st time my roommate had to call/text because out of nowhere we developed covid symptoms and didn't have 24 hours notice to cancel and if we hadve drove down there to try to receive services precious Julia the manager of the franchise stated when they took the temperature and were informed of being contagious they would've sent me away but not charge me even though I just wasted all that time so I was discriminated by a policy that was signed even though covid is a REAL thing I couldn't even make the drive I was so sick,not to mention when you speak to the managers and most of the guest staffing (unless they're running your card info & taking your money) they're rude as hell. 2nd time similar situation except I did not confirm the appointment and they felt they had the right to make the confirmation for me charging me yet AGAIN after building up and paying for all the services im absolutely DISGUSTED with the way they handle business and customer relations. It was already bad enough that my partner had been hit on and sexually harassed at the niskayuna location the 1st time we signed up back in 2018 and them charging a credit card that was in my mother's name without permission it was a horrible experience regardless of what they do. The ONLY reason ill ever go back is because my doctor said I need this for my health issues and I HATE they're the only game or place in town that does this stuff but Julia and Laura are absolutely the worst managers I've ever met and these people don't really care about people but more the money and services you pay for then anything. If I could get an appointment I may be able to rate their services. I called for one day and they were booked, so went online to make an appointment for another day, I made a request. I received an email that someone would contact me. I called the next day when I did not hear. And found out they were booked. I was rudely advised that what I made was not an appointment but a request for an appointment. They are about 5 minutes from house and some place I would have loved to frequent but if they cannot manage to properly book an appointment or communIcate when they can't, I will find somewhere else read more

I wanted to make you aware of my first experience with Massage Envy and why I will never purchase a package through your organization. Yesterday, I went to Syracuse with my daughter, Janel Kaufman. She recently had a membership through the Slingerlands branch. Due to her finishing law school and moving, she had several sessions built up that she had paid for but not used. Unfortunately, she recently cancelled her membership because she was unemployed for a few months while she studied for the Universal Bar Exam. She gave me one of the sessions as a Mother's Day gift and we went together yesterday to the Syracuse location for our "spa day" get-away. Since there is nothing close to us, we had to travel 90 minutes to get to your closest spa. She was having a facial and massage and I was having a massage (all which had already been paid for). Since it is quite a distance, I had to take vacation time from work for our mini-spa day in order to fit it in by the 15th deadline. In the middle of her facial, while I waiting for our massages, I was notified by the Syracuse representative that the Slingerlands, NY branch ended her package as of May 14 at midnight so they were unable to transfer the sessions. When the Syracuse representatives viewed her account they confirmed it expired the 15th (not the 14th) so she contacted the Slingerlands branch. After speaking to a manager there, she was notified that they ended it on the 14th; even though it had an expiration date of the 15th on the account. The Syracuse representative stated, "if a store advertises a sale through the 15th, the customer has through the 15th to purchase so if it expires on the 15th, she should be able to use them on the 15th". The Slingerlands branch disagreed and said they had to be used by the 14th at midnight if they expired on the 15th. They finally said they were willing to extend it for the day but only at their location. Since it was currently 6 pm at this time, and the Slingerlands location was about 3 hours away, it would have been impossible to get there, even if they had an opening. Not to mention the people were already waiting to perform the services at the Syracuse location. The Slingerlands branch was unwilling to give my daughter until the 15th, which is when the sessions expired. The Syracuse representative told me it would be $180 charge for her facial and massage and that they could give me an introductory rate for my massage. I advised her she would need to speak to my daughter because we were not planning on paying for services that day and she would probably want to cancel. I was then advised that there was a $50 cancellation fee since it was already passed my appointment time (since they had spent quite a bit of time on the phone back and forth with the other branch) and that it would be an $80 charge for her facial. When my daughter finished her facial, she came back to the lobby to discuss the issue with the representatives. She informed them that she had confirmed with the Slingerlands branch prior to coming that the services were good through the 15th and that is why she booked the three appointments for the 15th at the closest facility she could find. My daughter also called and spoke to the Slingerlands office; however, they would not honor the transfer. They stated that she had not called since the beginning of April because there were no notes on the account. She informed them that was impossible since she had recently just had a massage transferred to the Syracuse office last week, which would have been impossible to do without contacting them. Apparently the person she spoke to in the Slingerlands branch did not put notes on the account. The Syracuse office then charged my daughters card for the facial. They were upset because they had two employees there to do our massages that would need to be paid, but didn't agree with the situation and didn't feel fair for us to be charged the cancellation fee. They finally found a "work around" to get one session transferred so they then sent me in for my massage but it was over a half hour later (so this held up not only us, but their employee). They were only able to transfer half of a session for my daughter but she was unable to use anything because it was so late and her therapist already had another appointment coming up. I did receive my massage and he was very nice; however, I was so upset at that point that I really was not able to relax and enjoy it. Although the Syracuse representatives were very professional and helpful, it was quite distressing and embarrassing. This entire thing had to be discussed in the lobby with customer's coming in and out. Although the Syracuse representatives were very nice, the entire process made me feel like I was trying to get something for free rather than getting a service that my daughter had paid for. This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. read more

I joined a couple of months ago and so far my experience has been positive. I have had a couple of massages and a facial all of which have been very good. The services are good but the management needs improvement. The staff are always asking you if you need to purchase the latest special and they ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment. I can do without the sales pitch and the early arrival is requested just in case you have to make changes to your record. We arrived about 20 minutes before the start of the appointment and the esthetician was running 15 minutes late. All in all we waiting 45 minutes. Not good. read more

Not sure I'd call this a scam, but it's close. Look at all the reviews, there is a good reason it has 2 stars or less. They push their people to not be open / truthful about the commitment they are asking you to make. In my case the person assured me that I could cancel anytime. Which, while technically true, it requires a doctors note. I tried it, it didn't work for my schedule so I went to cancel. He processed my cancelation, but then apparently "lost" the paperwork. When I went again to cancel they told me that he was no longer with the company and that I could not cancel. I've been disputing the credit card charges ever since. read more

Went to this Massage Envy at this location for the first time today. Firstly, was able to get in an hour after I called, and secondly, had a great massage from Matthew. I have some chronic tightness sin my neck and shoulders and he used some techniques I'd never experienced before which were really effective. I'll definitely be back. read more

I have never been so infuriated over a companies complete lack of professionalism. I had planned my day around the massage that I was going to be getting at Massage Envy of Slingerlands at 2:45 today. The woman I spoke to on the phone when initially scheduling was very pleasant and helpful. Today, when I showed up for my massage 15 minutes early as recommended everything went down hill. When I walked into the lobby I was taking in the atmosphere and was starting to become relaxed for my appointment, that is until I spoke to the woman at the front desk. I had to say my name about 4 times when she was looking for my appointment and then when she located my information she seemed to be irritated. Apparently my scheduled massage therapist had gone home sick for the day and not one person attempted to reach out to me. So after scheduling my whole day around this appointment I was left with nothing. I was not offered any type of accommodation after this company decided to not inform me of the cancellation on their end. If I were to cancel I would have had to pay for the massage if it were less than 24 hours. However, Massage Envy can cancel my appointment the day of, make absolutely no type of attempt to contact me, then not make any type of accommodation for the large inconvenience they caused. I will not be returning the Massage Envy in Slingerlands nor where I be returning to any Massage Envy since today's incident really struck a cord for me on professionalism of a company! read more

I have been getting massages here since they opened several years ago. All therapists have been good......some excellent. I have never commented before but today's experience changed my mind regarding the Massage Envy - Slingerlands management so I had to complain. My complaint is today is ....when I asked to cancel my appointment due to extreme weather I was told I would be charged if the appointment could not be rebooked. Granted it was less than the 24 hours notice they required, but the road conditions had turned extremely slippery. Snow is not a problem for me but this was dangerous. So despite the fact that I have a very good therapist, I think I will cancel my membership. read more

Very dissatisfied customer I have been with Massage Envy for several years and I traveled throughout the U.S. using many of the Massage Envies. The manger at this Massage Envy is very unprofessional I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have been FIGHTING with them for months on 1) transferring my membership to another facility; and 2) just getting them to CANCEL my membership. An absolute waste of time and money. As an update to my prior review, I wanted to say that the business ultimately did not charge my credit card $40 for the "free" massage, as they said they would, and I did receive an apology from the corporate office for the "misunderstanding." I still would not recommend the spa compared to others in the area, but I do feel much better about using the massages throughout the end of my one year contract. I also have received no more sales calls, just an email reminding me that I am welcome to set up the services that are accumulating with my membership. read more

To say that I am dissatisfied is an understatement. My experience started with a decent amount of paperwork to fill out. I know that this is typical, but it became excessive. I was then taken to a small waiting area that was intended to be relaxing, but was cramped and had 3 other people waiting and I felt very uncomfortable. I was then taken to my room where I was to get a facial and a massage. My facial was first. I had never had one before, but was excited about having one as many of my friend and family have had one and have had great results. I had some mild redness that I was hoping to get rid of, but overall I take good care of myself. My esthetician seemed knowledgeable and explained every step of the process. However, at the same time, she continued to remind me of how bad my face was and how I need to take care of my skin better. By the 3rd or 4th time, I got the point!! After my facial I was to have an hour massage. I was left in the same room and told that someone would be in soon. It felt like hours, but I was left alone in the room for what was actually about 20 min. While I was waiting, the entire time freezing cold. I have not been to a spa without a heated table or at least a comfortable room. The massage therapist finally came in but made it very clear that she was less than excited to be there and that I was getting the additional foot scrub. I found it very difficult to relax. After my massage and facial, I was brought back to the front where the assistant manager attempted to sell me a half dozen products as well as a membership to the spa. I was still freezing cold and just wanted to go home, but I still had to pay. I was brought to the front counter, where there was another woman who was attempting to cancel her membership with little success. When I finally got to pay, they had difficulty processing my payment. I finally arrived home more tense then when I had left. This is not a spa that I would return to especially if you are looking for a relaxing experience. read more

I started going here about two months ago and the staff and therapists are fantastic! Everyone is genuinely very sweet and very knowledgable. They're a membership spa but they don't pressure you into the membership like some places do but I joined because it just made sense if I go at any type of frequency. I look forward to future visits with them read more
