Massage Envy coastal north sold my husband a $100 gift card. Donna, the "manager" said it expired when they initially said they dont expire and their site says they dont expire. She said they cant do anything because the transaction isnt in the system yet they can see who bought it, for how much, where it was purchased and when it supposedly expired. can see all this yet they cant see the transaction....ok lol. She also kept saying the gift cards expire in S.C. That is a lie. I've read some of the reviews, frankly I am surprised! My boss bought me a gift card, from the office manager informing me to working around my very busy schedule to the visit with both the massage therapist and the facial technician, nothing but great things to say! I came in met from the desk associate, very nice and professional. The massage therapist did exactly, and when I say, so attentive to my aches and pains, she did exactly what I wanted and needed. To the facial technician, she explained every step and it was just as relaxing as the massage. The cost, yes, even though given as a gift, I did ask about costs. The cost is the same as anywhere else! The facial, actually is much cheaper than you would pay at higher cost if gone to dermatologist or anywhere else. The massage, for 90 minutes, well work it and time counted from the start to the end. She did not stop nor left me in the room! So -- I haven't gotten to a massage yet. That is the problem. My brother wanted to give me his appointment while I was in town, but I am now over 36 minutes into my SECOND PHONE CALL (they are very busy, they say) - and have been just LEFT ON HOLD - for over 30 minutes - and still counting, by the way (I want to give them every opportunity). I asked for contact information for the manager -- I'm sure he/she or franchise owner would like to know that the brusque and terse voicemail and subsequent call with "Debbie" made me think this was the LAST place I would be relaxed, in any way. And that my efforts to make sure both my brother and I would not be charged -- as well as to let them know providing my credit card information over the phone was not really acceptable for me. I used the ME app to book an appointment with a masseuse who could give me a Firm massage. Chose Annette because she claimed to be qualified for All Pressures. When I arrived with my licensed support dog, Annette and a snooty receptionist spent at least 5 min of my time debating whether I could take my dog into the room with me. After educating them didn't work, I threatened to sue them and they acquiesced. Once in room, It took several more minutes to explain to Annette what I wanted. After she left so I could get undressed, I laid on the table for a very long time waiting for her to return. She didn't start my massage until 20 min past the hour! Then when she started my massage, she used very light pressure. I reminded her I needed firm pressure and she just said she would do her best and never increased the pressure. Then she ended my massage 10 minutes early. So instead of a 50 min massage, I received a 30 min one and it was the worst massage I have ever had! Haven't tried any of the other masseuses there and can't critique them, but whatever you do, don't book with Annette unless you want a very light massage, and remind her you expect a full 50 min one! read more

I was pleased with this spa. I visited this ME branch soon after it opened, and my experience was fully positive. The booking was easy and convenient, by way of a friendly receptionist. Likewise, the facility was clean and comfortable, with complimentary water and a relaxing waiting-room. As for the massage itself: beautiful. My therapist was professional and skilled, as well as communicative, and compliant with some specific requests I had. Finally, checking out was as effortless as everything else, and I was on my way and feeling great. So, a word of sincere thanks to everyone at this Massage Envy. Spoke to at least 3 employees... 2 of which were management, no one was willing to help. Sent the following message to corporate customer service 3 weeks ago, still no one had contacted me. My concern is that there has been no provision made for people who purchased a membership, accrued massages and were not able to use them due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I purchased my package in August. I was told that I could use my massages whenever I wanted but not more than one a month until I had accrued a few. I had every intention when I made the purchase to save my massages until 2020 because I would be starting physical therapy. I even called to make sure of the expiration date so that I could plan accordingly. I visited the location near me in November 2019 in order to figure out what therapist would best fit my needs. I was disappointed with the first visit so I did my research and returned in February 2020. My package expired in May so my plan was to line up my Physical therapy visits with scheduled massages in March, April & May. Of course non of that happened due to COVID-19. I called my home locations to make sure my accrued messages had been maintained and was told I no longer have them because they expired. That was unacceptable. I asked to speak to a manager, was told someone would get back to me, 4 days later no one had. I called again and when I spoke to some one they were only willing to give me back 2 of the 4 massages that I had paid for. I was initially very excited about joining ME and looking forward to renewing my membership to enhance my physical therapy. This ordeal has completely turned me off of the entire company. I'm hoping someone on the corporate level would be more understanding and willing to make an exception seeing as though the circumstances were beyond all of our control. Thank you for your time. They get you with the "introductory price" and since I had been for a massage in the past we got nailed. My massage was excellent but the facial was to total waste of money and time. Tried this location for the first time. I was considering a membership. But that won't be happening now. The massage started out ok and then the masseuse started to go lighter and lighter with the massage. (I requested deep tissue)While she sat on the stool behind me working on my shoulders, she would stop...start... leave her hand there and not move it for 10-20 seconds. It was very uncomfortable and unsettling. Once I realized what was happening I pulled off the towel she had laid across my eyes and she was chin in chest sleeping. She had fallen asleep and started snoring during my massage!!!! I woke her up and told her we were done, her reply was is it because you are too hot? ...Really? ... once I was done I went to the front desk and asked the manager to contact me about this situation. While visiting from Chicago we (my guy and I) decided to get a massage. Good thing we were only charged the $55 price for being a first-timer. The young lady at the front desk was pleasant. The place was clean and quiet. We were paired with the opposite sex. I joked she wasn't going to apply enough pressure, little did I know that I would be right. I don't know if she was tired seeing that it was 7pm but whatever you do don't chose Stephanie. Even after he repeatedly asked her for more pressure she didn't improve. She didn't use the hot towels on him, i got hot towels and both masseuse cheated us out of ten minutes. He was really upset when he found out about the hot towels. He said it felt like she was rubbing a feather on him. The guy that took care of me did a great job pressure wise, he asked questions, he didn't talk (i hate talking during) but i need to point out that he had some hygiene issues that should be addressed with his feet. It was hard to relax and breathe. I was here to celebrate and be pampered and this was not a good start to our weekend. read more

Would give less stars if I could. I started a membership in approximately April of 2019. I only went about 3 out of 12 months due to time constraint and my working 3 jobs. I went to the business in March of 2020 in order to physically sign the paperwork in order to cancel my membership altogehter and was told by an employee that I could "freeze" my account for 6 months at $10 per month in order to try to use up my visits. I only agreed to this after asking her SPECIFICALLY if there would be any monies deducted from my account for ANY REASON after this time period was up. I expressed to her many times in our conversation that I was not interested in renewing my membership after this because I simply did not have the time to go. It was a 35-40 min drive to the closest one from my town. Apparently this poorly or either cleverly trained employee, depending on how you look at it, neglected to note on my account that I had requested NOT to auto renew after being told SEVERAL times that I DID NOT want to renew. Upon realizing that I had begun being charged full membership again for October and November of 2020 I immediately called the store to voice my displeasure. I was told by the supposed manager that "unfortunately" she couldn't "find" any notes on my account to this effect. She also tried to get me to tell her who I had talked to because there were no notes showing where I had gone in and frozen my account until I told her that I had just gotten off the phone with another employee who was certainly able to find the notes where I had frozen it. Miraculously she found them but still claimed that there were no notes as to my request to cancel. Yeah, of course not. Massage Envy is a scam operation. Look at their reviews on the Better Business Bureau page. They have done many others like myself. I even asked the manager why in the world she thought someone who had not been able to go in in over a year would want to auto renew their membership. Apparently you don't have to have a brain to work there but have to be dishonest and conniving enough to lie to customers faces in order to make their money and keep the doors open. read more
