I have been a faithful member since 2016. That's almost 10 years. In that time I have NEVER SAME DAY CANCELLED! I may have cancelled but NEVER without ample notice to rebook. I believe I have been a "blue ribbon" member ... prompt, tip well and refer other members. Because of several personal situations in the last year or so I have not been able to use my membership and attempted to cancel. At that time, I had 9 credits and was told I would lose the credits and could not use them UNLESS I maintained a special membership that would cost $10 a month. This membership did not accrue any more credit but simply allowed me to use the credits I had already paid for. OK. I didn't like it, but I opted for that option. Be aware I made multiple attempts in person, on the phone and in emails to get this pseudo-cancellation accomplished before this "option" was offered to me. About a month ago I booked two services but became very ill. The morning of the appointments I called (no one was in yet) but I left a message. I immediately went to the doctor. After recovering I called to determine how many credits remained. I discovered you had charged me the full amount for the services I cancelled for illness. I did not expect that. Prior to this cancellation, I HAD NEVER IN ALMOST 10 YEARS CANCELLED services without ample notice. Imagine my surprise when I was charged. I am incredibly upset. No, I'm angry. I do not believe this is fair or the kind of customer service that is justified given my long-term loyalty. I have subsequently noticed (when attempting to find a way to complain and get a better, more satisfactory resolution) that there are multiple, open, class action lawsuits for this exact type of customer abuse. If there were one in the state of Louisiana (where I live) I would join it. Since there are not and despite multiple unsuccessful attempts to negotiate a more customer satisfactory resolution, I am sending this letter. Additionally, in an effort to wan unsuspecting existing and potential customers, I am posting it on any website that might be applicable. I still have unused credits. But since my original membership so many restrictions have been placed on using my credits, applicable pricing, and any other gimmicks to abuse members, I doubt I will be able to ever use them. Now I must find a way to cancel the ridiculous $10 monthly fee to use credits I've already paid for. A very dissatisfied (and angry) former member! read more

I gotta to give it to Massage Envy on Bluebonnet in BR. I was one of those annoying customers who wanted a couples massage with only a two week notice. I had a window, they had no openings for a couples massage so I said I'd call back. This was a special weekend since it was our anniversary so I called every place in town trying to top their deal of 60 minute massages for only $50 each. Let me just save you the trouble and let you know that first of all, that deal can't be beat and secondly, if you want a couples massage (and are a new customer) for about $100 plus tip you need to plan far in advance. This location Massage Envy did, however have back to back (haha) massage appointments available and that was almost as enticing as a couples massage and the price was definitely right so I was able to thankfully secure back to back massages for us. The ladies at the front desk were nice and my masseuse, Mike was amazing! He was very easygoing and an absolute joy to talk to and gave my muscles exactly what I needed. The massage itself was wonderful but my absolute favorite part was the warm towel on my back at the end. It was so relaxing and felt so great when he pressed down on all of my sore spots that when it was over I really didn't want to leave. The waiting room was nice and relaxing as well...so relaxed that I forgot my headphones there. No worries, though. As soon as I realized my mistake I called and they held them up at the front desk for me until I was able to swing back by and pick them up. He pulled me back and asked what I wanted massaged and then we talked about pressure. He was so nice throughout the massage and we kept a good conversation going. Even throughout the massage he would make sure it wasn't too much pressure. He targeted my problem areas and even helped stretch the area for more relief. I left feeling great! This location happens to have one talented, amazing massage therapist. Absolutely everything else about this organization is terrible. They continued charging me after I cancelled my membership, and then refused to honor the services they charged me for, because I had cancelled my membership. But they charged me! And that was the final entry on a long list of complaints with this corporation. I would absolutely not give this company your credit card information under any circumstances. read more

I have emailed this location, no answer. And I do not want to be told to contact them at their link. They have my name, they know they saw my husband and I yesterday. Same as Lpl R. Website says $70, they say it went up, arrived before 2pm yesterday which was the appointment time. Taken in at 215pm, still had to undress, then bam massage over at 257pm. Cheated 25 minutes, and overcharged for a couple's massage by $20 total. Never again will I go to any Massage Envy. The massages were wonderful, but the misleading and false advertising, are just ridiculous. Too much competition for this kind of business. read more

Tonight I had an initial massage session at your location. The receptionist, white female, black hair, conducted my intake. During the intake, she asked which aroma I would like for my session. She allowed me to smell three (3) aromas. I selected one. She quoted me $80 for the session. I stated, "your website states $70." She replied, "this is a franchise and the price listed on the site is a national price." I was certain when I made the appointment that the amount was $70 for 60 min massage session. I moved forward with the appointment. Issue #1: Your receptionist lied The therapist entered 50 minutes on the timer. I asked why I was not getting 60 minutes. He stated there is a 10 minute consultation, so the actual session is 50 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes early. I was walked to the massage room at 8:59 PM, the therapist left to wash his hands and allowed me to disrobe. The massage began at 9:08 PM and concluded at 9:58 PM. There was never a 10 minute consult, which should not be apart of the session anyway, if it is advertised as a 60 minute massage session. The receptionist confirmed the 50 minutes at the end of my session and that a 10 minute consult is factored into every session. I asked for a printed receipt. The receptionist stated they don't print receipts and it will be emailed, with itemization of the service. I check my email and see the receipt and I was charged $10.00 for the aroma lotion. Receptionist NEVER stated there was a charge for the aroma lotion. She quoted the price as it being the franchise pricing. She is dishonest. I filed a complaint with corporate, my cc company and the BBB. read more

However...I transferred a massage to my sister and the staff didn't let my sister or I know that the massage would expire 30 days after transfer, which is ridiculous. My sister lost her credit, which was $60. It's absurd that they can just take something that you paid for without anything in return. read more

AVOID THIS LOCATION. This location is incapable of keeping appointments correctly. My appointments have been messed up so many times that I can't keep count. Then I have a genuine emergency and I'm told I have to forfeit a month of service even though I've had my appointments changed last minute or shown up to be told my appointment was put the following week instead of this week. I should have charged them every time they messed up. I'd have years of free services. This place is a joke. Go to a different location unless you like having your time wasted. Wow! I got a few good laughs reading the "reasons" for the bad reviews on Massage Envy, seriously how whiney can you get? So of course I have to leave a review to set the record straight. To the people complaining about fine print and hard to cancel memberships ... seriously? Of course you can't just cancel as you please and of course there's rules it's a CONTRACT. It boils down pretty simply, If you get regular massages the membership will save you a ton in the long run. If you are a special occasion only massage customer then a membership isn't for you. I've been a member for a couple years now and never have I regretted it. Some of y'all have GOT to lighten up, it's just not that serious. Step off your high horse, relax and enjoy life a little. No they don't hound you for upsales. Yes they will offer you a membership but wouldn't you want to know about something that could save you money? And yes they will offer you added services but not excessively so and it's always based on what they think you will benefit from. If you are looking for a great massage and great conversation (because lets face it 90 minutes of silence is just painfully awkward) ask for Eden or Matt they are both wonderful. I received a gift card from a coworker and was excited to book a massage after the long retail holiday season. The booking process was a little more complicated than I would have expected. The receptionist on the phone asked me for a lot of information, such as my address, and a credit card to have on file, even though I was paying with a gift card. This was fine, I understand they have policies. What was confusing though, was that she didn't ask me how long of a massage I wanted to book. She automatically assumed I only wanted 60 minutes and did not provide me with an option to schedule for longer. (Even if my gift card would have only covered 60min, I would have gladly paid the extra myself for a quality massage.) As it turns out, I'm glad she didn't. When I came in I was greeted immediately, handed paperwork to fill out with my information and trouble areas, and options for 'add ons' to my massage, and told a therapist would be right with me to 'personalize' my experience. What this really was, was a sales tactic to convince me to purchase a membership with them. You'd think they would try to save that for after I get my first massage with them, so I can make an informed decision! Their sales people are nice enough, but don't seem to really care about anything but selling a membership. I'm not easily swayed by professional sellers (I am one myself!), so I politely, but firmly, declined. I did, however, take them up on an extra service for a moisturizing foot treatment, thinking this would add more time and some extra massage attention to my tired, aching feet. When I met my therapist, Bridgette, she was kind and professional, though seemed to be somewhat uninformed and unprepared. She instructed me to undress when she stepped out of the room, and clarified that I wanted the extra foot treatment, as well as where I was experiencing pain. During the massage, we chatted (I'm a talker), and she was extremely nice. However, the massage itself left a lot to be desired. When I detail that I want deep tissue, extremely firm pressure, and that I experience pain in my legs, back, shoulders and neck, I expect more than for you to just rub my body down with oils! No extra attention was paid to my problem areas, and I felt no particular release of tension at all. Then, when it came to the foot treatment, Bridgette had to leave and go gather the materials needed, which cut about 5 minutes off of my massage itself. The foot treatment was paraffin wax, which is nice for the softening of my skin, but she didn't even massage my feet! Overall, the place is clean and the workers are nice, but this isn't a facility I would visit again for a really professional, tension releasing massage. The prices are inexpensive for a reason, you don't get a real massage. I won't be back. read more

I had received several hundred-dollar gift cards for Massage Envy and finally decided to use them for a day of massage and facial services. I also intended to purchase the products suggested by the esthetician. Made my appointments and to Massage Envy I went. I was met with a friendly, helpful staff, but before we could get to the sales pitch I have heard so much about, I was told that each of my gift cards had been partially used and only had a few dollars remaining on each one! I asked for the manager. I told the manager that I had received the cards over several occasions (birthday, Christmas, Valentines Day, etc.) and had saved them. I pointed out that I had only just moved back to Louisiana so I hadn't even been here to have used the cards. She immediately went to work tracking information in their computer system and found that someone had been coming in to another Baton Rouge location and telling them that she was me, had lost the gift card(s). They allowed her to book and use NUMEROUS services over SEVERAL occasions until almost all of the money had been used (I had less than $50 left from the combined gift cards). The manager was unable to replace the missing money as the cards had been purchased at the Citiplace location. When I went there, they refused to look up the same information and refused to acknowledge that they had allowed someone to use my cards. My Father continues to purchase Massage Envy gift cards for me so I have tried to use them when I have them. But today, there was ANOTHER problem with the amount on the cards (I have 2, $100 cards). Each card came with a "Massage Envy Promotional Card" that entitled me to an additional $25 and $50 when used for products or services and used before the expiration date. When I went to buy a product, the dollar amount on the gift card did not come up in the computer. The sales person said "I'll just assume I'd had x on it." and proceeded to put that amount on the card. I had no idea how to respond to that as I had the gift card but no receipt and Daddy never writes the amount on the card. Then, I pointed out that I wanted to redeem the $25 promotional card. The sales person tried to use it, but said that it appears that the person who sold the card forgot to "put the $25 on the card." Very odd because the amount is actually printed on the card. I have received good massages from this company but... Bottom line is: DO NOT PURCHASE A GIFT CARD FROM THESE PEOPLE and pay them in cash. They do not protect the money that you give to them and apparently do not keep adequate records for a company that has multiple locations nationwide. read more
