A year and a half ago we found it necessary to move our mom out of her home and into an assisted…read moreliving facility due to her dementia which was also complicated by Type 2 diabetes. After touring several facilities in the Mt. Pleasant area we decided on Green Acres and we're so pleased with our decision. Mom's caregivers are attentive, responsive and kind to her. The medical staff has kept a watchful eye on her condition and has been wonderful in providing her excellent care as well as keeping our family fully informed on everything going on. While her condition causes her to not want to participate in many of the activities offered, the CNAs are wonderful at coaxing her out of her room....Her room is always nice and clean. I've read the other Yelp reviews and am in total disagreement with any that criticize this facility (these people must either be disgruntled prior employees or not understanding of the treatments needed for dementia).

Total scam. Put a bullet through your loved one's head instead of dropping them off at Green Acre$…read more Especially if your loved one has dementia, is in ANY way physically, emotionally or psychologically impaired. Do NOT trust this facility!!...they won't properly feed your diabetic loved one, they wont medicate them properly, they wont care for them properly AT ALL. I would not trust these scammers with a pet rock. They promised to give my loved one pain meds every 4 hours, but only gave it every 12 hrs ( only because I forced them to). They promised edible meals for a diabetic, but THEY LIED. They have no nutritionist, no diabetic meals, no snacks for diabetics....and their "workers" are unskilled laborers being trained on the job. The manager, Eileen, is HORRIBLE and disrespectful to the elderly residents and all other life forms. AVOID!! P.S. The popcorn in the fake "cafe" is made not even once a week. Its stale and disgusting. They re-heat it for the aroma...like air freshener. Most elderly cannot even eat popcorn, anyway. THE SO-CALLED "24 hr cafe" is LOCKED UP AT NIGHT. Their CUPCAKES ARE pretty but STALE and UNHEALTHY. CUPCAKES ARE EYE CANDY FOR THE RELATIVES...for $$$$.. ALSO, $5,000-$6200./ month should probably include two- ply toilet paper. And light bulbs. But it doesn't. AVOID. TOTAL SCAM!

RUN...do not trust Maple Ridge Manor (Manistee) with the care of your loved one…read more The only positive comment about this facility is that it is beautiful. Beyond the beauty, it is lacking in every way. The staff are undertrained in providing dementia care and understanding the mind of person struggling with dementia. The management is unprofessional and seemingly unaware (although they've been informed) of the deep issues in care in the dementia wing. In the 36 days my loved one was under the care of Maple Ridge Manor the staff NEVER showered, changed incontinence clothing in morning, or prepared my loved one for bed. ALL care was provided by the family. Doors to the locked unit were often propped open, and the staff in the locked unit were often not present. (Yes, dementia residents were LOCKED in a wing without a caregiver. Yes, this was reported to the state.) Needless to say, the family felt the need to be present most hours of the day to ensure care. Of course, my loved one was moved to a new facility. In one week in the new facility, my loved one has been showered (it's not easy, but it happens), changed both a.m. and p.m., and care for without the help of family. My loved one's anxiety is decreasing and seems calmer. The family is beginning to leave for longer periods of time and trusts that care is happening. Maple Ridge Manor IS NOT the facility to trust with the care and love for your loved one.

The staff is extremely caring and dedicated to serving their customers. I have toured the property several times and it is always immaculate. I have personally recommend this to friends with aging parents or grandparents.
