The masjid was always my late dad's favorite masjid, especially because of its informative Jumaah sermons (khutba), therefore dad acquainted me with it since I arrived in the States. I do like the masjid, but I can't fathom, since masjids are crucial community hubs, when the admins will implement social activities and further didactic programs, including field/local and nationwide trips, thorough matrimonial events and services from meetings one's soulmate to marriage ceremony and beyond, sewing and cooking sessions, foreign language classes, etc. Such activities can help develop and improve Muslims' character and life, which the whole universe needs. read more

I am going to be bias in my review. I practically grew up there. From riding my bike inside the building, playing basketball, Sunday school, and prayer. So many great memories. This masjid changed a lot over the years. Turning the theater into a proper masjid. There are still a lot of work need to be done. If you prayed at that masjid when the middle section was a 45 degree slope. You are a OG at this masjid. This place run by foreigners. Even split of Arab, desi, and Africans. So it's okay to say this masjid have its own problems. However, at the end of the day this masjid is a staple of the community. Great place! Come check it out. read more

As salaam alaikum, I could not be as humbled as I'm now being a survivor of Hurricane Irma. I came to Philly and sought out a Masjid to become active with. Unfortunately I suffered some loses due to this hurricane. Brothers told me to go to this Masjid to seek social services to relocate my business and a place to stay. I was told by Imam Yahya that there was no services available in the ummah that he could help me with, or information that he could provide.....? Although this community is seeking donations for a million dollar project to make it look better, while no active community services are in place to help with it's own community......want us to contribute for a luxury Masjid from our pockets and can't even provide solid social information not money but simple information, confused!!! read more

Wonderful Masjid that sits at 42nd and Walnut street right across from Makah Market. It's very large and spacious on the inside. In keeping with Islam there is a separate Prayer section for the men and a large separate prayer section for the women. In between is a large area for gatherings. There are also very lovely bathrooms. This Masjid is Multicultural people from all races come to pray here. It's a mixture of Moderate Sunnis and Conservative Salafis. My favorite mosque in Philadelphia. It's not fancy or anything, and the woman's side could sure use some revamping, but it feels like home. The Friday Khutba is usually informative and interesting and al hamdulilah, in both English and Arabic. The Sheik's recitation of the Quran is beautiful and the nice mixture of different cultures is refreshing. I highly recommend this mosque for Jummah and Taraweah prayers in the Ramadan season. read more

Unclean. Qibla is in the incorrect direction. The Musalla a couple blocks down, the one on 45th and Walnut, is way better.
