just received delivery, railway station lamb curry and rice was just ok...... but I can't believe you have just send (and charged me for) a store bought nana bread which you have 'tarted' up. it is definitely not made by you. I was in Davidson last week and had lunch with an amazing naan bread. what you have sent today is a disgrace and I will never order from you again. read more

First time coming here, had a great experience. Ordered the roadside Bhaji fritters and a mango lassi. The mango lassi was delicious, maybe a little sweet for my preference but overall very good. The fritters were very good, had a nice amount of spice (but not very hot) and the brown sauce on the side really completed the flavor profile. Gosh, I truly want to support Indian food here.... I really do, and I was so excited to see a new Indian restaurant in Davidson. Great location. The street food idea is great and their cute Indian food mobile sign at the entrance is what caught my eye to alert me that they were there. The staff was super friendly and I was excited. I sat at a table outside which looks over two main Roads in Davidson. Great views! The waiter brought my drink in a plastic cup. It was water with no ice. I tried several dishes, Firstly the momos, worst ones I've ever had. So plain, the sauce was a ketchup consistency with a decent spicy kick but overall lacking in quality or depth of flavor. next up the "Roadside Bhaji"....The outside consistency was great but the inside was a bit doughy and the sauce provided was boring and bland. I tried dipping them in their Raita which was just awful. I'm not sure if the raita was even made of yoghurt but milk instead. I wanted a Hot Chai but there were no vegan options for the milk. I Also tried the saag Paneer. Just not very good at all. I've had better boxed palak paneer from the grocery store. The paneer tasted like soft tofu. Great location. Nice people, but they really need to work on their recipes. read more

I was dealing with a dairy and soy intolerant newborn (plus allergic to seafood myself) when we first started order from them - they were SO informative and accommodating. Sangam lovers rejoice! If you've ever loved the original, you'll love the new spin off operated by the son of Sangam's owner. Try to grab a seat on the covered porch out front and people watch out over one of the prettiest main streets in NC! Downtown Davidson is charming in every season and it's always fun to eat outside and take in the scenery. The "Kreamy Korma" brings all the flavor you want from Indian food and so much rich texture once you heap it by the spoonfuls on to fragrant basmati rice. My only complaint was that the "hot" spice I asked for wasn't hot enough. Maybe next time I'll brave "Indian hot" instead. The Raste Ke Biryani had crispy onions on top and came with a variety of healthy veggies inside the dish. It wasn't my favorite but I can see it being a nice dish to share with a few friends if you're trying a bunch of menu items. I always love the Desi salad which is a perfect raw food compliment to the saucy and heavily spiced dishes. Garlic naan and Raita are another great combo to add to your lunch or dinner...our kids love having the naan and tomato soup together as a meal. The portions are perfect at lunch and prices super reasonable considering the food quality is so high. We spent around $14 per person at lunch and had lots of leftovers for dinner that eve. Highly recommend this delicious family business - they can cook and give great service too! read more

The service and food here are both so great. We have dined in and done take out and both were good. Especially helpful were the staff who answered questions about dishes. I love the biryani and my husband always picks the jalfrezi. My 4 year old and 2 year old are some times averse to spice but love korma so I asked about how mild this could be made and the staff explained they can't make it with zero spice (which I respect for authenticity in a recipe) but that it would be mild. So we gave it a shot and our kids each happily had two bowls from the to-go order with no complaints. It had the smallest bit of spice that you could maybe just call heat but they didn't mind it. As a big fan of Indian cuisine, we were excited to find this restaurant after moving to the area. We aren't exactly close, so we generally get takeout and even able to get delivery which is a huge plus! But the restaurant itself is a super fun place to go have a meal. The restaurant is actually a historic house/building on one of the main streets downtown. Nestled between other buildings on one of the main streets, you'll notice the rickshaw and other authentic Indian flare out front and inside. It is a unique and fun place to go enjoy a meal. The food is fantastic and probably some of the best I've had. Many dishes are naturally gluten-free and free of other common allergies like dairy and peanuts. We have a number several dietary restrictions and there was only one item we were interested in and that we could not have because it was breaded. I will say that their menu online is a bit confusing. It says at one point that all items are gluten-free, and some of them are not. But the staff are extremely friendly and easy to talk to about any specific questions or ingredients. They even were willing to make something that was not on the menu, that is a common dish at Indian restaurants. That was a relief for us and super nice. We dine here often and it's always enjoyable. read more

In all fairness I think they were understaffed, as the staff we did see looked really busy. It's set up for table service, not a counter. We were seated right away but it took about 30 min for someone to take our order, and after we ate, took quite awhile for them to bring the check out. People at all the tables around us seemed to have similarly long waits for menus, drinks, and placing their order. The staff was pleasant when we saw them. The food wasn't bad, but wasn't particularly good or memorable. We got a spice level of "medium" and barely tasted any spice. A few vegetables seemed as if the stems hadn't been fully trimmed as we got some woody bits. The naan seemed as if had been sitting awhile. We got two entrees, an appetizer, and naan and our bill came to almost $50. So a little pricey for something billed as "street food." We sat on the patio facing Main Street so the ambiance was nice. I really wanted to like it, but sadly it wasn't a super great dinner. I hope they are able to get more staff on board as I think that will help a lot, or maybe redesign it as a more casual counter-service type of place not as dependent on waitstaff. read more

Was so hopefully to have a local spot with tasty Indian food! Gobi Manchurian and chili chicken were just fried in some colored batter and served some scallions and chillies. No sauce, no other flavor. Basic Tikka masala was just plain chicken chunks with some color and raw spices on top...would expect more for restaurant quality. this is a signature dish that has to be done in an oven..We did get like 7 cups for the 1 gravy dish we ordered..strange but good fluffy rice. I could not be more excited about this addition to Main Street in Davidson! I'm a fussy Indian food lover, and this place did not disappoint. Starting with the positives: Friendly staff, good timely service, nice location. Chicken tikka tasted like a thick tomato soup and the chicken did not seem stewed at all. The garlic naan was somewhat crispy and lacked garlic flavor. I'm used to a thicker softer naan with bits of garlic. Korma sauce was very thick. Also, tasted a bit like it came from a jar. I was disappointed based on the good reviews. I like to end on a positive note and say we only ordered those 2 dishes and maybe the other offerings are as good as the reviewers claim. read more

This tiny little Indian place was a real treat. The folks at the counter were patient with questions about allergies. We each ordered a different entree and got a couple apps for my son's meal and to share. The korma and saag sauces were great with tasty chicken and paneer. The masala was a little under seasoned and runnier than I am accustomed but tasted great. The gentleman gave my little one a mango drink and loaded us down with rice to share.
