I recently had two coats altered and repaired by Mary. One was a long coat with a zipper that kept splitting. I brought it to another place in town and they quoted $50 to replace the zipper because of the length, way too much for its original cost. So it sat in my closet waiting to be donated to Goodwill. I bought another coat for the coming winter and needed to have the sleeves shortened. Right before heading to Mary's, I grabbed the first coat on a whim. She took one look and said that zipper itself was fine, it was just the pull that needed to be replaced. She fixed it on the spot and charged only $10. I've worn this coat for almost two months and the zipper has not split since. I am happy with the work she did on both coats. Mary works out of her home and doesn't seem to have set business hours, so it's a good idea to call ahead of time. She is also very responsive via email. She will even deliver them to your home for an additional $5. Turnaround was about 4 days, and the price was very reasonable. read more

I brought my wedding dress to Mary after researching some options in Rochester. I had multiple alterations done on the dress and also had it steamed. She got the dress done very timely and for a great price. Mary worked with me as I had to reschedule a couple times and she was always easy to work with. She had me try the dress on when I picked it up to confirm it was all done to my specifications and it was. Fit was perfect and the work done on the dress was spot on. I came to have some pants hemmed here. Simple hems for jeans were okay, but ones where the original hems needed to be kept were just done horribly. It was not worth the price. I had to go somewhere else to fix that mistake. read more

I am new to the Rochester area and Mary was recommended to me for some alterations I needed done to a bridesmaid dress. At my appointment after I put my dress on, she insisted I only needed to straps taken in a couple of inches and didn't even bother to look at how the rest of the dress fit me (I ordered it two sizes bigger since it had to be purchased online). It took her two weeks to get back to be about getting it done. And also insisted that I not try on the dress when I returned to pick it up because "it will be good". Since I paid $45 for my straps to be taken in and my dress steamed, I did feel it was necessary to try it on. Luckily the straps fit better but I still felt like I was swimming in the dress. Unfortunately the wedding was less than a week away so I was not comfortable leaving the dress to be worked on more AND paying more money for something that could of been fixed the first time around. I will be finding somewhere else in Rochester for my alterations to be done. I felt that Mary was rude and not very accommodating. read more
