A woman buying a large bag of junk silver was being helped to her car by one of the workers when I arrived, and the staff of four was busy working behind the scenes. One of them found coin capsules that would fit my coins and I looked at some secondary market 1 oz silver rounds - purchasing one at only $1 over spot - which had me considering more! My neighbors, long-time residents of Grants Pass, recommended Burton as they know him personally. They trust his expertise. I had him look at two gold coins and a large cent. He was honest about their value and assessed them quickly, explaining why he would not get them graded. When my mom passed eight years ago, I was in this shop to sell off some gold scrap. That was a seamless experience that left me with a positive memory, trusting this place. This most recent experience just solidified my trust. I like the transparency about what they'll buy and how much. I was immediately aware that this shop leans more into purchasing things for melt-value versus the numismatic value. The cases in the shop had silver coins displayed - mainly junk silver (silver quarters, dimes, halves) as well as rounds and bars. This shop offered the same purchase price as another coin shop in town for the $20 gold double-eagle coin from 1905 we brought in, but almost $200 more for the $5 gold coin than the other shop. I would come to this shop if I wanted to sell coins for melt value. I would check online before going in on the prices and what they are buying (I like this), but I probably wouldn't buy from them, and numismatic collectors would most likely not like this shop very much.

It was very busy when we went in on a Wednesday at noon, but we were warmly greeted. We waited in line for about 10 minutes to have the owner view our coins and tally up when he would offer to purchase them. (Slightly under melt value.) I asked him about getting the coin sent off to be graded, and he gave me honest advice "You could spend $80 to send it in and they might not grade it at all. This coin has been cleaned and has scratches. I wouldn't send it in." I appreciated his explanation and honesty. If I'd had more time I would have loved to have looked at the cases in the shop, filled with both new and historical goodies. They know what they're doing and they offer fair return on precious metals. It seems cluttered and a bit chaotic at first, but it's a fun kind of busy with lots to look at and knowledgeable people running it. Check it out!

I didn't have an exact vision when I first came in and she showed me all the various designs and choices that I could go with for engagement rings. Ultimately I had some specific things that I wanted: 6 prongs, but with the ability for two side stones because I had some small side pieces from my late grandma that I wanted to incorporate. Anna scoured their supply and when we ultimately decided that their current vendors had things that were close but not exactly we decided to make it custom. I thought that making it custom would have been a high cost but it was extremely reasonable, and ended up coming in under my budget but the ring was exactly what I wanted! My (now) fiancé said it was a dream ring and looked exactly how she envisioned. I have probably 20 or so emails back and forth with Anna as I made small tweaks to the design and coordinated visits to see the diamond or the wax mold they made for the custom ring before it was cast. Their communication was always swift and thoroughly answered all my questions. A main reason why I decided to shop locally is because I was concerned about getting the size exactly right. Even after discretely getting her ring size, my estimation ended up being slightly too big. I went in with my Fiancé and they said no worries, it was an easy fix! While their goldsmith was finishing a vacation, they gave us a neat attachment that would temporarily make the ring smaller so we could keep the ring over the weekend and bring it in on Tuesday when the goldsmith was back. Plus, they're also getting a free insurance appraisal complimentary as a part of doing business with them. They even sent me a CAD of the ring design so I could see it in a "3D" way which was awesome. I went in with a ring, that I've found about a year prior, it was gorgeous!! 14k with 2 diamond flowers. Now, I KNOW they were diamonds ... It seriously looked like there was sparkly crushed gold in it. It sparkled so much I got compliments on it DAILY (was a bartender and teller at a Bank. I had lost a lot of weight. And needed to size it down. Also the prongs were coming a little loose and I was scared to loose the stones!! So I take it on, and they said they could fix it. My stupid butt told them that the ring had been found... And I knew they were diamonds, and seriously I wanted to get it appraised... It was that beautiful. So he was going to size it, add more gold to the prongs and check the diamonds... Something like that. It would be done in like 10 days. It was a foggy day when I picked it up. The guy said it wasnt diamonds and he thought it might be white sapphire... I thought that was strange but okay!! I loved the ring and it had a lot of gold. He brought the ring out with a black and white photo that he took the day I dropped it off... And says, "is this your ring??" And I said yes of course it is... You were the one who took it in! Then he made me sign something stating that it was my ring. And I did. Then he said something strange ... He said that white sapphire dulls easily, so I might want to get it cleaned regularly... I thought okay... They do free cleaning. But I told him I wasn't worried ... I've worn the ring for a year now and never had trouble with the sparkle in the stones ... In fact, it was the sparkle AT NIGHT that had me find it... In a dusty old rock parking lot!! He gave me a strange look but I didn't catch it at the time. I paid $900 BUCKS!!! for the gold and sizing it. $900. I take my ring home, wearing it of course, happy I didn't need a ring guard etc etc. it didn't sparkle much, but it was a dark rainy day. Well, I can SWEAR to you, they SWITCHED MY STONES!!! I SWEAR TO YOU... They SWITCHED MY STONES AND CHARGED ME 900 BUCKS!! I was so upset but couldn't go back in there and say anything because not only did I tell him I didn't know what stones it was... I signed the paper stating it was my ring, like a legal paper stating I examined it and it was mine .. but like I said... It was cloudy!
