i ordered a bouquet from Martyn Crossley for my 3 year anniversary, which I wasn't entirely happy with. To be fair to the shop, the order was relatively short notice and described over the phone so I can understand there would have been some confusion (the person who took my order was very nice). The problems came when I contacted them to say I wasn't happy with what arrived. I was called back by the owner, who variously explained that: 1.) I'd gotten what I'd ordered (which was true in one sense, but I hadn't gotten what I wanted); 2.) his shop offered a 'couture service' rather than off the rack (which was interesting given that I was essentially told to take what I was given); 3.) that I should have ordered earlier; 4.) that I should have come in to the shop 5.) that if I wasn't in a restaurant and what I had been given wasn't good enough, I would have to lump it 6.) his business had been going for 20 years without a complaint. He then 'educated' me on the price of flowers (I made the apparent mistake of saying I didn't think I had gotten value for money) and ended the call by saying he hoped I had learned something about flowers. Whilst I'm sure that it wasn't intentional for him to give me something I wasn't happy with, I was disappointed by just how little he seemed to care that I wasn't happy. Although I hadn't spent a huge amount, even saying "sorry, I'll make sure you have a better experience next time." Would have been ok. Perhaps this wouldn't have happened had I gone in to the shop or maybe there was something he didn't like about me. Either way, i won't be going back. read more
