MUCH ADO INDEED…read more Thame Players excelled themselves in their adaption 'Much Ado About Nothing', brilliantly cast and scripted set in the 30's final night Saturday 11th July Following an eye operation Saturday morning at JR Hospital after slicing my eyeball and inserting a lens I had the benefit of enjoying every sequence missing nothing through 'double vision' as the cast injected their personal characters into the role giving me and my guest countless grins and laughter, loved Beatrice's attempts at 'covert' scenes with the 'hands first appearing on the back of a chair followed by a face and of course the 'Old Vic' who played one! Set in the grounds of The Elms, (period property) creating a marvellous backdrop (shame the Moon which was the closest to the Elms! that night was hiding in the night clouds), the tech boys had the sound just right and the scenery changers put me in a flap! As I stumbled over the odd clump of grass during the interval due to my 'double vision' friendly hands took charge of my wine glass preventing spillage as we made our way to our seats for a thoroughly enjoyable evening Well done Thame Players Robert Brown

The location normally means that it is very popular with all of the locals, especially at weekends when everyone wants to take the dog for a walk and pop in to get the paper. There always seems to be a dog or 2 outside waiting for their owner to return. Beyond the papers and magazines, they also sell some basic items like milk and bread and they also do sell some very basic and cheap toys if you're ever stuck for a quick birthday present.

Because Good News is situated in the heart of Soho, where all of London's hippest fashion houses, production companies and media firms are generally based, it needs to offer it's clients something different. Sure, you can get the usual paper, a juice and a bag of crisps but I've never seen so many magazines. If your looking for fashion, music, business or art, they have every single commercial, weird and underground paper and magazine you can imagine and even stock some industry mags as well like Music Week for example. Although I don't work in Soho anymore, if I pass this shop, I always stop by and pick up a magazine I know I can't get anywhere else...

The stationery is all good quality, with plenty of plain notepads, ringbinders and pens to satisfy those basic needs, but also lots of funky collections of things for your inner (or real) school child. I like the pencil cases - furry animals or shiny tins - and the ring binders with stripes or cartoon animals on. Yes, it's childish, but if you're going to do boring things involving filing, you might as well bring a bit of colour into it. They so everything from printer paper to ink cartridges, calligraphy sets to sketching pencils, diaries and calendars, post-its and hole punches. Your desktop will never have been so jazzed up. The other half of the shop has a great range of magazines. It's one of the only places in Oxford where you can get quite obscure magazines and is well worth checking out. You can order a newspaper or magazine to be delivered if you live locally, or order a magazine they dont normally stock to collect from the shop. The staff are nice, really friendly. Oh, and you can tell I dont smoke, they also sell cigarettes and lighters!
