Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner who welcomed us and showed us up to our room. This suite was very spacious and quite reasonable given the nature of the room. We were offered cocktails in the lounge and showed around. They have a lovely library with a selection of french and english books with a computer for guests to use if required. Self serve coffee is available in the dining room at any time. For breakfast we were served wonderful french toast with fresh fruit. We had a bit of time to kill so I took advantage of the front porch to make a few calls and enjoy a coffee. There is also a quaint boutique on the lower level of the inn where some great clothing and gifts can be foudn. This is a great spot and offers a whole new level of accommodations in Edmundston. Wether you're here on business or for a vacation, I highly recommend staying here.

You enter in here to a tastefully decorated lobby with a little convenience store with small amount of items to the fit of the check in desk. There is also some comfortable seats in the lobby area and an open view to Frank's restaurant. The room I had reserved was a nice one bedroom Queen with small living room. The room comes with a fridge and is quite relaxing and homely feeling. An automatic thermostat is handy to set the room temperature. Although the first night as left the HVAC unit on it was a bit loud during the night. So on night two I shut it off and slept better. A nice large easy to use LCD TV adorned the wall which was great. Overall I was impressed with this place. A very good restaurant on site was a bonus as I was tired after a long day. Free wifi although a bit slow in peak hours was a bonus! Only Negative was the soap and shampoo products for Four Points. It seriously smells unappealing. 10 years ago Four Points had a lemon scented one that was much better. At many hotels I want to bring the shampoo home. Here I barely want to use it and think of bringing some from home it smells so putrid! If Starwood corporate is reading this it smells like something they would provide you on ration in a State penitentiary prison. Please change.

Pool looks great (we did not go as it was busy and did not want to intrude). Breakfast was continental with hot eggs, sausages, ham, and potato flat things (name escapes me at the moment), and has two waffle makers. Second floor pass through to the restaurant/casino (bring your hotel room key because you will not get back in if you do not have it). Awesome coffee machine at the exit. Room design is great. Two types of blinds. Beds comfy. Pillows soft. Toilet, and shower/get ready area, separate in the room. The bad: Carpet design is not great. Staff at breakfast was a little rude though. Only two carriages for luggage. This is a " pit stop " hotel for longer travellers. But it is a nice one. Restaurant is good and casino, although small, is nice also. Worth the stop.

TOO NOISY Booked a…read moreroom in advance for a layover sleep on our way from Ottawa to Nova Scotia. If you're in need of a good nights rest I suggest you request a top floor room as the floors are not carpeted and there is absolutely no sound barrier. After an hour of listening to what seamed like a football game going on in the room upstairs, I tried calling the front desk and realized they had a phone but no outlet to plug it into so I went down. One of the ladies at the front desk went up to talk to them but it went on for another 90 minutes. My husband went down to see if they could change our room and was told it wasn't possible and that they couldn't say anything to them until after 11 pm so I went up myself. The man in the room was very apologetic, he didn't realize it was that noisy and the banging abruptly stopped. It was quite evident that nobody at the front desk bothered to do a courtesy knock on their door. The continental breakfast left a lot to be desired, eggs were watery and tasteless and the bacon almost seemed deep fried. I was confused with the tip jar on the counter, I served myself, got my own coffee and cleaned my own table off. Gratuity is for service and there wasn't much of that here. I am quite aware that it is a hotel and there will be noise, doors slamming, the odd kid screaming, etc. but we paid 300 dollars for a good nights sleep and I expected better.

I initially had 1 dog and 1 cat but when I found out they would charge $200/week I made different accomodations for my cat. So I should have been charged $100/week but no they still charged $200/week. I tried to ask the Managers Jen & Randy if they could explain why they had charged me for $200/week when I only had one dog and they never answered. I went on their website and their policy states they charge $100/week per dog. So I finally was able to determine who the owners are and messaged them and they will be issuing me a credit. The Manager Randy also told me that they could not extend my reservation past 3 weeks according to their policy, and of course there is no mention of it on their policy. If you have any complaints about the Gateway Motel I suggest that you go right to the owner G Suites Hospitality!

I immediately received a mail telling me that I had to wait a confirmation that never came. The following night when I arrived in Madawaska with my son and husband after a long trip complicated by heavy rains and many delays (coming from Quebec), we went to the Gateway Motel, hoping that maybe they hadn't seen my reservation. We arrived at 11 :30 and noticed that there only were 4 or 5 cars parked, most of the rooms were empty. As the front door was opened we entered and tried to call the emergency number we found in the lobby. Nobody answered. I then tried to call the manager, no answer. I left a message telling to call me back as soon as possible. We then went upstairs, thinking his office might be upstairs but we had the surprise to find us directly in the corridor leading to the rooms. Had we been terrorists or any all-intentioned perso, it's just frightening... I tried several times to call the emergency number but no answer. We then decided to find another motel but since we couldn't find any, we had no other choice than to sleep in our car. Two days later, my husband noticed the amount of the night had been withdrawn from our bank account. I sent a mail to the manager to ask for a refund and explain what happened. He told me that my reservation had been confirmed by mail (a mail I've never received), that they had tried to contact me all day long to know the time of our arrival (I haven't received any mail nor call) and refused to give me my money back, ignoring my messages when I told him I hadn't received any mail from him. I can only advise against this establishment run by dishonest persons and in which anyone can enter so easily while the clients are sleeping.

The property itself is a stone throw away from the highway. There is nothing around it - nothing. You have to drive at least 15 minutes to some decent restaurants. We were checked in quickly and we walked up the stairs and saw some neat things as soon as we reached up the floor. The room was really good. The bed really comfortable, the pillows good, the room clean, the TV perfectly placed and good size. The view of the room overlooking the highway was OK. The bathroom neat and good as well. The beeline the day was eggs, bacon, cereal and all other normal things. Nothing exciting but included in the price. Busy and chaotic at the breakfast area which made it more worst than it should. The decor is extremely dated and there is no theme, they have a collection of old t.v.'s, baby carriages, rocking horse and even a few suites of armour. The creepiest part of this collection was found when my boyfriend and I were looking for a vending machine, we turned a corner to find creepy baby dolls just hanging out in a high chair and stroller. The carpets were stained everywhere. I found a large old coffee stain ( i hope it was coffee) on our bed sheet. There were black specks in the toilet water every time you flushed, and white specks in the ice from the ice machine. It took forever to get water pressure and heat in the shower. The clock radio didn't have a volume nob. They offer a continental breakfast, but they don't have a dinning room, instead they set up folding chairs and tables in the small lobby, and not enough of them for the amount of guests they can accommodate. Then there is no room between the tables and the area where the food is, and they had the plates/ cutlery set up mid way through the food line, so you had to fight through people in line to get your place and then go back to the start of the line to actually get food. We went to the drink vending machine and selected a powerade, it came out, and we selected another powerade but instead a gatorade came out. As is common is most hotels there were two servings of coffee and tea in our room however they only gave us one single packet of creamer. There was no fridge. The walls are extremely thin and you can hear every door open, not to mention an odd continuous buzzing from the hall while we tried to sleep. There "exercise room" has only 2 machines, and their laundry room is a closet with no door, a table and one washing machine. I have stayed an many Days Inns around Canada and this was the worse one by far. We paid $120.00 for one night for a queen bed room, and that was with a CAA discount, the room is generally $130. The whole experience was not worth the price at all. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Not all the outlets work, which poses a problem as electronics have to be charged and both of us use CPAP machines. The only good thing is I have somewhere to put my head after a 12 hour drive. The pillows are so bad that 4 folded in half make for a comfortable place to put your head. If you have a bad back, this is not the hotel for you. The staff that were on when we checked were not helpful at all. NEVER AGAIN

The gentleman that checked us in was very kind, polite and efficient. I had feared from the outside view as we pulled in that this hotel was not going to meet my expectations. They had very old looking individual air conditioners through the windows of each room. The age and condition gave me serious doubts. I was half right as in the end it did not!!! but it also didn't meet the standard of human decency, our room was just that bad. As my family and I walked down the hall to our room on the first floor, which we hate, we thought it can't be too bad as the hallway was nearly immaculate in its cleanliness, with its fairly up-to-date looking modern tile work. so we said maybe it was a decent hotel, and despite my initial fears I found a sense of hope. While the hallway renewed our hopes, nothing prepared us for what was in store in that room. And the hallway?....that is where our hopes were left dead and in full Rigamortus...on those clean hall tiles. The best way to describe it is like walking into a nightmare. I was in the 2020s coming down the hall, opened the door, and was suddenly thrust into the late 70s/early 80s!!!! I am certain that was the last time that room, and I'm guessing the rest of the rooms, were updated! The first thing that hit us was a stink so bad I could only describe it as stank! It smelled like a combination of musty, mildew, dirty dog, and sweat! The beds were certainly old and very cheap. The carpets were old and gross looking. There were light switches on the wall, where the switches sharing the same panel were different sizes. There was a butter yellow rolled up mat for the bottom of the shower/tub that I am certain had started its life clear and transparent. The air conditioner,that gave me hesitation from the outside, was indeed even worse on the inside. Though turned on its highest setting I'm certain that standing in front of my uncle Lester, as he belches in my face, would provide a cleaner and stronger breeze than was coming out of that AC unit. And one of the lights switches had black around its base like it survived a lightning strike, though I guess it is more likely to have been just some kind of short circuit. Overall, it just seemed as though travel lodge bought some seedy rundown motel that used to be rented by the hour by desperate and lonely people for their carnal pleasures. Then decided to add their signage and call it good! And they actually had the audacity to charge around $280 for the room! The audacity! We ended up staying at the best hotel down the road and it came to less money than that and was literally literally 1000 times better. I'm just going to end this on a good note as I said I would at the beginning... The gentleman that checked us in was very kind, polite and efficient.
