Horrible experience. I paid for a job in advance. They never finished it,damaged a door jamb then…read moretried to disrespect me when I told them to pay up. The weirdest part was where they threatened to "have kids taken away" and started dropping the N word when I got tired of the BS. Pathetic, incompetent, scammers who can't even handle simple jobs but sure do like to help themselves to tools and supplies that don't belong to them. Do yourself a favor and avoid these frauds

It started with a simple landscape job I needed done remotely, Michael and Nina were local to the…read morejob site. Michael knocked down some weeds in a field, about an hours worth of work with the right tools. He completed the work in short order. The second job was an interior demolition of a home we recently acquired that needs quite a bit of work. Again, Michael shows up and does satisfactory work filling the dumpster. At this point I'm interested to know if he can handle more work. He says he can. We talk and agree he will complete the renovation of the home just demolished. Sheetrock and new floors, new electrical and plumbing, paint, install new bathrooms and kitchen. Things started okay and I got to know them both better. And my intuition was telling me something was off. After the first two weeks of work the problems and delays started. This increased in frequency and severity over the next several weeks. So one day I show up unannounced. To discover no one is on site or has been for over a week. All his tools are gone and the job site is a mess. Debris and disorganized materials. The Sheetrock is not hung and the wiring is disconnected from the house. No wire to the power pole. Michael actually called me before I had the chance to call him. To ask for an advance. I didn't tell him where I was and asked him about the progress. He says the Sheetrock has been hung mudded and sanded, he has painted and a licensed electrician has inspected the wiring. I confronted him. He lied some more. Even promised to fix things. So I paid for a complete job, and got an uninhabitable home with no electricity. I have been looking over his work for th last two months and I should have let him go because of the low quality which he successfully hid with problems and delays, but the lying is unacceptable. Not worth my time. That's what I can't get back. Best three words to describe my frustration. Worst experience ever. Good luck if you decide to work with Michael.

I never know whether to trust rave reviews on Yelp, but in the case of Brian Ludlow, owner of…read moreLudlow's Handyman Services, the five star ratings are spot on accurate. I needed a mailbox installed and had tried for 3 months to schedule various handyman recommended by neighbors. I finally took things into my own hands and searched for a reputable and highly rated handyman on Yelp. There were several options to choose from, but I was immediately drawn to Brian's business because it is locally owned and operated by him. Plus, I really liked his bio. I could tell he was someone who enjoyed his work and was focused on high quality outcomes for customer projects. Brian did not disappoint. Every step of the process was a good one. My first point of contact was through Yelp messaging. That's when I first knew I was on the right track because Brian promptly replied. Moreover, his communication skills were excellent from the get-go. He was able to fit me into his schedule a few days after my request. He arrived on time prepared with what he needed to do the job. Everything went smoothly, especially because Brian and I had reviewed the installation instructions through photos I attached to our Yelp messages. He was able to acquire the remaining needed materials that I did not have on hand. Brian clearly knew what he was doing and got the mailbox installed without any problems. He charged a reasonable amount and was a pleasure to work with. I had a great customer experience. I already have other projects lined up for him. Living in a 200-year-old home is going to provide plenty of opportunities to call on Brian's experience and excellent problem-solving skills.

I needed a handyman to repair sections of 2 exterior door frames that had received damage during an…read moreunauthorized entry attempt at my apartment and I wanted to pass the move-out inspection and have my security deposit returned to me without any deductions. I have to say, my apartment isn't in the best shape; the foundation is uneven, the walls within are crumbling and everything is being held together by duct tape... Brownell was quick to contact me. When he called, he was very informative and professional. He had availability the next day, so I received a fair quote and decided to move forward. I booked him for the following week and felt a sigh of relief. The day before the appointment, he called to confirm and even texted the morning of at 7am to say he was en-route. At 8am, he was at my apartment with everything he needed. I quickly showed him my problem and figured he would just spackle the cracks in the door frame and call it quits. Instead, he removed the damaged boards from the back door and replaced them with new boards. He even purchased white boards to match my door, so I didn't have to paint the trim to match the door. This door had been kicked in so the lock mechanism was missing and only being secured with a latch lock. I didn't feel safe the whole time it was broke. He fixed the inside of the door jamb and I could lock it once again. A few minutes later, I had to run to the laundromat, so when I left he was removing the trim off the front door. He called when he was done and when I returned, the front door was fixed perfectly! Because, part of the door frames looked so new and I didn't want my landlord to know there had been damage, so I used a tea bag to stain it so it looked dirty and tattered like the rest of the door frame. (it worked!) I really appreciate being able to support a local minority business, especially during this time. But more importantly, I wanted a honest, qualified and reputable business and I got just that! I had previously dealt with a different handyman who scammed me and a well known construction company who didn't provide the best service because my request was too small so I received sub-standard results... So, going into this I was skeptical and praying for a legitimate handyman. He was exactly that! I've passed his business contact onto everyone in my local area.

Reliable and trustworthy. I have used Brownell for all repairs in my home for a couple years now…read more Very reasonable with prices.
