Very handy store that means if you are in need of an item, you can pop along and get it! The best thing though is that they have a post office inside! read more

I love this place. It's about as central as you can get - right opposite the Bank of England - and…read moreit's great to know there's some small and civilised antidote to the life-sapping Costa-fuelled soullessness of the commuter trudge. Should satisfy any discerning smoker's every need. It's a tiny little place but has a big stock, and the owner is really friendly and helpful. Everything from Indonesian clove cigarettes to Gitanes to snuff to cigar- and pipe-related stuff I know next to nothing about can be had. And they sell handy flip-top portable ashtrays with their name on them, which is dead convenient if you can't find any of those "gum and butts" things, which you don't want to go near anyway, if you can possibly help it. Go try.

Also it has a post office to the back of the shop which is very handy indeed. Because Good News is situated in the heart of Soho, where all of London's hippest fashion houses, production companies and media firms are generally based, it needs to offer it's clients something different. Sure, you can get the usual paper, a juice and a bag of crisps but I've never seen so many magazines. If your looking for fashion, music, business or art, they have every single commercial, weird and underground paper and magazine you can imagine and even stock some industry mags as well like Music Week for example. Although I don't work in Soho anymore, if I pass this shop, I always stop by and pick up a magazine I know I can't get anywhere else...

No to mention they stock a fantastic selection of international magazines and newspapers that one would often have trouble finding (especially American publications)! Definitely warrants a 5 star rating.

Everything is laid out in a logical order by genre and the staff are very knowledgeable and happy to help you find what you're looking for. They can even tell you release dates and preorder books for you. The kids section is great, they are happy for kids to have a look at a book before you buy it and I've never had any trouble returning unwanted presents. Prices aren't cheap, but you can't compare specialist book shops to supermarkets really.
