My son is 7 yrs old and his first year attending a summer camp. At the martial arts center he is with his age group (which I appreciate the separation amongst a large group with different ages, rather than everyone mixed together) with his group they get to enjoy field trips, fun activities, and many learning opportunities! He also gets to try out a martial arts class where he received his very own Gi and belt! That's pretty sweet if ya ask me! .... The communication between staff and parents has been superb and I honestly am pleasantly surprised with how organized everything has been! I will add, that prices are a little steep, BUT in all fairness you do get your moneys worth! And if summer camp isn't your style, the martial arts center also has an after school program! We are excited we joined the martial arts center and look forward to the rest of the summer!!! read more

I am appalled and shocked at the unprofessional behavior of "The Martial Arts Center" in Ocala Florida on Maricamp rd and I hope this post will help you save a lot of time, money, anguish and make a better choice when selecting a proper martial arts facility  for your children.  I have sacrificed a lot over several years to bring my children to "The Martial Arts Center." I am a single mother and first responder. As you can imagine being on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic has been challenging, in between emergencies and the longest hours any medical professional has ever worked. Despite all of this - I still managed to take my children to private classes that I was paying a lot of money for at "The Martial Arts Center."The teachers are teenagers and their behavior has always been quite unprofessional in several instances but I let it slide for some time... this incident puts the nail in the coffin!  For years my children have worked extremely hard, especially my son, towards "The Midnight Blue Belt". I got called to help The National Gaurd during the pandemic and my children missed 2 days due to this emergency.  To make up for the missed days, I even paid for private lessons because I didn't want my son to be denied the chance to test for the "The Midnight Blue Belt."  Even though I was told they could test after I paid for private lessons. Last minute after I paid - the teacher and owner said they changed their mind and said my children could not test. This is completely unprofessional. On top of that the teenage teachers screamed at my children and made them cry because they missed two classes. When I brought up the unprofessional and childish behavior to the owner Rene William's to give her a chance to rectify the situation- she failed to correct the situation and tried to get more money out of me.  This program is supposed to bring children up, not bring them down.  Over the years I have sacrificed to get my children to class, I also let all the price increases slide. Even though other (karate places are cheaper) I stuck it out here. But now I see I should have left sooner.  I am not the type to post reviews. I keep to myself because I am a very busy hard working medical professional, but dealing with the unprofessional behavior and price increases over the years I wouldn't give this place even a half a star. I hope my post helps parents make informed decision to choose, "Florida Martial Arts and Fitness Center," instead and have a better experience. read more

I'm so happy that we walked into the doors of MAC (The Martial Arts Center) almost a year ago. My son has made so much improvement, self confidence and better disciplined. The instructors have years of experience,knowledge and patience. All of the instructors work well with children,which is awesome. We absolutely LOVE Soo Bahk Do Academy, and Kyo Sa Nim Williams. Would highly recommend to anyone! I moved with my wife and children from Georgia a year ago. My daughter has always loved the martial arts so, we signed up for The Martial Arts Center. After a few weeks of attending- my daughters behavior started to change. She did not want to go there and this concerned me. My daughter was saying all of the boys would get several turns at least three times and then she would get called on. I thought maybe she was being sensitive because we just moved so I went to class to watch but, did not announce to the teachers whose father I was. I was very upset by what I observed. My daughter was completely left out and discriminated against. Each student would take their turn three to four times then they would let her practice. I immediately took her out after that lesson and I am glad to say she now goes to," Ocala Karate Dojo," and is much happier. I do NOT recommend having your children participate in a club that promotes discrimination. I believe all children deserve equal opportunities whether it's martial arts or education in engineering- girl or boy. Shame on, " The Martial Arts Center," for allowing this type of behavior to go on in 2020. read more

The Martial Arts Center is in the business of changing lives. My son was recently diagnosed with autism, and I can daily remember the first few times he willingly made eye contact with someone outside of our home. It happened at the MAC. He has become more calm, focused, and attentive. The instructors have given him amazing time, attention, and patience in making this happen. The MAC has also helped the rest of our family, from motivatation and support in goal setting to healthy eating challenges, to just welcoming and encouraging us, they have become a vital source of encouragement and support. Many places might teach self defense, but I could not imagine that the quality of the art, the sense of family, or the motivation to succeed being w part of any program as it is at the MAC. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone and suggest that you make the MAC AN ABSOLUTE PRIORITY in your family's life! read more
