Dr. Boone ought to stick with her attempts to be a book author. I was a patient of hers at one time and very disappointed. Her office manager is unfriendly. She has no bedside manner and frankly I second guess her judgment, diagnostic abilities, over emphasis on what turn out to be over testing or overkill in terms of cystoscopies, biopsies, and other procedures and practices which wound up being unnecessary. First of all, Yelp really blows for featuring only one star reviews for Dr Boone and ALL of her Five star reviews are in the "not recommended" section .. which you can still read, you just have to click on the link further down. My husband DJ previously wrote a review for Dr Boone which ended up and yelps trash heap. I think that's extremely unfair so I would just like to go on and reiterate all the great things that he said about her. She is still our physician and has been unfailingly helpful in our healthcare journey. On a side note, Urologic problems are NOT fun so make sure you take care of your plumbing properly. Don't ignore it, because if you ignore it long enough. It will go away and I don't mean in a good way either. I know that they say some of the best doctors are the ones that are weird and quirky...this woman is just a stone cold head case. I went to her a few years back after a recommendation from my OB/GYN. It's hard to find female urologists in Atlanta. We went through several tests and treatments until we found the one that worked! I was so excited to have found a solution to my problem, even though it took several months and lots of money. So, when the problem started coming back, I thought, well, I'll just go back to the same doctor that figured me out instead of wasting time starting over with someone new. She knows my story! So, I drove over an hour to her office for my appointment. Side note, the front office staff was very rude about all of the "RULES" of visiting the office like it was the White House or something. I assume that they are not at fault for being directed by their dictator...bless their hearts. When I got to see Dr. Boone (for all of five minutes), she treated me like a complete stranger and was extremely condescending throughout the entire conversation. Had zero memory of all of my past history, even when I respectfully reminded her of all that we did. She was just not having it. She wouldn't let me speak, she lectured me about anxiety issues (??), and did nothing to explain what she was doing or why it was necessary. I was then whisked away to make more appointments for more expensive tests without any sort of plan or explanation of procedures. Further, when I received a VERY HIGH doctors office visit bill and multiple LabCorp bills, I still never received any explanation or even results of those tests! DO NOT GO HERE. You will be treated poorly and forced to go through unnecessary steps to get to an 'answer', which will not be recorded or kept on any records. These conditions are hard enough as it is, and it's even worse when your doctor just does not care. She may have been great at one point, but that is no longer the case and it's really a shame. I was sick and in need of a urologist now. I had been going to a medium sized practice in North Fulton for years having had 12 episodes of kidney stones and suffering the normal urinary issues a 59 year old male seems to develop. I called and found, to my chagrin, that the 6 doctor practice had now changed its name and was swallowed up by a huge, monster of a urological practice that did not even know my name after 14 years and dozens of visits. They calmly informed me I would have to wait over a month and they did not care one iota that I had not been able to urinate properly for weeks with almost not a drop for days. I was sick and hurting so much I could barely walk. I called my primary care doctor who gave me the name of Marta B. Boone, MD. I was freaked out having never seen a female urologist and having never been a patient of hers before, figured there was no chance of seeing her. After I got over the stupid male/female deal, I called and much to my surprise, I got an appointment right away. Before I went to see Dr. Boone, I read all the reviews I could find and found out on Yelp that she did not want patients wearing all kinds of funky musk oils and over bearing perfumes and colognes. After living through three elderly aunts and a 90 year old mother wearing 2 quarts of different types of perfume in the back of a Lincoln Town car on the way to church on Easter Sunday, I said thank god, somebody who thinks like I do. I read all the silly reviews from other patients, typing in a perfume induced coma, complaining about Dr. Boone not liking their expensive toilet water and just knew right then and there, this was my doctor. I showered using Irish Spring, shaved and used deodorant before coming to Dr. Boone and she said not a word. She just doesn't want you coming in to her office smelling like a French whore house, so don't. That simple. As it turned out, my bladder was about to rupture and I had retained 2 liters of urine. She looked at me squarely in the eye while telling me to go directly to the hospital and don't stop at go, don't go to jail, just meet her at the hospital. Now, she had never met me before. She surely had a full day planned as her waiting room was very busy. By the way, she did not make me wait at all like some self-absorbed Doctors do. Her office staff is just a frigging outstanding as she is and they run a tight ship and schedule. I have got right in every time I go. And you can get an appointment the same day, when needed. Use the awesome web portal which is updated with all your info right after you are finished. Now try and get that service at that over booked, self-righteous, huge, massive North Fulton place! You can avail yourself of all services right from you cell phone. So anyway, we meet in the hospital for a little knife action and she is the best surgeon I have ever had in my Netherlands. I am guessing the best person to be operating on my most private of possessions is a female urologist, not a rough old ,aging, uncaring doctor. The best part of the whole interaction with Dr. Boone is the aftercare. Show me a Dr. that stays as long as you need to help you understand what is happening to you. Show me a Dr. that looks you squarely in the eye every time they speak to you. Show me a Dr. that doesn't hide their face behind a medical chart while talking to you. Show me a Dr. who radiates care and compassion in every interaction they have with you and show me a Dr. that hugs a sweaty, blubbering 59 year old man crying like a baby when he realizes that after a lifetime of not taking care of himself, the grim reaper might just be swinging his scythe at the very core of his existence. If you show me that Doctor, that means that you have made it to see Dr. Boone and you are in the best hands available in Atlanta dealing with urology and that is exactly where you need to be. She is beyond awesome and no, she is not my sister, my aunt or my friend. She is just my Doctor, for life. Do not pay attention to that silliness on Yelp. I first met Dr. Boone with a handful of test results I had received from another doctor that left me stunned and confused. She took me into her office and carefully went over each test, explained the results, gave me referral to a doctor and told me in what order to proceed. I am sure this put her behind schedule, but I did exactly what she said, I have been her patient for many years since then, and she never fails to look me in the face and clearly explain what is going on and my choices. I have been a patient of Dr. Boone for 18 years and she has is by far the most thorough urologist in the field. I started seeing her when I was a teenager and 18 years later, she is the only urologist I would want to see. Dr. Boone listens attentively and takes time to make sure her patients feel heard. I suffered with kidney stones and IC for years and she was the only doctor that was really invested in my healing. Aside from being a wonderful and very competent doctor, she is an amazing person. Just like the other person posted..I came in with no lotions, gels, hair product or perfume. The medical assistant accused me of having on a perfume. Dr. Boone is a great physician and professional. I have spent 20 years working directly and indirectly with clinicians and hospital systems. She is, indeed, a "Top Doc." I have found her to be straight forward and detail oriented - I had a legitimate Urological scare and she quickly diagnosed my situation and went to work on guiding me to the best course of action. This is the rudest person I have ever met! I went into her office freshly showered (unscented soap), no make up, no fragrance,...NOTHING. She hesitated to walk in the room saying she could smell my fragrance. That was BS! As a new patient, she never introduced herself, was unfriendly and barely spent 2 minutes with me. She ordered tests without explanation then had her assistant fill in the details. I was taken aback. At check out I was told I had to pay upfront which I had NEVER heard of before. Then tests were scheduled and I was given the prep for it. I was just horrified by this experience. As soon as I left I knew I would never return and called to cancel any and all appts/tests. I called my primary and gyno Drs for a referral and was told to stay clear of her. TOO LATE!! Her reputation is known around town apparently! I went to another urologist that confirmed I did not need anything she wanted me to do. He treated me with respect and following his treatment plan was the way to go. NOT what she wanted by jacking up my bill for things I didn't need. After all that,......I received my statement from my insurance company with current charges and payments. They paid Dr Boone for services she DID NOT RENDER. She submitted charges to my insurance company that I did not incur! I was mortified and called the office immediately! The office said that they DID NOT charge me those things nor did they get paid for them. I called Medicare and they said that was a LIE!! Not only did the office submit those charges but they got paid too!! I reported that to my insurance company and they investigated. My insurance company was reimbursed by that Boone office. Horrible experience!!! Please beware. I was recommended by my OB office. I scheduled appointment (soonest 4 weeks). Dr. B examined me, her staff scheduled appointment for CT scan on the following Monday - Wednesday to see her again for cystoscopy. The doctor's office failed to get CT report before my appt- I called- they faxed over to Dr. B's office that afternoon. I called the next day - office mgr told me Dr. B would call by 5:00 - I did not leave my office. The reason why I waited by phone till 5:15... my father died of bladder cancer January 2008. I was referred by my OB based on lab results from my annual and some ongoing issues. I remember calling this doctor once before bc the name sounded familiar but didn't really think twice about it when I called to set up a new appointment I was placed on hold after they took my name down. When the lady came back on the line, her entire tone changed and i was told I had to pay $125 to get an appointment. I was read off 2 different dates from June of 2015(1.5years ago) and was genuinely confused because I've never been to this office before and had no recollection. When I expressed my confusion I was read off my stats like I was on an episode of CSI and had been caught lying to the police and was trying to pull a fast one on them to get an appointment. They apparently waved my first fee of $125 when I was supposedly 45 mins late (again have never been here) and now they HAVE to charge me $125 for the second appointment that I supposedly had when I was out of the country(I would have never scheduled anything on that date). I get time is money and they have their policies but this is a doctors office and there are many other urologists in Atlanta. I wasn't calling to scapegoat the system and get into see the doctor having full knowledge of the above situation. I was just confused because I've never been here and was trying to remember what happened last June. when someone is confused about a situation that occurred 1.5 years ago maybe take a step back and not treat the situation like the patient is trying to master manipulate their way into this precious office by trying to get out of their fee. Dr. Boone has asthma, and is allergic to any perfumes. Being told this on multiple occasions, I came into the office with no hair products, no makeup, no perfume, and because I have a skin condition myself, I can only use the mildest soaps (no fragrance), Dreft detergent without dyes, and I make my own shampoo and conditioner with honey and oat milk--I totally understand allergies, triggers and reactions. This being said, the nurse even took the precaution of putting a plastic bag over my purse, and I also suggested she could take it out of the room to keep at the front desk. (She did not) The dr came in and spoke with me--said nothing about smelling a fragrance--and moved me to the ultrasound room. Again, nothing said about her allergies bothering her. I had a pelvic exam and an ultrasound performed by a technician. Again, during my exam, said NOTHING about a fragrance bothering her.... When I called about my appointment, which I was very anxious about, I asked the receptionist If there would be any invasive procedures done at this visit, and I was told no. This came as a HUGE relief to me, as I was terrified that I might need a cystoscopy, and I was relieved when I was told I'd not have one. After the exam and ultrasound, a different nurse walked in, handed me a pre printed pamphlet to take probiotics and cranberry supplements. (IF I Had BEEN ASKED what medications I take, they would have known I already take this!!) I was told to go check out. I was confused and said I would like to speak to the doctor--was told she could call me on my phone, but not come in the room--again the Dr NEVER said "hey! I smell something and it is triggering me"....dr Boone called me on my cell phone and I asked what her findings were. I did mention that I was a bit confused bc when I made the appointment and when I checked in, I was told I'd be having a kidney ultrasound. She then became very hostile, saying I was trying to tell her what to do, that "YOUR DR DOES NOT Have THE CONTINUED EDUCATION I HAVE"... I asked her about the possible contaminant that has been found twice on cultures, after 2 courses of antibiotics, again, she totally flew off the handle and said I was asking for an invasive procedure... I said, I'd rather NOT have this procedure, I was simply asking if it was necessary at this point. She wasn't even going to tell me anything had I not asked the nurse to have her Speak to me...am I wrong for wanting to know the findings of an exam? I was shocked at the lack of proffessionalism, the defensive attitude when I asked what she thought the issue may be ...my records were faxed to the office long before I came here, from my GP...if she had reviewed those, instead of just reading notes from an ER visit that she can access more easily,perhaps she would have had a better understanding of why I was there. To top it off, when I was at check out, I was told "we called your prescription in"... I wasn't told I needed any antibiotics by the Dr! I'm also resistant to many antibiotics, so had she again, taken the time to speak to me about it, I believe she might have had a better understanding of why I was there. Bottom line is, if she was offended or aggravated by anything, including any scents, speak up! Don't leave a patient whose life has been hell for over a month hanging, or fail to ask important questions pertaining to my CURRENT treatment. I regret not listening to other reviews about this provider and would not recommend coming here. Unfortunately there just aren't many female urologists. Update: Office doesn't return phone calls, yet on their "web portal" has yet another finding I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF AT MY APPOINTMENT. My medications and medical history are incorrect online, she wrote something about me being upset at the appointment (because that pertains to my condition how? I have anxiety when someone I don't know puts me in stirrups, and you know, what comes next...I mean, is anyone else jumping for joy in that position? I was also in a great deal of pain...) and I don't operate through "web portals" that don't offer you the ability to submit questions, (tried from 3 different computers), or the opportunity to speak to someone on the phone if you have questions regarding your health. Dr. Boone is a wonderful, caring doctor. Her bedside manner is greatly appreciated. Her staff is helpful and her medical assistant is amazing! Dr. Boone has allergies and asthma which is set off by certain perfumes, lotions, etc. The office is very upfront about this and will remind you multiple times before your appointment not to wet any scents. I have no problem with that. I'd prefer not to make my doctor have an asthmatic attack! If you're looking for a great urologist, I highly suggest Dr. Boone!! read more

Stay away. This is the rudest doctor I have ever encountered and she didn't even fix my problem. She just ordered A LOT of images and tests and then performed a procedure that only made matters worse (to the point of a hospitalization for complications). I had to go to another urologist to have what she did corrected, receive a correct diagnosis (based on the images she ordered... so she completely missed what was wrong), and then to have the surgery I actually needed. I am recovered now and my problem is corrected. Seeing her first was a total waste of time and money and resulted in unnecessary time spent in pain and feeling frustrated. I can't change what I went through, but maybe I can help others steer clear of a rotten experience. read more

Rather than prescribe a pill and send me on my way, she conducted tests to get to the root of my problem. Instrumental in diagnosing and treating my bladder cancer early and successfully! Dr. Boone listened carefully, took my intuition seriously, and together we found it...two tumors...BEFORE they invaded the bladder wall...Thanks to her skilled expertise and talented surgery I am now 1.5 years CANCER FREE and doing great! There really aren't enough positive things to say about this rare female urologist and her special team. Each staff member is warm, caring, compassionate and dedicated. When I moved out of state I started my follow-up cancer care at MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando, but the attention to detail and follow-up care was just not as good for what I needed... so...I am now one of-- "the travelers!"---flying in to see Dr. Boone in Atlanta for my regular cancer scopes...Can't really write a better endorsement than that! I am really sorry to see some of the reviews here. I had a very different experience. I was referred to dr Boone last year. I made an appointment with ease and and arrived for their first appointment of the day. After a few minutes in the waiting room I was taken back and a nurse went through my history and I had a bladder ultrasound Dr Boone came in and asked me some more questions and did a kidney ultrasound and exam. She explained what she saw and told me I needed to get a cat scan to further evaluate me. I made another appt with her to have a procedure As most people are I was very nervous and her nurse was wonderful in explaining the procedure. Dr Boone did the procedure with no discomfort and explained everything along the way. Before I left she explained my results and ways to control the problem. I had come armed with a list of questions and asked her if she minded me going through them now. She was more than happy to answer them and offer suggestions as well. I followed up in in the time frame recommended and had an X-ray done beforehand. She explained what she saw while we both looked at it and again offered advice and recommendations. She sent out some lab work as well. When that came back her nurse called me to tell me I needed a prescription. They asked me if I had ever taken that particular one and didn't think I ever had. I had a negative reaction to it and contacted them through the patience portal and they responded within a very short time and said they would call in something else that worked much better without the side effects. Every time I asked a question through the portal they responded back shortly. I've been to some doctors that may take days to get back with you. I needed a prescription today and once again I went through the portal and her nurse responded within a few minutes. She called in one and explained how to take it. She was so nice and caring. Her whole staff is always pleasant and always seem to care when I've been there. I think dr Boone is great and will continue to go there if or when I need to. I also work in a doctor's office and that can be challenging some days. Thanks to Dr. Boone and her staff for a job well done. read more
