I couldn't decide whether it deserved two or three stars. I applaud any organization committed to finding homes for stray and abandoned animals. Those places and people deserve all the accolades they can get. But my one visit here, the Pet Hotel where the adoptable cats are kept until the new shelter is built, pretty much turned me off for wanting to linger. And that's disappointing. The front room of the small building has a few cages made of wood and chicken wire mesh. It was depressing. I hope Marshfield Pet Shelter gets their new home soon. The man working the day I was there didn't exactly give off warm and friendly vibes, and when he asked what a wanted, made it sound like I'd interrupted him from some more important job. Granted, I stopped in about 15 minutes before they closed, but I could still feel the icicles. On the other hand, once he realized I wasn't going anywhere and that I just wanted to see the adoptable animals, he said what he needed to say about them, the adoption process, how many had already been adopted and possible health issues for those cats still remaining. Although he never really warmed up, he was efficient and didn't spend time small-talking. I can appreciate that. (The man working in the buildings behind the shelter, though, could use a lesson in polite discourse -- yikes.) This isn't a place I'm likely to visit again, at least not until there's a new shelter, hopefully staffed by those a little more people-focused, but I still appreciate the mission.

Her kennel was filled with wood shavings that had further entered this wound. The owners won't hesitate to take your money but they won't watch your pet. Judging by the size and necrotic tissue within the wound she'd had it for multiple days at this place. At no point did this place think about calling a vet, cleaning the wound, or at least notifying us. I'm now one week into the wound care that resulted from this place...she is on antibiotics for another two weeks. She's had multiple visits. Everyday her wound must be cleaned and bandaged. Do not take your pet here. She should be enjoying her summer. Instead she can barely walk. When I called to notify them how bad the wound was they expressed no concern or remorse. This place should be investigated.
