Let me start with...I appreciate all museums! I was excited to visit a local museum here in Coos…read moreBay. Parking is free and easy. We surprisingly came on a free day. Normally admission is $7 for adults. The lady at the front counter was so friendly. I started by going upstairs where they were having a small craft show. Meet some lovely people with amazing skills. Spoke with each vendor about their art pieces and even bought a few items for Christmas gifts. We then walked around the couple spaces upstairs with exhibits. The upstairs building itself is beautiful. Arched ceiling and old doors. The art on display was a variety of local artists and different styles. We then went downstairs to see a rescheduling art display. I appreciated the beadwork and PNW themed creations. In total, we were there for less than an hour. There's not a lot to see but what was there was nice. They have a good size gift shop but minimal things to purchase. Seems like a missed opportunity. I feel there should be some local artist items as well as Coos Bay trinkets that support local artists talents. I'm sure there are locals who would give a portion of their sales to the museum. Maybe rotate vendors quarterly? I don't know. I just know there wasn't much to purchase or show interest in supporting the museum. All in all it was a nice visit. T thought I took more photos but I guess I was just living in the moment :}

this is an absolutely belated review (i visited this past summer), but from time to time I'll think…read moreback on my hike here: wow is an understatement. to visit south slough is to truly pause and appreciate our delicate ecosystems. such tranquility, much needed solace. the salty air literally invites a few deep breaths. i imagine mary oliver often watches in awe from above. south slough is a gem, and i was impressed by just how maintained the reserve is kept. it definitely is worth the drive here, but just know that the drive can be a little bumpy and windy, if you get car sick easily like me. once you're here, there's several trail options.

They allow dogs on the trail as long as they're leash and you clean up after them so regular rolls in my opinion. It's a great place to hike with your dog. The trails are decently maintained they are easy to follow and the signage is really clear. I've wandered many trails one that hook up and Link into another trial and one that I've made a choice to walk down a different path and no matter how long I've walked and how many different trails I've taken we've never got lost. It's a great place to grow mushroom hunting as well. I've never run into any problems with trickers or transients. Every trial we've ever taken has led to a positive outcome. I probably spent 15 hours hiking here with my dog and her friends. It's free and not too far away from whiskey run if you want to hit the beach. I don't know anything about The interpreter center or classes they offer here because I have never been here without my pup.

It started with Brandy who took our reservation. Extremely nice and gave us some great tips about the area. We were visiting for the first time. It was a total chill experience. Easy to go down the elevator and hit the casino. We went to a Billy Nation concert at the casino. They are a cover band for Billy Joel. The guy sounded better than Billy Joel! Ate at the Timber restaurant three times for breakfast and it was very good. Clean place. Pool is really nice and has two hot tubs. There is a walkway out the back door with a beautiful view of the water. I got my steps in walking down the promenade. Joe, the guy who maintains the lobby is a hell of a nice guy. Always had a "Hi Mike" to me and asked if I needed anything. Joe is extremely proud of his job and had nothing but good things to say about his employment there. 19 years and the guy is still happy going to work. That's the kind of stuff that makes me feel good about people. Great guy. Laura who works in housekeeping took care of us. She knows her job and isn't afraid to step in and help. Great work ethic.
