Walmart runs a very disingenuous operation, and that is a very generous statement. When one…read moresearches for an item of interest online, one is typically presented with the item at a price that is frequently attractive and competitive with other online retailers, and one in particular that needs not any mention. A number of options are available for delivery and local pickup. Typically, the price is displayed prominently, in bold, with a higher price crossed out, as if to indicate a discount. Somewhere below this discounted price is the disclaimer "Price when purchased online." While, on the face of it, this may appear to be a perfectly reasonable proposition from a legalistic, pragmatic perspective, it is a rather deceptive practice that attempts to allow Walmart to compete with certain other online retailers that operate under a completely different business model. The issue is a type of bate and switch in that one is enticed by the attractive price advertised, and thereby encouraged to buy the item from Walmart. As Walmart's primary value proposition is the ability to shop locally and purchase and enjoy the item that same day, the problem arises when such a desire is pursued by the customer. When attempting to purchase the item locally at the advertised price, the customer is then informed that the discounted price is only available when purchased online - which, to be fair is stated on the item's web page - however, one cannot simply then purchase the item online and pick it up right there at the store. No. It must be shipped to the customer's residence. It cannot even be shipped to the store for pickup at a later date. This is what me and my wife have been told on more than one occasion. Is this the true policy? I don't really know. So, in this scenario, we recently desired an item and went to the local store to purchase it. Of course, we were told that we could not purchase the item at the advertised price at the store, and would need to purchase the item online to enjoy the offered $30 savings. So, of course, we left the store and purchased the item from everyone's major competitor and received it two days later. This practice of Walmart is unfair and very deceptive. While it is understandable that they would want to compete directly with this other online retailer, it is not at all acceptable that they should do so under the same brick-and-morter name and business model. If they want to establish an online presence as a retailer operating as a remote seller and shipper, then they should do so under a distinctly and easily identifiable business domain separate from their physical, geographic business persona. Under their current policies and procedures, they are unfairly presenting an alleged advantage to the Walmart shopping experience that really doesn't exist. The crux of the issue lies in the customer's inability to purchase said item at the discounted price without doing so in a remote, ship-to fashion - even after driving to the store and expending time, gasoline and stomach acid. This is not only incredibly stupid, but detrimental to Walmart's profitability and investor commitment as a conventional retailer ostensibly servicing the real, UNvirtual purchasing public. I believe this to be an unlawful practice and I fully intend to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission citing Walmart as a false advertiser and practicer of deceptive and unfair business practices.

Another stop during my rainy stay at the beach…read more This has all the stuff Ross normally has, but certain items stood out in greater number (like similar stores nearby) as stock geared toward rental home needs, vacationer needs, and seashore needs. For example, they had a bunch of small coolers (for bait or small catches), or for taking something to the beach. Useful, for sure. I didn't need it for those puposes, but I still bought two smaller sizes so I could keep frozen groceries in it when I trek out to do a million errands, and need to keep stuff cold while I make the rounds. It was a great deal, and will definitely work at the beach for me as a secondary use. This Ross was much better kept than the one I last visited in Key West a year ago (there aren't many near my home). It was well lit, clean, interior felt newish, merch was attractively presented, well stocked, and easy to navigate. In addition to the coolers, I had to get a Lacoste alligator towel! Straight out of The Preppy Handbook (yes, that's a real book). It was so 80s and too funny, I had to get one in blue. It's going to be my son's beach towel! I was surprised Ross had a deal with Lacoste because this was not a knockoff, the label legit says Lacoste. They also had weed socks and all kinds of crazy stuff in the Young Mens' section. This is the first time I've seen such stuff in such a large box chain store. I mean, Spencer Gifts, sure, but Ross? Staff was friendly, but while multiple associates were on the floor, only one register was open, which created a line, and was unnecessary. So they lose a star there. I had fun looking around but wish I had more time. I left happy with my deals, and wishing they had a store closer to me!

I did pick up a few other things as They have a large selection of items They must have a large theft number there as the fitting room attendant wanted to see how big my backpack purse was. She wanted me to hang all the clothes before she counted and gave me a number. I'll be back as they have a large selection

This is the smallest Burlington I have ever been in…read more It is organized, sometimes a little over filled racks, but well managed. I have gone in not really with a set thing in mind but just to look and have come out with something that either smelt great, looked delicious or found something super functional for my space. Some items are a bit pricy for the genre of store but I just move on down the rack. Customer service is pretty good too. Have not run into an unhelpful employee yet.

They should really be educated before working. It has the usual Dollar Tree sections including candy, greeting cards (some are TWO for a dollar!), kitchenware, books, personal care, toys, school supplies, party supplies, and even some food and drink. No returns whatsoever. Yet, there are rules. If you wish to exchange your items, you must exchange them for something else in the store on the same day. Or within 30 days of the original purchase of the items you want to take back. Because they will NOT administer a gift card, I find this very shady business. Especially since nowhere inside their stores does it state this policy. This policy is only displayed on their receipt AFTER YOU ALREADY PURCHASED something! Also, to add to this issue, inform the manager at the Rio Grande, NJ store; that I wasn't aware of this, I didn't see any signage. Also, when I was purchasing the 20 different baskets to see which would fit best in my laundry room to organize cleaning products on the shelves, the cashier even mentioned, "Wow, you sure have ALOT of baskets." then I replied to her - "I'm looking for the right baskets to fit on my shelves in my laundry room, so I figured I'd buy all the ones I'd like to try and return the ones that don't fit. I'm sure you'll see me again this week." I'm an Interior Designer, and this is how I save time to see what works in the space and what doesn't. It boggles my mind, but she wouldn't have mentioned this policy when we had this conversation. I said this to the Rio Grande manager, and she informed me that the Cashiers are not required to mention any of the exchange policies for Dollar Tree to customers during transactions... WHAT?!? If that's not a shady business, I don't know what is.
