Our son has been there since he was five months old, and is thriving in the preschool prep. The school itself is sun-filled, clean, and meticulously planned. There's a gym that they use for all kinds of activities, from yoga to riding trikes in doors on cold days. The playground is lovely and the kids are encouraged to play and get dirty. We get lots of updates and pictures throughout the day. The director is active, communicative, and transparent. You can tell the team loves each other, and all the children. Obviously there will be turnover every now and then, that's the nature of early childhood education and having a young staff, but much of the staff has been there the entire three and a half years we've attended. All the food is organic and offers many allergy-friendly options. There's music classes and STEM enrichments. Every day seems like the best day ever -- art, singing, sooo many activities. They do lots of little performances and parent-involved events, and you really do build a community of families. There's a reason there's a waitlist -- once you go Kensington, there's no going back.

As someone who was bullied numerous time, the school didn't cared even though my parents emailed them. It got to the point when my parents called the bullies parents. But that's not it, my parents paid extra for a social worker outside of school even though it could've been cheaper if they had it at school. IEP accommodation and speech therapy didn't work well because they would pull students like me outside of class and this caused me to miss more school stuff.

Now, that could've been a good thing or a bad thing depending on why they knew their names,... but mostly it was good ;) If you went to school there your parents were investing in you and it's probably one of the best investments they could have made, because not only was it a college-prep school, but they prepared you for life. When I went there in the 80's, it was not Joliet Catholic Academy, it was St Francis Academy and only girls attended. Well, that's not exactly true. lol, In the mornings, the boys came over from Joliet Catholic for band, and for 2 weeks, during Mardi Gras, we attended classes at the boys' school....and let me tell you, those 2 weeks were the best out of the whole year! Not only did we get to go to school with the boys, but we didn't have to wear our uniforms. Jeans & T-shirts, Jeans & Sweaters, and Jeans & Sneakers! it was awesome! :) The rest of the year was great as well. We could leave the campus for lunch, study outside on the lawn, and once our last class was over, we could go home. During my sophomore year I left at lunch-time every day. In the morning, the entire school smelled so delicious!! In the cafeteria, they made these Ginormous, soft, gooey, chocolate chip cookies that you could buy just as they came out of the oven,.. and for only10 cents. I hated,... no,... disliked strongly, History, but my teacher was Ms. Rosella Mae-Warner and she was fabulous. ( and yes, she knew my Dad's 1rst name lol ) That woman was an absolute gift from God. I could always go to her for help on any topic, including problems at home or with, dare I say it,...Boys. I think out of all the teachers I ever had, including in college, she was/is my most favorite. I hope she knows how much of a difference she made in my life. I wish I would have told her how much I loved her, but kids don't think like that until they're not kids any more. Sister Katherine was my Religion teacher and she was a great teacher as well. She made learning about Christ and the Bible interesting, and for that, I thank her. If more kids had religion as part of their lives, we wouldn't have near the problem we have with the youth of today. What happened to respect and honor? I'll tell you. Back then Nuns still taught and they would grab you by the ear and drag you to the Deans office if you committed an offence that warranted such an action. Really though, not everything you heard about nuns or catholic school girls is true, but that part is. lol Our Dean was Mr. Russell ( he, too, knew my father's name and phone number lol ) and he was kind and fair. I'll always remember him and I'll always be thankful for the guidance he provided. I could probably go on and on, but believe me when I say " The education I received was superior and I'm certain that, even though the school has a different name, any child ( boy or girl ) that attends will be well prepared for college and have a great foundation for life."

All three of my children attended St. John's. I cannot say enough positive things about their…read moreexperience! They made friendships that they still maintain years after graduation. They were taught by kind, loving, knowledgeable teachers. They were well prepared for high school and college. They learned valuable life lessons like service and prayer and mentorship. And I found a community of parents who are friends. So very grateful for this school.

1. Refuses to accommodate/assist a homebound child with Drivers Education since 2024 to date…read more Grievance forms were denied by Superintendent. Would like to know if others with IEP's &/or on homebound &/or disabled are able to obtain assistance & accommodations from this school district or if this student/family are being singled out. Student qualified for Driver's Ed in 2024 relating to credits. 2. Refused to provide a live teacher for online class curriculum through Edgenuity when inquired about only to change the online class curriculum to Subject.com the following year which has NO ability for a live online teacher. 3. These are some instances but not all inclusive. The drivers educations accommodation assistance aspect is contributing negatively to child's online class performance. 4. These aspects appear to violate the Mission & Vision of Community Unit School District 200: "Mission In CUSD 200, our mission is to inspire, educate, challenge, and support all students to reach their highest level of learning and personal development." "Vision We are an exemplary, student-focused school district that is highly regarded for the competence and character of our students and the excellence of our people, programs and learning environment." 5. Executive Director for Special Education has not been assistive in any accommodations either even with ISBE providing family with information for them. 6. "The district follows state and federal requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), ensuring each eligible student receives an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that outlines supplemental services, accommodations, modifications, and supports" This appears NOT to be occurring when child has been on homebound for years which in itself, constitutes a disability. 7. Student was getting "A" grades basically before enrolling in Community Unit School District 200. Since enrolled, grades have diminished to a Sophomore level due to Driver's Ed. 8. Nothing is meant to be accusatory, false, misconstrued, misinformation, misleading, et. al.
