From the start, she was very good to suggest all the styles and poses to make us look better! :-) She took plenty of time to take various photos at several locations on the beach and rainbows in the background. It was truly a magical experience! During our entire photoshoot, there was NEVER a moment where we felt that she was rushing into things. Carly did the engagement photos and she and her husband shot the wedding in 2010…read more She trooped out into the snow for the engagement photos at the insistence of the stubborn man I was with and she was pleasant and delightful as ever, even though she had to get a ride from her dad due to her car not being road worthy due to the snow. For the wedding, they showed up early and took many pictures. We had a few pictures in mind that we wanted and due to me having bronchitis for the month before the wedding, I hadn't planned beyond that. Carly took over for managing the location of the pictures and getting people to cooperate. The only cons were that there were serious, special moments not captured on film that I feel should have been along with a poor choice for a background for the group photos. However, we didn't give her much direction and the family on both sides weren't cooperating with the pictures, so she did a pretty great job all things considered. I would definitely recommend her to anyone for their family or wedding pictures.

So, I knew it was critical to find a photographer who would be a good match and one who's photography style we'd love. A colleague of mine worked with Jen on her wedding in 2004. And, when her pictures came back and she shared them - I just fell in love with the way her beautiful day was shot. The photos told a story from the very beginning of her day to the ceremony and the reception. Jen's work is emotive, warm and unexpected (she leverages the environment to get amazing and delightful shots). She also carefully and appropriately balances black & white with color shots. Jen captured the spirit of our Christmas wedding. It was exactly what we wanted for our wedding photos! Photography style is one aspect of hiring a photographer. The other that ended up being one of the best aspects of what Jen offers is partnership. She is prompt, professional and will go above and beyond what you'd expect as a client. What I didn't realize is that our partnership extended beyond our wedding day. You spend another two to four months working and communicating with your photographer after the wedding; finalizing select shots, album (if part of your contract) and final slideshow. Sara and Ryan are really great photographers!! We've had them over twice now to photograph our baby…read moreand we're so thrilled with the outcome. They are really great at capturing all kinds of funny expressions, they have two cameras going and keep snapping shots. Also, they are great people! Easy to communicate with, very creative and nice so it's easy for everyone to get comfortable around them, including the subjects (or objects) being photographed. We also got a couple of shots of our dogs, which are awesome.... It is really hard to get professional shots of animals because where do you take them? Not to the mall photographer.... to the Petsmart photo day? I don't think so .... So Sara and Ryan are also great if you want professional shots of your pets.... since they are nice and trustworthy, the animal get comfortable around them really fast so the photos come out great! I'll be uploading a couple to show you what I mean :) Anyway! My now wife and I are originally from back east, and never really felt at home in the O.C. The vibe out there is, well...not for us. When we started searching for our photographer, we came across many high-end companies dropping names and peddling their celebrity wedding shots. This was the exact opposite of what we wanted for our small, intimate event. We finally stumbled across www.saraplusryan.com (our photos are posted on their blog) and knew instantly they would get it. And us. We video chatted one time, had dinner another, and it was settled. On the big day, they arrived early and made us feel at ease while we got ready. We had a "first look" session before the ceremony that, to my surprise, wasn't awkward AT ALL. I was worried we'd look stiff and posed, but these two make you feel so comfortable you forget all that and just enjoy the moment with your partner. They flew through the obligatory (read: boring) family portraits in no time, which we personally appreciated. Though I'm sure they'd tailor time spent on certain shots to whatever the couple wanted. During the ceremony, they captured so many emotions in such unique ways. And at the reception, you literally don't realize they're even there. This made for incredibly candid, genuine shots of many intimate moments with our families and friends. After the toast, it was time for them to go. I almost asked them to stay for dinner, at least the 1st course! We received our photos in no time (2 weeks, maybe) via an email system that was very convenient to download, order prints and share with others. Going through them the first time, we were floored. Their style is one of photojournalism- capturing moments as they arise with unique perspectives and small, creative touches that make it seem like you're there when it's happening. We initially chose Jenny for our wedding photos because stylistically she leans towards more true-to-life/documentary photos. We wanted to capture all of the true memories of our day. Jenny and Kelly captured so many great moments that were posed and candid. I fell in love their work through various wedding blogs, and hired them to shoot our wedding that took place in August 2009. Dorothee shot our wedding and I can't believe how amazing out pictures are. Somehow she was able to be everywhere at once! My husband and I agreed that on the day of she was the perfect amount of "present" (guiding people, getting people together for group shots without being pushy, somehow always there the exact second I needed to talk to her) and "invisible" (she got a ton of great candid shots.) While she is only in Seattle part time, she still makes herself really available to answer questions, and is proactive about showing samples and figuring things out. Not only is she a fantastic photographer, but she's really sweet also. Just the sort of person you would want at your wedding.
