I did find the checkout area to be a little tight, compact and messy, although the staff did seem pretty friendly. The Scan and Go app where the customer can use their phone to scan and bag their shopping as they shop around the store, and then pay, seemed to work well here. The staff around the store seemed friendly and helped me find a reusable bag when required. I do find the opening hours of the store to be very limited, especially considering, the branch is not located inside a physical shopping centre (It is located opposite the shopping mall), so the fact they close at 17:30 during the week is very disappointing, this is even earlier than Sainsbury's! The facilities inside the store are again limited compared to larger towns/cities, with no car parking or toilets. 3* - A nice store for a small town like Doncaster, yet not without its' flaws.

They've got a lovely selection of food on the ground floor and although it is rather pricey the food is lovely and it's pretty-much the only 'upmarket' supermarket in Doncaster. One of these shops where the staff really do seem to be interested and care about helping you - my 5* rating is based on that more than anything else. I was looking for something in a different size recently, and rather than the usual 'everything we've got is out' that you get in most places, 2 people bent over backwards to find me something else suitable - you don't get that sort of attention every day!

They offer a small selection of the usual sandwiches, pops, salads, pastys, etc. And they also offer the usual selection of tinned goods for you and toiletries. Basicly they offer most of what you would need in limited supply and choice. The prices arent the cheapest but they arent too bad. They have a small bakery which is useful too and a small fishmonger who is happy to advise you on what to choose. There is also a small deli for your meats. The store is nice and clean and usually well stocked but they do seem to short of staff so sometimes you do have to ask for goods if they arent out. The staff are usually nice and friendly but as they dont have much staff they are usually too busy.

They dont have a big selection of clothes but they do have an aisle full. They also sell books, a few toys/ games and homeware. Theres never a problem finding a baby trolley here either. Having now lived in Headingley for a few years I used to visit Sainsburys for my weekly shop, even…read morebefore it was a Sainsburys - when it was Somerfield. Essentially, there isn't a great deal of difference between the two companies in terms of my weekly shop. There are a few items that were most definitely cheaper when it was a Somerfield - smoked mackerel, some of the fruit and veg items etc - but there are some Sainsburys features that were not there and are quite good. One of those is the 'feed your family for a fiver' leaflets, which are really quite useful! I picked up one for lamb pitas, which is really good. It's cheap, tasty, different and of course I've embellished the recipe in my own way to make it suit me. The staff seem to be the same staff as before, which is great, as they have always been patient and helpful. They have new 'self service' counters, which can be useful if you only have a couple of things and don't wish to queue. They can also give you the rage of Zeus when they accuse you of an "unexpected item in the bagging area!" so use with caution. All in all, I'll always shop here as it is most convenient for me to access. But it's not an unpleasant place to shop for your goods so I'm happy.

Fake snow, big cakes, Denise Van Outen or 'that bloke from Top Gear' stroll around Morrisons looking glossy whilst their signature Take That tune blasts out in the background. If not you will probably have seen one of their 420 stores throughout the UK. They are big, garish and bright yellow. That's the one. I shop in the Morrisons in the city centre on occasion, due to their very low prices and the fact that they stock pretty much everything. But recently I visited the Hunslet branch. The difference, they have a cafe! I was starving. Having had no breakfast whatsoever, my stomach was grumbling like a grumpy old man who had lost his slippers. Food was needed fast. They had a selection of sandwiches, but they were cut into triangles and laid onto cling film covered plates with a handful of crisps and salad. Fair enough, but odd as I expected the usual packaged sarnie. They were also quite sweaty looking, with condensation on the inside of the cling film. Not very enticing. So, I thought, hot food. YUM. But I couldn't see a menu. This is how hot food works. 1. Go to counter one with a display of pictures of various breakfast type hot food. (Sausages, beans, bacon, eggs, toast etc) 2. Choose what you want and tell the lady, she then gives you a green plastic disk with your number on it. (I chose scrambled eggs on toast) 3. Go past coffee machine, grab coffee if required. 4. Go to till, hand second lady green plastic disk with number on, pay and receive a red plastic disk with number on. 5. Find a table, put red plastic disk in the flag-post-thing and await your food. Right. Done. Sip coffee. Extremely milky with hardly any actual coffee in it, cue sleepy effect instead of caffeine buzz required. Bummer. The food arrives within five minutes. Rubbery egg, soggy toast and tasteless tomatoes. Double bummer. Satisfaction: None Wallet: down £3.80

I can't say much for the staff either, they're not very polite or accommodating and seem to be utterly bored of their jobs. Cheap but definitely not cheerful. Spend your money elsewhere.

And I don't like how the vegetables are stored in those big green boxes. It's tricksy. I went there today because I was at the Homebase next door, and was really disappointed because all I wanted was some Golden Syrup Oats So Simple, and they had sold out! The whole cereal aisle looked like a tornado had hit it. The guy at the checkout was either on day release or a bit of a stoner (will I get in trouble for saying that? Hope not). Really slow, half asleep, and even though I'd put a 'bag for life' on top of all my shopping so he could scan it through first and then I could actually pack my shopping, he decided to move it to the back of my shopping instead. He then looked at me like I was a bit mental and said in a really pitying tone 'do you need some bags then?'. No thanks Mr Stoner, I would like the bag I just gave you please. That would be awesome.

It's a good store, nothing particularly special but the staff all seem to be fairly helpful, particularly if you have young children with you, they seem to understand the pressure you can sometimes be under. The clothing section is fab, especially for children, although there is about 80% girls clothes, 20% boys, but that's always the way. Their prices are really great, especially as my little one seems to go into the next size week by week. The fish counter is lovely and the fish monger with the white beard is very helpful, although they're all ok. The cafe upstairs is nice but you need to use the lift to get up there and when it's out of order and you have your buggy with you and your shopping and you just want to go for a wee or change your baby it's a bit of a trek with an assistant to use the staff utility lift, but they do let you. The worst thing about the store is the horrendous parking, as with all sainsbury's everywhere in my experience. The spaces are far too narrow, as are the roadways between the parking, makes reversing (which I am good at before you ask) very tight, brilliant when you've got a wriggling baby to distract you as well. Handy having homebase next door too, it's walkable if you don't have to carry too much back to the car.

They always have shelves packed full with loads of different foods at good prices. Lots of offers and two for one deals...etc. My friend and I like to pop into the cafe sometimes for a guilty greasy fry up and I often end up trawling through the make-up counter and buying lots of pointless lipglosses that I don't need! It's in a better location than the Horsforth Town Street store and there's plenty of parking in the largue industrial estate.

Their wines and spirits department is of a decent size, as is their magazine / books department. They have a small cafe, the food isn't bad and is competively priced. Their toilets are always clean and they have a seperate babychange facility that is nicer than the one at E5. They also have a tobacco/ lottery till. It can get busy here but usually it's not too bad and it has much of the same stock as E5.
