The action was fast and furious and we were home in time for a late breakfast with 15 fish in the box. I've fished with a few different guides and it's a stressful job. You want everything to go a certain way and that doesn't always happen with Mother Nature. Where I'm going with this is they don't always handle that stress well. I've been yelled at for making wrong moves at wrong times, etc. Captain Kyle treated my boys with more kindness and patience than I would have ever expected even after they made some mistakes. After trying to fish for Kokanee on our own at New Melones Lake and totally getting skunked, my…read morebuddy decided to make an appointment with the expert, Kyle Wise of Headhunter Sport Fishing, who schooled us in how to limit out on Kokanee (5 per person) before the lake opens at 8am on a weekday. First of all, you wake up early to be at the marina by 5:30am. Since I am not an early bird, this was the hardest part. After making introductions and recording your fishing license number, Kyle and deck hand Steve do all the work so all you have to do is reel in the fish--the fun part. Although you would think reeling in a Kokanee would be easy peasy lemon squeezy (and it can be), my buddy had a tough time and lost several fish. But Kyle and Steve were not daunted and patiently walked my buddy through the motions of effective reeling. After our party of 4 limited out, Kyle cleaned and bagged the fish for us and we were off the lake by the time the public was allowed on. Kyle wants his clients to be successful and shares his wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure you get your limit of Kokanee.

The owner had three customers in the store, including myself, with about 15 minutes left until close. He helped everyone out and still had time to suggest several fishing spots in the area. I picked up a few flies I didn't really need, but helping the local shops is important. I also found out he sells online too so I'll keep him in mind when I need something. Last thing he said was, "stop in next time your in the area and I can tell you where the fish are biting!" Thank you!!!

I never knew the best place to view them from so didn't try in previous years. We scheduled time with Gabe from Wild Yosemite and he took us to a spot to view the falls from that is kind of a secret spot where only a few serious photographers were located. My wife and I watched the fire falls and sipped wine from about 700 feet above the valley floor. It was amazing. Gabe at Wild Yosemite scouts out the best hikes, best viewing locations that only come with constant exploring of Yosemite. A great park to lounge and enjoy a picnic before or after embarking on the Dragoon Gulch trail…read more Woods Creek Rotary Park is a fantastic park for all ages. It has a playground, BBQ pits, picnic tables, and a baseball field. It's lined by elms - as well as a year-round creek. I came here a couple of weeks back to meet up with some friends and I was thoroughly impressed with it's accessibility. I was particularly appreciative of their public bathrooms. The grounds are well maintained, it's fairly easy to park nearby, and there's a nice combination of shady and sunny areas. I look forward to manifesting more adventures here. Trust.
