Quacomole: seasoned to near perfection, chunky, fresh and wholesome. Rice: just rice. Chicken flautas: So deliciously crunchy. The chicken was bland. I normally receive a flautas dinner fully plated, even when ordered as a to-go; so perhaps they'd always be crunchy if served this way. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This place serves all of the sauces separate. Beans: I requested double rice. :-( Update: I've returned twice since drafting the above. This family owned restaurant deserves awards. The food has been served consistently hot & fresh. I and my family have had chicken flautas and mini tacos (steak & chicken). They've even customized our street tacos for us. The service has been consistently remarkable. The dining room has been consistently clean. I'll likely patronize every Tuesday for $1.50 mini tacos and Wednesdays for their chicken flautas special. This is only the 2nd business I've ever given 5 stars to.

There were times where I wanted another drink but the bartender wasn't around since she was restocking. I believe having a bar back would have helped with overall service. I want to try out another location before I write off this chain. I was very excited when I saw…read morevegan protein option for tacos and I think the food was OK, but the whole experience of eating at this location was such a bummer. Someone must have taken a big dump in the restroom that made the whole place smell like poop. The music was so loud that I had to move tables to find a spot where my ears could bear the volume. While ordering the food, the person at the counter had no clue about the menu and couldn't answer any questions, also didn't care to check with another person working. Now coming to the food, I really liked the rice and beans. The tacos were OK but I was disappointed by the 2 salsa options. They tasted good while I was sampling them but didn't do anything when I added it to the tacos, so I had to over drench my tacos in the salsa. My stomach felt the heat, but my tongue didn't. My husband got a chicken bowl and said there was a funky smell that led him to speculate that there is a possibility of cross contamination of food in the kitchen. Over all, poor experience but I will try the same vegan tacos at a different location. My excitement of finding vegan tacos so close to my house has been dampened for sure.

I figure they wont eat at a place that sucks. They don't. Service was good. Horchata was decent, not the best Ive ever had, but, good. Enjoyed the salsa served with chips. Little heat but nothing major. My friend ordered something not in the menu as shes a vegetarian. She had cactus tacos. I guess they remove the spines on cactus and quick pan fry the cactus and serve w/ veggies & cilantro. Interesting! Guess if ur local and speak Spanish, you too can have access to items not regularly listed on the menu, but cool! I ordered the Cubana torta. ( ham, pork, milanesa beef, onions, scrambled egg, lettuce, cheese(swiss?wasnt sure) and I asked for cilantro on it. Mind you this was lunch time. When I ordered it, my friend laughed. I said to her "Is that bad? She said no, didnt know you were going with that? " Guess I misread her, cause I wasnt ready for how big this thing was! Its basically an oval shaped or football shaped bread with the ingredients inside. Further discussion with my work friend revealed that most order it for dinner? Oof! Wish I knew that. It was fantastic in taste! But of course, I didnt finish it. Great price $6.99 & its good for 2 meals. So yes authentic place, prices are good, service is decent, place looks run down but if youve read my mexican food reviews before, often means the food is better and when the building is all dollies up its probably American Mexican or tex mex, not the real McCoy! This is an updated review, and unfortunately I'm writing this with a great deal of disappointment…read morebecause my previous experiences at La Cabanita had always been enjoyable. The food is normally very good and we've had many great visits over the years. This time, however, things were different. The experience itself wasn't up to the standards I've come to expect, but what really left me stunned happened afterward. Like many people, I was reconciling my monthly expense report and happened to compare my receipt to what was actually charged to my card. My signed receipt, including tip, clearly showed $69.99. However, when I checked my statement, I was charged $72.78. Now, we're not talking about some life-changing amount of money. It's only a few dollars. But that's almost what makes it worse. It wasn't some outrageous charge that immediately jumps out at you. It felt... sneaky. Maybe there's an explanation, and I sincerely hope there is, because it appears that Jose added a little something extra for himself after the fact. I honestly don't even know what to do. The amount isn't going to bankrupt me, but that's not really the point. When you trust a restaurant with your card, you expect the amount you signed for and the amount you're charged to be exactly the same. That's a pretty basic expectation. What makes this especially disappointing is that La Cabina Villa has always been one of my go-to places. I've recommended it to family and friends and have had many enjoyable meals there. A bad night in the kitchen can happen. Service issues can happen. But losing trust is much harder to recover from. At this point, I'm less angry than I am genuinely disappointed and confused. I never thought I'd find myself double-checking charges from a place I've enjoyed for years. Hopefully management can investigate this situation and provide some answers, because right now this experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Dirty dishes were on the bar counter and on 3 tables. One lone waitress was the bartender, waitress, delivered the food and bused the tables. The burrito had very little stuffing inside and was made to look big by adding layers and layers of just dough! Yuck! Plus, I developed food poisoning! Avoid at all costs cost until they can get back on track or close down. This was once a favorite place with good food that was reasonably priced. Their prices have soared while everything that was good has gone way down. Such a shame!
