Didn't give me my onions! I asked for more but they refused to give me despite having some in the back.

Definitely world class food in a pleasant environment. If you are ever nearby, highly recommend you make a reservation and give your taste buds a treat. This is high quality, authentic Italian food, with delicious, light sauces that are full of flavour to the point of perfection. The branzino literally melts in your mouth. The farfalle al salmone has such a delicious sauce I wiped my plate clean with the bread, something I never do. The tiramisu was perfection itself with the flavours balanced in a way few restaurants can achieve. A hidden gem, this place would be regarded as outstanding in any of the world's food capitals. Like the food, service was spot on. Prompt and attentive without being rushed. The meals were served hot and fresh. The chairs are comfortable, music at an appropriate level so it didn't drown out conversation but you couldn't hear other tables' talk, creating a good atmosphere. Prices are reasonable. Portions are not huge, particularly the pasta, which probably helps keep the prices fair, but it does mean anyone with an appetite can enjoy 3 courses without leaving overly stuffed. The location is odd, tucked away in a quiet side street, nothing like you would imagine for even an average restaurant. There's a car park for hotel guests but for diners you have to park on the street. We got a space out front but you may have to drive round a little at busy times (though street parking is free). Check their website for hours as Yelp has it wrong. Dress code (on a Saturday evening) seemed to be smart casual (jeans and a shirt, shoes) so we were a little casual (but it wasn't a problem). I'm hoping to stay at the attached hotel next time I'm visiting so I can eat here multiple times. I grew up in Loughborough and am genuinely shocked that such a spectacular meal is served here!!

Excellent, authentic Italian food. Superb, helpful and friendly staff. Can't wait to go again!read more

Even though I live relatively near to Melbourne, I've never actually ventured into the centre to eat before, which is surprising as there are numerous restaurants with great reputations located there. I'd been recommended Amalfi White by a colleague at work, and the restaurant certainly has kerb appeal, an impressively inviting façade. We had come to dine in the brasserie, but there is also a fine dining restaurant upstairs, with limited opening hours. Inside is just as impressive as the outer, high ceilings, a big sweeping bar, with every possible drink you could imagine, and enough space to seat around 35-40. To the rear is a pizza oven, and the bathroom is down a couple of flights of stairs. Two menus to choose from, an extensive evening menu and another limited menu for a set price, for either two or three courses; 3 choices for each course. We plumped for the latter, and whilst we made our choices, we sat on comfortable sofas adjacent to the bar. The tables were large and well spaced, with leather seating on one side and comfortable chairs on the other. Between the three of us, we chose one of the starters each: smoked salmon salad, duck arancini and large garlic pizza bread with sea salt. A great selection, the salad was fresh and light, the garlic bread crisp and savoury, and the moreish arancini, with a sweet onion dip, was devoured with relish! Mains wise, off the normal menu, there were a variety of pizzas, burgers, steaks and various pasta dishes, but off the set menu, I chose the Spaghetti Carbonara, very rich and filled with salty pancetta, whilst my wife and mother-in-law had the seared chicken breast, with crisp fries and a salad, which was a generous portion to say the least! Just enough room for a dessert, the gooseberry and elderflower fool was light and tasty, perfect for an early summer's evening. On the whole a great meal, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the homemade 'mocktails' large and refreshing; we will return to try the fine dining restaurant upstairs soon.

Even though we live relatively close, Coalville is not somewhere we go to overly often; however,…read morewith quality restaurants like Da Vinci close by, I'm sure we'll visit again very soon. Da Vinci is a sizeable Italian restaurant on the periphery of the town centre, light and bright inside, plenty of space and tables to suit all sizes of party. The walls are adorned with paintings of landscapes on sunny days, that allows your mind to wander thinking about the long summer days. Welcomed in with a smile by the amiable owner, we instantly felt comfortable taking our table next to the well stocked bar. The menu was a comprehensive one, with a good amount of choice on all courses. The complimentary bread and olives, were a good start to the meal, the olives in particular. with a little raw garlic, packed real flavour, a great start. Quite unusually for us we chose to share two starters, calamari, lightly battered, with garlic mayonnaise and lemon to garnish, beautifully cooked, a real triumph. We also have the trio of bruschetta, a variety of toppings, garlic, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, on warm toasted sun-dried tomato bread, another great dish. Mains wise, lots of choice that fell into three main groups, pizzas, pasta and more traditional mains, like steak and chicken. I went for the Pollo Gamberetti, chicken and prawns with penne pasta, in a light cream sauce; great flavours, and a sizeable portion to boot. My wife had the veal with mushrooms in a thick wine sauce, with a fresh salad and French Fries, another sizeable and impressive dish. I would tell you about the wonderful desserts, but we never made it that far, too full! There will always be a next time, and when food is this good, why not.
