The service was pleasant, but we felt that when the replaced item still couldn't be eaten by either of us, there should have been an offer to replace it with an alternative. Here is what we would recommend and what we would not: the cod fried in egg and matzo meal and chips were first class. The grilled haddock was excellent. The mug of tea arrived good and hot. The portions of mushy peas and boiled potatoes arrived warm. The replacement portion of peas was fine. The four boiled potatoes were replaced with four new ones but all of them had a strange, slightly perfumed taste, which we mentioned to the waitress. She suggested it was the potatoes that tasted like this. but it was an artificial perfumed taste that could not come from potatoes. This would not be acceptable anywhere and certainly not somewhere with such high prices.

This place is a small cafe style restaurant with a very traditional English menu. I do not really eat here but my mum goes here often.
